Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi, my name is Willie and I'm a handsome, highly intelligent GSD/Husky mix. My DNA test says 80% German Shepherd.   For the last year, I've been living with a wonderful older couple, but I have too much energy for them, and they had a hard time meeting my needs. I lived with an older dog too but he passed away. I have been weaned off my  anxiety meds now that I'm in a foster home, and my exercise needs are being met.  I'd prefer a home without small children. I have been known to correct them with my mouth. Not a bite, just a hold.  When my foster parents let me outdoors, I'll patrol the property to make sure our turf is safe and secure. My foster parents have noticed that I'm uncomfortable around men who wear hats and sunglasses. I do have an independent nature, but I like to keep watch as to where my humans are. Besides playing fetch, I enjoy other outdoor adventures. I would love to find a home with a GSD/Husky-experienced adopter who will provide me with lots of exercise and mental stimulation. Adventure seekers, please take note! If you are interested, please go to adoptagsd.org and submit an online application. My adoption fee is $350.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 23, 2025, 9:34 am

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. AdoptaGSD.org   Please consider that some of these dogs have been abandoned or ignored by their previous owners, having little interaction with someone who cares about them. When adopted, they will need time to adjust to the changes in their life. Hey there, I’m  Laki —a  2 year old mix  who was transferred to FRGSR after my former owner gave me away and then I ended up at a shelter.  I'm beautiful, fun-loving, and just starting a new chapter in life! I may not have those classic pointy shepherd ears (I prefer the laid-back look), but trust me, my personality is pure gold.   I’ve recently competed a  board and train program  to help me build confidence and become the best version of myself. I’m a total people-lover and thrive with structure and guidance. When it comes to other dogs, I’m definitely  selective —a girl knows what she wants!   Here’s a little about me:   &#226&#156&#133 Obsessed with affection – If you’ve got hands, they better be petting me. &#226&#156&#133 Always ready for adventure – running, playing, and soaking up the good life. &#226&#156&#133 Confident queen in training – building trust and learning at my pace. &#226&#156&#133 cats - not an issue    Stay tuned for updates as I learn and grow! When adopted, they will need time to adjust to the changes in their life. Update: For the last several months, I've been living with a foster who's also a dog trainer and I've made amazing progress!  I have done well around other dogs, both large and small, with proper introductions.  I LOVE to play fetch! I've also done well with the resident kitties. I've been non-reactive to people and other dogs while on walks. Nothing brings me more joy than pleasing my humans. My commands are spot-on, and I know sit/stay, down/stay, come, heel and place. I've had lots of fun accompanying my foster parents on hiking, camping and road trips. I'm a boy who thrives with structure, routine and proper exercise. I need a patient, experienced adopter who know breeds like me and lives in a house rather than a multi-unit complex. Is that you? Hi, my name is Gustaf, and I'm a 4 year old male GSD  who was adopted out in 2022 when I was a cute puppy then returned because I was given too much freedom which led to problems. I ended up chasing bicycles and I grabbed the mailman's calf while delivering mail one day.  I'm guarded when I first meet new people, but I do warm up over time with slow introductions, and once you're in my inner circle, I'm very affectionate and loving. The rescue is hoping to find a home without young children as they can open doors accidentally. If you are interested, please go to adoptagsd.org and submit an online application. AdoptaGSD.org   Please consider that some of these dogs have been abandoned or ignored by their previous owners, having little interaction with someone who cares about them. When adopted, they will need time to adjust to the changes in their life. Update: I have spent some time in a Board and Train program and the trainer reported that I arrived as an insecure, untrained dog who really didn't know even basic commands, and I was easily distracted or became over-stimulated. My insecurities led to excessive barking and nipping. The trainer worked with me using a calm, confident style while setting very clear boundaries, so I learned the difference between right and wrong. He recommends that I be adopted as an only dog, because when I'm around other dogs, I can get over-stimulated, which can spill over to other negative behaviors. I would love to find a home with a single person or couple who have a fairly quiet household (no kids). My adopter will need to continue with my training and set clear boundaries for me. The trainer will also provide a complimentary training session to help with the transition and discounted rates for additional training sessions. I would love to find my new person so I can show him or her how affectionate, loyal and devoted I can be!   Hi, I'm Gunner, a handsome 2 1/2 yr old boy who was surrendered to FRGSR by my former owner due to his failing health. My owner was sad to have to surrender me, but rather than abandoning me at a shelter where I may not have made it out, he asked FRGSR if they could help to find me a new home, and thankfully, they said yes. Losing my owner and my home has left me wondering what happened and I'm feeling a little unsure of things. I'm currently living in a foster home, and my foster mom has noted that I'm definitely a boy who needs an owner with GSD experience. I'm particular about my canine friends, because I like some, but not others. I'm crate trained and house trained.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. When adopted, they will need time to adjust to the changes in their life. Bo Nix here-and just like my namesake, I'm all about the comeback!  I'm a 1 year old  male looking for a new life. I was found on the streets, so not much is known about me. When I first joined the team, I had major separation anxiety- like, "don't even leave the room" levels. But guess what? I've been working hard, and now it's just a mild case! Im good with people and dogs, house trained, ok with cats, and an A+ cuddler! But heads up- I am an escape artist. Short fences? easy. Crates? Child's play. So I'm looking for a homes that's got their defense line set- tall fences, solid containment, and ideally a canine teammate to keep me company when my humans are away. If you are ready to Cheer me on in my next big win- a forever home- I'm ready to suit up!
