Story
She was our first pup and is a rescue weve had her for 4 years now, she is great with our 3 yo and our cat and our other dog. She does not get along with other dogs outside the house therefore she is always on a leash we think she would benefit from a home where she has a yard and can run around(we live in a duplex) and she has been with us in different apartment ills over the years she responds to basic commands, we rescued another dog after 2 years w Becca and now 2 is just too many we want her to go to a good home because she really is a good dog she’s never growled, bit or been otherwise aggressive to any person or any of our other pets and shes been safe around our toddler since his birth, she barks loud in a protective fashion when people knock but all she does is lick and sniff. She has high energy like a puppy still she has anxiety and she would benefit from a lot of attention she loves to cuddle and snuggle

Story
Trixy was adopted from a local adoption center when she was 4 months old 12 years ago. Her birthday is on April 13th. She’s lived the majority of her life free-roaming, in a backyard and in a house with occasional walks and hikes to the mountains. She could be described as very shy and timid at first, but later opens up to be a very sweet and affectionate girl. She loves going on walks and dislikes going in water. She loves eating, her favorite foods being bananas and steak. She is a good dog for a quiet home with loving people and ample space, as she is a senior and doesn’t have puppy energy anymore. Trixy also loves head scratches and all the attention ever.

Story
Hiya, I'm Finn! I am a 3 year old German Shepherd/Husky mix (best guess). I'm quite the chatterbox. I love to 'talk' to anyone who'll listen. It's my way of saying, 'Hey, let's be friends!' I've got enough energy to keep up with the most active of families, but I'm also a champion snuggler when it's time to wind down. I'm looking for a forever home with someone who loves playtime and cuddles as much as I do. If you need a brave, loyal, and hilarious sidekick, I'm your guy! I do good with other dogs as long as we are properly intoduced. However, I do need a home without cats as I like to chase them. I woul ddo best in a home iwth older children due to my active nature. Did I mention I'm working on training right now? Well I am and I can tell you that I am the best at 'sit' and 'down' that any dog could ever be! Adopt me and I promise you won't regret it. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! ##1783284##

Story
My name is Kevin! I'm a 3 year old German Shepherd/Weimeriner mix (I have 10 other breeds too, check out the DNA results in my photos!). I came to the shelter as a stray and unfortunetly, have been at the shelter since and that was over a year ago...I'm really a good boy I just got a bad start in life. I'm going to be blunt- I don't like other dogs and wouldn't do good in a home with cats, but I can make up that extra want for another animal with my love. I have tons of it to give, so no need to have any other pets with me around :) I love belly rubs, going for car rides, and playing in the water.  I do good on a leash, but better in a harness. I love to go for car rides and I am a gentlemen when it comes to it. I love the water, so bath time is no issue to me. I do good in a kennel so potty-training is easy for me. I really just need that special someone that is willing to give me the time and patience to love me and train me. A kind soul has offered to sponsor half of my adoption fee!
