Story
Female, 2 years old, 30 lbs Personality: snuggler, playful, energetic, goofy/funny, and affectionate. Meet Lanie, a lively and loving pup, with a personality as big as her amazing ears! This spirited girl is always on the move, ready to join you for a fun-filled day of play and adventure. Whether it's a long walk in the park or a game of fetch, Lanie is up for anything that gets her tail wagging. She plays well with the resident dog in her foster home and is easily redirected with toys when she eventually tires out her dog friends. And when the excitement winds down, Lanie is the perfect snuggle buddy, ready to curl up next to you and shower you with love (and of course, get some love right back). With Lanie it's more than fun and games; she's a smart cookie too! She's just about mastered potty training, is making progress with crate training, and is responding well to words like "sit" and "off." Lanie's also quite the linguist, understanding directions in both English and Spanish! With her playful antics and loving cuddles, Lanie is a fun-loving friend looking for an adopter who shares her zest for life! Are you ready to welcome this delightful bundle of energy into your home? Apply today to meet Lanie! _______________________________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

Please contact Rebecca Stein (RebeccaS@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.is sweet puppers! is not marine mammal! PLATYPUS NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Platypus        Best Guess for Breed:  Feist and terrier mix  Best Guess for Age:  5 years as of July 2024       Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 9 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus - needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get his freedom ride after completing heartworm treatment! Check out these videos of Platypus:  https://youtu.be/IZd-_U4zkyU and https://youtu.be/IZd-_U4zkyU. Special Adoption Considerations: Platypus is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Platypus is Looking For: His forever home, on dry land! While he was in the rural, overcrowded Texas shelter where he landed due to no fault of his own, he saw a documentary on dogs and realized he'd much rather be a well-loved family pet than an underwater mammal. Feeding on insect larvae and tadpoles is just a whole lot more work than chowing down on quality kibble, even if it's served up in a slow feeder. Plus. pups get to go on sniffy walks, see the mountains and the beaches from the other side and get pup cups from Starbucks for being Very Good Boys. He has so much to offer in exchange - all the adoring gazes and cuddles he's storing up in the shelter, and loyal companionship for all his days. And he promises to not lay eggs in the tub when you're bathing him, too. What do you say? Does Platypus have a spot in your lap and your life? He's eager to get his own humans for sniffy walks and romps in parks and all the adventures they dream up. And his size is a huge plus - if he can't scramble over boulders, he can easily be toted over!He also wants to make pup and people pals along the way, quality kibble, and a cushy dog bed.
