Story
Hi, Im Fitz! I am a 5 month old dachshund mix. I am current on my vaccines, heartworm tested, neutered, and microchipped. 3 words that describe me: Cuddly, Curious, Affectionate Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: I'm a big attention seeker. I love to be center of attention, and I love to be held. I am very loving and am fine with any body handing and will even let you play with my feet. Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 6/10 Housetraining Status: I am just a puppy so I am still learning. I should do well in a home: I would do well in a home with dogs given proper introductions. I should do well in a home with kids given proper supervision. My friends at the shelter are unsure how I would do with cats. My favorite activities are: I love playing with my sisters and cuddling up with people! Things I need work on are: Basic commands, some leash training, and house training. Any special needs: N/A Doggy day out notes: N/A Daycare Status: N/A My adoption fee is: $350 Training Requirement if applicable: $100 *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

It was a tough decision, but one that had to be made. Gemma is as sweet as they come and very friendly! She LOVES attention and will follow you wherever you go in the house and yard. She gets along great with other dogs, male and female, but please no big dogs because, as small as she is and never having been around one, they would scare her too much. We are also saying no to cats, mainly because she’s never been around one, and we have no way to properly test her with one. If you are looking for a love bug, then Gemma would be the one for you, but understand she has never been an only dog, so we’ll only consider people who have another young, small dog to keep her company while you are out of the home. Our must-haves for sweet little Gemma include: A fenced yard Someone who can be home more often than not Another young, small dog for her to play with and cuddle with No apartments, high-rises, or condos since she, like other Dachshunds, likes to bark If you think you can give Gemma the home she deserves, please apply online and go through the approval process. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.

Story
So my name is Betty! I am a beautiful long hair 6 year old Dachshund. My coat is rich redish brown with tan markings. I have big soulful eyes and short little legs. My favorite thing is to snuggle on a lap. I recently arrived in foster care with Tiny Paws Small Dog Rescue. I have already showed what a sweetheart I am. Betty is not fully housetrained, but she is catching on quick. She is also learning what that leash thing is and how it works. Betty gets along with the other dogs in the foster home and even the cats. My foster mom, Maggie thinks a home with people teenage and up would be best. If you are interesting in adopting Betty please put an application in at tinypawssmalldogrescue.org.

Adopt a Pet from Mutt Life! Looking to add a furry friend to your family? At Mutt Life Rescue of Wisconsin, we have loving pets waiting for their forever homes. Explore our adoptable animals and find your perfect match today! For the latest updates on the mutts, follow us on Facebook: @muttlifewi Visit our website: Muttlife.org __________ Starfish arrived safely in Wisconsin on March 21, 2026 with Mutt Life Dog Rescue and is settling into her foster home, where she’s doing well. Meet Starfish Starfish is an 8-week-old Dachshund/pit mix puppy who is just starting her life and looking for a loving home to grow up in. She came to the shelter as part of an owner surrender from a backyard breeder dropping off two litters of unwanted puppies. Shortly after arriving, some of the puppies began getting sick and tested positive for parvo. While many of the puppies did not show symptoms, including Starfish, they were all treated with antibody therapy as a precaution. The good news is that Starfish and the other puppies are now past all of that and doing great. She is healthy, happy, and ready to head north to Wisconsin to find a loving home of her own. Like any young puppy, Starfish is playful, curious, and loves attention from people. She is still learning everything about the world around her and will need a family who can help her with the basics such as potty training, crate training, and learning good household manners. Starfish would do best with a family ready for all the fun (and work) that comes with raising a puppy. With patience, guidance, and lots of love, she will grow into a wonderful lifelong companion. Age: 8 Weeks Gender: Female Weight: 4–6 lbs Breed: Dachshund / Pit Mix (Best Guess) Spayed/Neutered: Yes Potty Trained: Not yet Crate Trained: Not yet Leash Manners: Too young / learning Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Yes Good with Kids: Yes Starfish is ready to start her next chapter and would love a family waiting for her in Wisconsin. If you’re ready to give this sweet puppy a home and help her make the March 21 transport, please apply today. www.muttlife.org __________ Adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter procedure, up-to-date dewormer, vaccinations, heartworm prevention (age appropriate), and certified veterinarian inspection within 30 days of adoption. __________ Review adoption requirements and ensure you meet the necessary criteria to apply! https://www.muttlife.org/adoption-policies _________ ADOPTION PROCESS: 1.) Apply: Fill out an adoption application completely and submit all necessary documents. 2.) Application Decision: approved applicants will be notified via phone call and email. 3.) Foster-to-Adopt Trial Period: After approval, you have the opportunity to do a meet and greet and bring your dog home! You get a 5-day foster-to-adopt (FTA) period to make sure it's the right fit. 4.) Final Decision: By the end of the FTA period, please let us know your final decision to adopt or return the dog to our rescue. 5.) Home Visit: After the adoption process, we conduct a home visit either in person or via Zoom meeting to ensure that everything is going well with the transition and to answer any final questions you may have. 6.) Neuter/spay for puppies: for dogs who are not fixed at the time of adoption, we will reimburse for the procedure once we receive proof of spay/neuter. The procedure MUST be done at HAWS Snip Clinic in Waukesha, WI, or Wisconsin Community Veterinarian Center in Madison, WI. If you would like to go through your veterinarian or another location, we will reimburse $125 once we receive proof of the procedure. We recommend spay/neuter around 6 months old. **Note: Adoptions are not considered final until the dog is neutered/spayed if applicable**
