Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Hi there! My name is Blair and I was found in the City of Altoona as a stray and unfortunately, no one came to claim me. I am a sweet girl, but I am fearful and need a low traffic home with a family who will help to build my confidence and give me the reassurance that I need to realize that I am safe and loved. I will need an adult only home without other dogs, but I did test just fine with cats. I do have a bit of food possessive behavior, but this is easily managed by feeding me in my own space! Any visits with me do need to be scheduled in order to allow staff to provide me with the slow introductions I need in order to build trust. Please keep in mind that one visit will not be enough for me to be able to feel comfortable with anyone new and I will require multiple visits. If you think you have the time and can provide me with the proper environment, please feel free to submit an application for me or call in to speak with staff for more detail about me!

Details
Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Lyla is a 3 year vaccinated and spayed female. She cannot live with other animals or children. She is a dog who feels comfortable making friends here at the shelter. Once in a home, she is rather protective of her people. She will need structured greeting rituals to help her feel secure when meeting new people. She is an insecure lady when she is uncertain of something new. When she does know you, she wants nothing more than to climb on your lap like she weighs 5 lbs. She is very loose and wiggly wanting to play with you or with a toy. If you are not a confident dog handler, she will not be the dog for you. Lyla is looking for someone to show her that the world is not as threatening as she makes it out to be.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Weezy is 8 years old, spayed and fully vaccinated. She came to us heavily pregnant. Her pups have since been adopted but now it is her turn. Since having the puppies, she has been a medical case for us and that is why it has taken so long for her to be available for adoption. She has been with us since April 2023. We now feel that she is on the right path to go home. She cannot live with other animals but is very human friendly and could live with kids. She craves affection and loves playing with toys. She was just switched to a special diet food and it does cost a pretty penny per bag. We know this is a lot to ask when taking on a new dog but Weezy did not ask for this. We are going to do what is necessary to provide her with a healthy life.

Bark Twain

Labrador Retriever Mixed Breed (Medium)

Altoona, PA

Details
Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Bark Twain is fully vaccinated and neutered. He is about a year old. He is a large puppy who does not know what to do with himself. He would benefit greatly from a strong leader who will enforce boundaries as he is a lot of dog and has no manners. He wants to learn new things and please his person but it is going to take time and patience. He cannot live with cats. He is hit or miss with other dogs. He is a lot of energy and does not know how to settle so he can come off as annoying to certain dogs. Kids will need to be 10-12 years and older.

Labrador Retriever Boxer

Details
Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Ms Ruby is a wild puppy trapped in an adult dog body. She is a year old, almost 2. She was found roaming the country side in Tyrone. She is fully vaccinated and not yet spayed. She absolutely loves people. She cannot live with other animals. She enjoys being brushed and loved on. She seems rather confident at the shelter but when she went out on a canine cardio outing, she was rather fearful of new things. She was still her friendly self but you could tell she was scared. Due to her dislike towards other animals (as it has been shown to be intense) we recommend kids to be 10 years and older.
