Story
Koda was recently brought to the shelter when his family could no longer care for him, and now he’s looking for a new place to call home. He would love an experienced, dog-savvy family, ideally one familiar with large breeds or, even better, German Shepherds, who understands the needs of big, intelligent dogs.Koda is a very large and strong boy and would do best in a home setting with a securely fenced yard where he can safely stretch his legs. He can be vocal on leash towards other dogs, and because of his strength, adopters should be comfortable handling a powerful dog and continuing his leash training. At home, Koda has a great balance of energy, he enjoys going for walks and visiting the park, but he’s also very happy to relax and hang out with his people. His previous family reports that he is fully potty trained.Koda has lived with cats and done well sharing space with them. While he has not lived with other dogs in the home, he has shared space with dogs outside of it. As always, slow and thoughtful introductions are recommended.Koda can feel a little nervous at the vet, so a clinic that prioritizes fear-free handling would be ideal to help him feel more comfortable and supported. If you’re looking for a loyal, big-hearted companion and have the experience to help him thrive, Koda could be a wonderful addition to your family. Come meet him and see if he’s the one for you!

Story
Meet BUDDY! Buddy is a very handsome 2.5-year male German Shepherd mix. Buddy is great with children and loves affection. Buddy knows all his basic commands and does great with other dogs. He's a smart guy, learns quickly and wants to please. Buddy loves to go on walks or play but can relax and take a nap throughout the day as well. His favorite thing is playing in the water hose and of course, hanging with his people, plus being a perfect companion. Buddy is great on a leashed and is perfect in the home. He is submissive towards everyone and has an excellent temperament. Buddy would be a great family dog and a wonderful addition. He is neutered, up-to-date with vaccinations, flea, and tick prevention given, heart worm tested (negative) and microchipped. Buddy is located in Vancouver Washington and is available to meet anytime. Please email cynthia@pawsforliferescue.net for more information and to arrange meeting him!

Story
Rocky was an adopted dog as a puppy of only three months old. He was born on July 15, 2021, now being 4 years old. We are looking for a new home for him since we are a busy family and don't have time to look after him regarding his physical activity and training. He is a good dog very affectionate and loving. He has a structured life. He spends most of his day in the backyard and sleeps in his crate at night thats located in the garage. He has three meals a day in moderate portions. He is not a big fan of kids and is selective with people, but if he likes you he is very loving and protective. If you are a dog lover, have space and time and are seeking to own a German Shepherd, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We love Rocky and did not take this decision lightly, but we feel like this is the best option for his well-being.

The Captain is ready to "lift your spirits" with his adorable antics!  He is a big, lovable goofball who doesn’t quite realize how large he is—but that just adds to his charm! With his playful personality, kind heart, and unshakable loyalty, he’s the perfect adventure buddy and cuddle companion all in one.Why You’ll Love Him:Obedient and eager to pleasePlayful yet incredibly lovingA little uncoordinated at times, making him extra endearingHousebroken and well-mannered indoorsRides well in the car and walks nicely on a leashThe Perfect Home for The Captain:He gets along well with other dogs, but would thrive with a fellow big dog who can match his energy.  Slow intros are best with those well balance playmates. He’d do best with an active, loving adopter who wants a true best friend for life—someone who will enjoy playtime, outdoor adventures, and plenty of goofy moments together. This gentle giant is very curious of feline friends so he would do best in a home without kitties!Health & Care:Neutered and up to date on all vaccinationsHouse-ready and fine in a walk-in kennel when neededIf you’re looking for a big-hearted, fun-loving dog who will bring endless joy and laughter into your life, The Captain is your guy. Because you will be giving one of our many dogs and cats in need a chance for a better future away from a city that has an animal crisis. We are heartbroken each day with the many incredible and loving animals found wandering our streets. So often are these animals dumped, abandoned, or born on the streets and never find a home to call their own. We are giving them the chance that every animal deserves. We know that since you are looking to add a furry family member to your home here, you will provide the love, care, and attention they need to thrive.
