Sweets was a street dog in the Rio Grande Valley for at least 6 months prior to being caught. She is good with other dogs (would prefer low key and calmer companions) , and people (small kids would not be a good choice for her), and cats are unknown. She is on the shier side... not as hyper for a chihuahua. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training to be successful.She will be arriving in MN on 5/30.First priority will go to someone who lives in the twin cities metro in order to bring to a vetting appointment. Alfred, or “Alfie” for short, is a sweet chi mix whose little life didn’t get off to a great start and is still working on trusting his surroundings. He loves to play with other dogs his own size and after a good romp will curl up in the same bed for naptime together. While he is wary of new people, he is quickly learning that belly pets are kind of a great thing. He has even learned that if he climbs the pet steps it leads to the foster’s comfy bed where he can snuggle right in! Due to his skittish temperament, it is recommended Alfie be placed in a home with children over the age of 10. Also, because of his deep connection with other dogs, Alfie NEEDS to be placed in a household with another canine friend. A few facts about Alfie: His favorite game is tug. Bring it on! He LOVES to snuggle….with other dogs and in cozy places. We think with time and patience, he will actually be a real snuggle bug! Alfie comes to you housetrained. No accidents! He will bark when excited but is not overly vocal. While he isn’t afraid of a kennel, he is not considered kennel trained. Alfie has not been cat tested and his prey drive is unknown. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Junior is a 2-year old Daschund that weighs about 11-12 lbs. He originally is from Tijuana. Junior came to us very apprehensive but he has progressed so well, and easily wants love and attention, petting, and care. Junior loves to go in and outside and loves to run around with another small dog. Junior loves to bark at squirrels! He is actually quite confident outside, strutting his small stuff, bossing the squirrels around. Junior is speedy, agile and athletic. Junior loves sleeping in the bed at night with you! We are seeking a household that will let him sleep in the bed, it means a lot to him. His foster home has a set of soft stairs that work great for him. We are looking for a home for Junior, ideally with another small dog and a fenced in yard (if possible). We can assess a home without a fenced in yard, or another dog, but a home with another small dog and a fenced in yard would ring all the bells! Junior has been exposed to larger dogs and can co-mingle but will sometimes be intimidated by them and jump and snap at them if he feels threatened. Junior is very precious. He loves to be near his caretaker and have fun with another small dog. He can be confident, and assertive and sometimes shy. He definitely looks to his caretaker for reassurance. Junior is working on on housetraining, he is possibly 100% there or if not, at 80-90%, as long as he goes outside often and you give him some structure (crate when you are out). Welcome Mutz to CCPAL Rescue. Mutz is a 3-year-old Daug (Dachshund /Pug). He weighs about 12 pounds and is full grown and a nice weight. This dog came from the hoarder or overabundance of dog situation. He has an adorable underbit and has really blossomed at the Rescue. He is a quieter dog and has learned to like to be held. He is definitely a lap companion. He is playful with other dogs and has the sturdy body of the Pug. He would love to be a companion for a person that is retired, partially retired or maybe someone with a household that wants a dog with a lower energy to join in. He would be ok with a smaller condo size yard. He is learning leash manners and getting used to commotion of the Rescue. He hasn’t experienced a lot of different things so he isn’t sure yet but he is really really nice. He is not a big shedding dog. He is fine with nail trims and baths and will make some lucky family a great companion. I would say anyone moderately active would be fine for this dog. He bonds deeply and he warms up with affection nicely. He would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is getting vaccinations, neutered and he will be ready for his forever home soon. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is $200.
