Story
https://foha.org/pet/milo2024/ ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Hi, I’m Milo (pronounced MEE-LO)—a small dog with a big heart! I’m a sweet, speedy little guy who loves both playful adventures and peaceful moments. I have a cute routine of carrying a chew toy in my mouth when I’m getting ready for walks. I enjoy spending time outside soaking up the sun and doing my lightning-fast zoomies. After a fun outing, I’m the perfect co-pilot who curls up and naps in the car. I’m a bit timid at first but eager to connect with my people. I’ve thrived in a home environment and have done well living with other dogs, though I do appreciate breaks from them sometimes. I’m loyal, intelligent, and affectionate—just the right companion for active yet cozy days. And make sure to scroll down past my bio to see all the AMAZING videos my foster mom has posted! You can really see how much I thrive in a home, and maybe it’ll help you see how I could be in your home and heart! HOW AM I WITH DOGS: Good with dogs with proper introductions. I’ve lived with multiple dogs and did great, but I may need patience and breaks from them occasionally. HOW AM I WITH CATS: I am a bit too interested in cats and would do best in a home without feline friends. HOW AM I WITH KIDS: Unknown. I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS: Sit, stay, come. MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: I have good house manners! THINGS I LIKE: Chew toys, sunny yard time, car rides, cuddling, zoomies. THINGS I DISLIKE: Storms, sudden dog encounters in public places. FOHA ADOPTION POLICIES AND PROCESS – https://foha.org/pet-adoption/adoption-policies/ ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: Spay/neuter, vaccines (rabies, distemper & Bordetella), 1-month access to Petcademy for training and behavior support, slip lead leash, 1 bag starter food, 1 month flea/tick & heartworm preventatives, diagnostic testing, and additional medical procedures as recommended by our vet. My adoption fee has been covered by a generous donor!!

Story
A true black beauty with a big heart and a bright mind. Onyx is friendly, loving, and deeply people focused. He listens well, picks things up quickly, and wants nothing more than your attention. He has no aggression at all. He simply wants to be close to his people and part of whatever is happening. He has been well loved and it shows in his manners and confidence. He is crate trained and continues to improve on leash. Walks are one of his favorite things. He happily greets people he meets along the way and mostly ignores other dogs, keeping his focus where it belongs. Onyx loves fetch and already knows sit, stay, and lay down. He is smart and eager, the kind of dog who enjoys learning and showing you what he knows. Onyx has lived successfully with three children and does beautifully with kids. He is patient, gentle, and engaged, making him a wonderful family dog. He would thrive in a home that has time to give him the attention and companionship he truly deserves. Onyx was adopted from OPH as a puppy and has been well cared for ever since. Due to unexpected medical and financial hardship, his family made the heartbreaking decision to return him so he can find stability again. He is ready to shine in a new home and give his whole heart to the next family lucky enough to choose him.

He’s friendly with people, dogs, AND cats, making him the ultimate social butterfly (minus the wings… although, with his charm, he might as well fly).     Looking for a buddy who’s sweet as can be, adores life, and is ready to love you unconditionally? Then Merle is your guy. Don’t wait — apply today and scoop up this cutie before someone else does. Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Foster Homes Needed! Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   Chihuahua Mix Male (neutered) - Adult Looking for that smart, funny guy that can go anywhere and considers new adventures the very best thing in life?  Just pick up a leash and Ace starts dancing around ready to roll. And speaking of rolling, rolling around on the couch or in bed is probably his second most favorite thing to do.  So expect to share both with him and expect to laugh. Treats can also be used to persuade him in to learning cute tricks and are expected when he heads to his crate because that's what a good boy does. Want a dance partner, Ace is your guy. He can do the best little hind leg twirling. He also does love to give soft kisses and snuggles and his coat is so soft, who wouldn't want to snuggle with him. He also watches and is incredibly smart, he may think he is a bit human too.  Ace is a 2-3 years old chihuahua/spitz mix who is fully vetted. Crate trained but not his favorite thing and remember the treat. Potty trained, set ground rules about marking when he enters his new environment and he is smart so knows its not allowed. He has a voice and is not a barker but probably not the best for an apartment. Ace is good with canine family members (a little loud when he plays).  Cats are ok too.  **BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIREMENT FOR A HOME VISIT, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ADOPT TO HOMES IN THE NORTHERN VA / MARYLAND / DC METRO AREA** We have adoption events EVERY SATURDAY from 12-3 p.m. Please note that not all dogs can attend every event, so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete a no-obligation application on our website at http://www.muttloverescue.org/application.html OR write to adopt@muttloverescue.org. Story
Introducing, Tiny! Tiny was surrendered to a rural shelter after her owner had to go into assisted living. Her owner loved her but never took her outside or picked her up. Because of her limited experiences, Tiny is very comfortable being an indoor pup, but new experiences scare her. Tiny is 2 years old and 12 lbs. She is great with other dogs and ignores cats. She is VERY pee pad trained and is learning how to walk on leash and potty outside. Tiny is shy at first, but once she warms up, she is a lap lover, toy obsessed, playful silly girl! Tiny would do best in a chihuahua experienced, adult only (or older children) home with another confident dog. Interested in learning more about Tiny? Apply at www.novapetsalive.org/adopt *Tiny is spayed, up to date on vaccines, was given dewormer and monthly preventatives, and is microchipped.

Story
Sidney came to AFH from one of our rescue partners.  They were called by a Sheriff's Department in Florida to assist with a hoarding case involving "50 to 100" Chihuahuas.  When they arrived, there were over 200!  They were all living in a filthy mobile home surrounded by trash and feces. The trailer had no running water or electricity.  Our rescue partner said "It was, honestly, one of the worst properties I've been on and I have been on some BAD ones."  Thanks to our wonderful fosters we were able to rescue 8 dogs.Sidney was pregnant when she arrived to AFH. She has since had an emergency c-section on 10/30/24. Only one puppy was viable, but he is doing very well.  She is still wary of people, but has made great strides.   Sidney is working on housetraining, and is crate trained, and leash trained.Sidney's WISDOM PANEL results:  37% Chihuahua, 3% Toy Fox Terrier, 2% Miniature Pincher, 17% Chow Chow, 4% Siberian Husky, 3% Alaskan Malamute, 2% Kai Ken, 2% Chinese Shar-Pei, 7% Papillon,3% Shih-Tzu, 3% Toy Poodle, 7% German Shepherd Dog, 2% Collie, 4% American Pit Bull Terrier, 3% American Cocker Spaniel, 1% Labrador RetrieverAccuracy is not guaranteed; however, information provided is accurate to the best of our knowledge.  For more information on the pet, please send an email to info@aforeverhome.org January 6, 2026, 10:00 pm
