He doesn’t chew, stays off furniture, and rarely barks. He is also crate trained and gets along w all dogs. He is amazing but due to my changing circumstances, I cannot give him what he needs. Story
It's killing us to rehome Luther, our beloved, 3 year old, neutered Boxer/Lab mix, who is truly a part of our family, but unfortunately our current life situation requires that we do so. Luther has lived his life mostly outside on our wide open 2.5 acre property in Arroyo Grande. He's super relational and an excellent, active athlete. He loves to run, play frisbee and ball. He is loves (is obsessed?) with his herding ball, his fetch balls and his frisbees. He needs to exercise daily and prefers to get his energy out in the morning and evening. Luther loves to go on walks around the neighborhood and car rides. Because Luther grown up in the country, he has not been socialized with other dogs very well. In his eagerness to play with and protect his toys, he can be a slightly less gentle with small children. The ideal home for Luther would include • A large yard or small property. • No other dogs. • Active, engaged owners who desire a relational dog.

Story
Please contact Masako (saveshibas@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Sweet Shiba MixSunshine (aka Lovie) is the sweetest dog you will ever meet!  This quiet gal was a stray, roaming in Riverside.  Someone reported her to Animal Control when they weren't able to catch her themselves.  She stayed in the shelter and waited for her owners but they never showed. We rescued her when her hold was up, and luckily a fellow rescuer pulled her and brought her to us.  She had a tumor on her side and her teeth were in bad shape, so she went to our vet and was quickly worked on.  She has been doing great since and is one of the easiest dogs we have ever cared for.   We're not sure she is part Shiba, but she does slightly resemble the breed.  Her temperament and mannerisms are not at all Shiba like. She warms up to you quickly, is fairly calm, quiet and looking to please you.   This sweet gal would do wonderfully in any home.  If interested in adopting, please contact saveshibas@gmail.com.   If you can provide this dog a loving forever home, please complete an application: https://savingshibasinc.org/pages/adoptAdoption Fee $195.00**All Saving Shibas Inc dogs must be adopted by families willing to have their pets be a part of their family and must be allowed inside—especially at night. No dog is allowed to be put on a “tie-out” or chain outside and should be walked on a leash when not in a fenced yard.**All Saving Shibas Inc dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccinations prior to adoption. **Available pets maybe visited via appointment with foster.

Story
Please contact Masako (saveshibas@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Male Shiba InuHatch is a 4 year old male Shiba Inu. He is approx 21 lbs and fairly high energy.  He enjoys going for car rides, loves going for walks, and enjoys playing with toys. He walks well on a leash and gets along with older children and all people. He is microchipped, current on vaccines and neutered. He has been in two homes already, the last one for 6 days. They were unable to integrate him with the other dogs in the home. He also has had a few marking incidents in the home. While we believe these issues could be related to him being intact, they will need some reinforcement potty training and behavior modification towards other dogs. He would be a great addition to any family with older children and we would sure love for him to go to a home that hikes, runs, bikes - a home with a yard and perhaps a doggy door. Hatch is a cute Shiba and enjoys being the spoiled 'only child'. If you do have other animals, we don't think this would be the ideal for Hatch. Those familiar with this breed and able to spend time with him, train him, and do various fun activities with him are ideal.  As most active adult dogs, he would enjoy long walks, hikes, runs and other activities to stimulate him physically and mentally.   In the home, he is very quiet, and crate trained as well.  However, he does love running around the house, jumping up on the furniture and does try to pee on the corners of the furniture.  (After several weeks post-neuter, this hasn't changed much and we want potential adopters to know about this as this will be an on-going training opportunity to address!  For training tips, see https://www.canineprofessionals.com/housebreaking-adult-dogs) The Shiba-Inu is a primitive breed, and a living national monument in their native Japan. They are not very affectionate dogs, but are extremely loyal to their family/owner. Similar to the Japanese Akita because of their appearance and fierce loyalty, Shiba-Inus are a great breed to adopt because they are small-sized dogs that are smart and loyal. They are also known to be escape artists and door-bolters. Adopters who have previously owned or are accustomed to this breed will be considered. If interested in adopting, please contact saveshibas@gmail.com. If you can provide this dog a loving forever home, please complete an application: https://savingshibasinc.org/pages/adopt Adoption Fee $395.00 **All Saving Shibas Inc dogs must be adopted by families willing to have their pets be a part of their family and must be allowed inside—especially at night. Story
Please contact Masako (saveshibas@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Handsome senior ShibaTwister is a sweet and beautiful senior Shiba Inu. He is 12+ years old. A beautiful blk/tan Shiba that is very sweet, and looking for a comfortable home to spend his senior days in. He is microchipped, current on vaccines and neutered. A sweet boy that likes yummy treats - he first showed up in the shelter pretty scared, but has opened up and is very adorable. We would love to find him a nice quiet home where he can enjoy his retirement years. About him...-He is mostly deaf. He won’t come by calling.-He is partially blind. He can see about 25%-50%-He has Spondylosis and Hip Dyspraxia. He walks funny. He can’t sit. Laying down is painful for him. Jumping may worsen his hip. He is not a dog to train tricks. His tail is not curled up like normal Shiba’s. -He walks slow. I mean slow. And stubborn about where he wants to go.-There is a possibility he needs a brace or wheelchair in the future. But Dr suggested to keep his legs moving on their own until they really give up. It’s important for his mental happiness. He’ll lose muscle and balance as soon as those artificial support is introduced. -Other than things above, he is pretty healthy and happy. He is curious about everything and is a wonderful companion. When I’m working at desk or sitting on the couch, he would just take a nap by my legs. -He gets to be playful sometimes but his back legs often can’t catch up. He can’t make a quick move either. So I’d avoid a family with a young children or high energy dog(s).-No known allergies-He needs to go out every 3-4 hours or so. He can sleep through the night though. -No aggression towards other dogs or humans. He may try to nip new dogs getting too close to him, but he is ok once the dog learns personal space.-He might appreciate to have company of a calm dog. We don’t know about him with other animals like cats. -He can be a little aggressive when it comes to food. So we feed him separate from other dogs -He does NOT like to be in a pen (and probably kennel too). He wants to be with others. Also he has to be the one who decides where he goes lol-We’re giving him CBD oil, Glucosamine, fish oil, pumpkin and probiotics. The first three seem to be really helping to manage his pain. The latter two are helping his regular poop cycle (he tends to have either constipation or too soft poop them). Tramadol makes him terrible constipation and we want the adopter continues CBD oil Shibas are quiet, clean and loyal dogs that enjoy being near their family.
