Story
MK is currently in boarding. If you would like to meet him, please start by visiting www.sccrescue.org and completing an application.Hello! MK here!As you can see, I am a handsome guy who is so excited at the thought of meeting you, I mean look at my smile.I am a young pup, around a year old and am sweet, playful and enthusiastic about pretty much everything. A canine friend to play with that would be amazing, humans to pay attention to me, wonderful, a fenced in yard, awesome. I do sometimes forget I can`t try to play with a human the same way I might another dog so smaller humans, under 10, probably not the best fit for me. Unless I am sleeping, I definitely want to be part of the action and will follow you around the house. The nice people who have been spending some time with me say I am a smart boy. A little correction & some guidance and I catch on quickly. I do also love food, I mean doesn`t everybody, so if treats are involved in the learning process, I am all in. Walks on the leash are fun little adventures. Sometimes I don`t know my own strength but if I use a harness, I am pretty good.......though squirrels are so hard to ignore. In the house I am a good boy, if I do say myself. I will settle in that thing you call a crate, if needed. I remember most of the rules and usually remember to ask to go out when `nature calls`.If you are looking for a fun, 4-footed friend with a zest for life. I could be your guy and would love to meet you.Interested in adopting this dog?Visit our website (http://www.SecondCityCanineRescue.org) to fill out an application and to find out where this dog may be shown this weekend. We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog’s individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog. Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don’t know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess. Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area. Story
She’s beauty and she’s grace— she’s going to steal your space!Meet Barcelona:Barcelona is a 3-year-old, 75-pound spayed Lab/Shepherd mix who lives life at full volume — whether she’s sprinting across the yard or dramatically flopping onto the couch for snuggles. She’s equal parts athlete and affection enthusiast, and she takes both roles very seriously. She’s wonderful with people of all ages and seems to believe everyone she meets was put on this earth to be her friend. Barcelona is fully house trained, knows her basic commands, and can be trusted to free roam without turning your living room into a chew-toy testing lab. She’s not destructive — she prefers to save her energy for the important things, like loving you.Speaking of love… Barcelona is a total cuddle bug. If you sit down, she will assume it’s an invitation. If you lie down, even better. She’s happiest when she can lean her solid 75 pounds against you and sigh like she just had the best day ever. She would thrive in a home with a large fenced yard where she can stretch her legs and burn off her zoomies before clocking in for couch duty. On leash, she’s strong and very enthusiastic about getting where she’s going. She’ll need continued leash training, as she can pull and be reactive when passing other animals. Because she prefers to be the star of the show, Barcelona is looking to be the only pet in the home.If you’re searching for a loyal, affectionate, big-hearted girl who will keep you active, keep you laughing, and keep you company on the couch, Barcelona is ready to pack her bags and claim her spot by your side.Adoption fee is $360Email: dogs@almosthomefoundation.orgAlmost Home Foundation`s adoption requirements:(1) Be at least 21 years of age;(2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household;(3) Have approval from the residence owner;(4) Have valid ID with current address;(5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home; and(6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash or checks for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards. ***

Story
Male - 1 year - 65 lbs - Microchipped - Neutered - OHHi there! My name is Jace and I am a 1-year-old, 65 lb neutered male. I am already housetrained and crate-trained. I am currently crated when I am left home alone. I am a sweet boy with my foster parents, though it took me a while to warm up to them. I’ve spent most of my life in a kennel environment so living in a home with people was a new experience for me and I am very shy with new people. I have started seeking affection and enjoying pets from my foster parents and discovering how great it can be! I’ll need a patient, calm adopter to help me grow more comfortable around people.  I love other animals and will require a confident canine sibling in my home to help show me the ropes! I have also been around cats without issue so could have kitty siblings also. I love toys and bones! Any kind of stuffy toy that I can gently carry around is great, and I will also play tug with other dogs with a rope! I ride well in the car and only pull slightly on lead. I take food gently and would love a family who will continue my socialization so that I can grow into my most confident self! I have been learning to come to my foster parents when they call my name and know what it means to be “time for bed”! I am a sweet boy who is ready to find my perfect adoptive family—could that be with you? Story
Female - 3 years - 65 lb - Microchipped - Spayed - VAHello! My name is Tam and I am a 3-year-old, 65 lb spayed female. I am already housetrained. My crate-training is a work in progress as I currently don’t like to stay in one while you’re away. I’ve been working with my foster mom to build up my tolerance for being left home alone uncrated and am doing well! I love being pet and receiving affection from people I know! I can be a little nervous when first meeting new people, give me a little bit of space to approach you first and then we’ll be friends! I have done well with men, women, and older children. I love goofy play with my foster mom! I do well with other dogs on outings or in the yard at my foster home, but I prefer to be the only dog inside my home as I don’t reliably share my living space well with others. I have done well with the cats at my foster home and wouldn’t mind having some cat siblings! I enjoy playing with stuffed toys or chewing on hooves. I like spending time in the yard but I can easily clear a fence which is something to be aware of if my new home has a fenced yard! I have been working on building my confidence in the world around me while at my foster home and would love a home where I could join for hikes or other outdoor adventures! I walk very well on lead and ride well in the car after a little boost in! I have already learned some basic training cues such as sit, down, come, and leave it. Going for outings and training together helps me bond with my people and I am ready to bond with a family of my very own—could that be with you? Story
Female - 4 years - 76 lbs - Microchipped - Spayed - OHHey there! My name is Dexter. I am a 4-year-old, 76 lb spayed female. I am already housetrained and crate-trained, though I am an old soul at heart so I will just take a deep nap while you’re gone and do not need to be crated when left home alone. I love all the pets, scratches, and snuggles from my foster parents and spending time with them! I can be avoidant at first meeting with new people. I have done well with men, women, and older children after some time to warm up! My foster parents adore me and say I am the cutest, sweetest thing they’ve ever seen (I’m not sure it’s that serious, but whatever makes them happy). I have done well with laid back, large male dogs and would enjoy a well-matched companion in my home! I tolerate other large female dogs, but I’ll be honest they’re not my favorite. Little dogs and cats are a no go for me. I haven’t shown interest in toys or playing, but my foster home has designated me the Queen of Naps™ so I would love to have access to plenty of cozy places to help me maintain my royal title. I ride well in the car once I’m lifted in and I only pull slightly on leash. I have an old break in my pelvis that had healed poorly at some point prior to my entering rescue. As a result, I have an off gait and take daily medication for pain management. I am well-managed, though I will need ongoing monitoring throughout my life. I will need regular low-impact exercise to keep me healthy and mobile! I am a sweet, sassy, goofy girl who is ready to find my family—could that be you? Story
Male - 5 years - 40 lbs - Microchipped - Neutered - NYHi, I’m Ricardo. I’m a 5-year-old, 40 lb neutered male. I am already housetrained and crate-trained. I use my crate as a safe space mostly; I do not need to be shut in my crate when I am left home alone. I have coexisted well with adults, with a preference for women, though I am very shy and don’t seek much interaction. I will accept calm affection from my foster mom. Most of the time I am happy to people watch from afar. I will need someone willing to be patient as I come around to them and my surroundings in my new home; I had had no or minimal human contact prior to coming to Echo Dogs so this human world is all new to me and I have been trying hard to learn! I love having the company of other dogs and will require at least one confident canine companion to help guide me. I am wonderful about adjusting my play style to match that of the dog I am playing with and all around have good canine social skills. I am also gentle around cats and wouldn’t mind having feline siblings. I have been learning about these things called toys and they’re pretty fun! I especially like the plushy toys and benebones. I have been working hard on leash skills and can now join on quiet outings! I may get nervous at times and need gentle encouragement. I am still pretty uncomfortable with car rides so that is also a work in progress. I have learned to reliably come to my foster mom when she calls me. I currently take clomicalm to help me manage my anxiety. I am a gentle-natured boy who is ready to find a patient human ready to help me continue navigating this human world—could you be my human(s)?
