Story
Rico is a 4 year old, neutered male German Shepherd/Malinois mix. He is up-to-date on all vaccinations and microchipped. Like your typical GSD mix, he is incredibly intelligent, loyal and loving once he knows you're his person. He is dog-friendly and cat-friendly. House-broken and crate-trained. He's a rockstar with his commands and loves to learn. Walks well on a leash. He can be reactive when in busier places and needs someone who is patient and can take things slow. He is a wonderful protector, and you will always feel safe with him around. Rico's ideal home is someone who understands the breed, can work his mind and body every day (training and/or walks), and someone who can continue building his confidence. He needs a home with a fenced yard. No young children. He'd thrive in a quiet home without a lot of people coming and going. He would be incredible in dog sports if that's something you're interested in. He is currently located in Portland, OR.

Story
Meet George. This guys is a pretty fun boy, due to his age he is working on being brave and learning new things out of his comfort zone. This guy is going to be a big kid. We estimate and full size he will probably be about 80lbs. He is a Husky/Shepherd mix. He does well with other dogs, but does not have any experience with cats at this time. The world is new to him and it is all an learning experience. We are looking for home for this guy that is going to be able to have room to run and play, people who will not only engage with him physically but also who will engage with him mentally. This kiddo is going to need a family that is committed to training, and teaching him all about being the best dog that he can be. If you are intersted in meeting George we ask that you please email adoption@columbiahumane.org in order to obtain an adoption application. Once you have an approved application on file we will then schedule a time for you to come and meet him. His adoption fee is $600. That will include all his vaccinations, his first rabies, being treated for worms, treated for fleas, neuterd and microchipped. For more information call 503-397-4353 or email adoption@columbiahumane.orgJune 12, 2025, 6:50 am

Story
Hazel Bean, Hazel Bean this new girl just recently came to CHS from our local Animal Control. Having come into the shelter as a stray we don't really know anything about her yet. We are learning as we go. She is a little timid so will need people who understand and allow her time to settle in. This girl is going to be large, at approximately 8 months old she is close to 70lbs already. Ideally a fenced yard would be the best bet for this little lady. She is currently working on her leash skills and in general how to be a great kiddo. We feel that is going to do well with other dogs. As we learn more about her, we will update her profile. If you are interested in meeting this pretty lady, we ask that you please email adoption@columbiahumane.org in order to obtain an adoption application. Once we have an approved application on file we will then set a time for you to come and meet her. Her adoption fee is $350.00 that will include her spay, being current on vaccines, treated for fleas, and treated for worms and microchipped. For more information call 503-397-4353 or email adoption@columbiahumane.orgJune 16, 2025, 7:00 am

Story
Hello my name is beck I am a German Shepard mix and am around a year old and weigh about 65 lbs. I do get along with other dogs but would prefer a female dog friend that could show me the ropes. I am very food motivated and handler motivated and with work I think I would be able to go with dog savvy cats. I am a shy dog but warm up once I know you or if you have food. I am good with all ages of kids. I am learning many things here at the shelter and love to learn and interact with the people here. I love going for walks and getting to run around in the yard and chase toys. I know how to sit and lay down and am learning how to stay, come when called, place and crate. If you are interested in meeting me please email to get an applicationIf you would like to meet him we ask that you please email adoption@columbiahumane.org in order to obtain an application. Story
This sweet heart of a boy is looking to find a family that is willing to invest in him becoming a great member of society. This guy is currently 11 weeks old. He has a lot of energy, and he is going to be a big boy when he grows up. He gets along with his foster brother that he currently has. His foster family reports that he likes to play chase with his brother, but also likes to just lay around a chill. He is a Husky/Shepherd mix so he is going to require a family that will not only keep him mentally engaged but will also keep him physically engage as well. His adoption fee is $600 that includes him being current on his vaccinations, altered, treated for fleas and treated for worms, and microchipped. Due to his age, he is not altered yet but that will be part of the foster to adopt agreement. He will also need to return to the shelter to complete his vaccination series. If you are interested in meeting him please email adoption@columbiahuamne.org in order to obtain an application. Once you have an approved application on file we can then schedule a time for you to meet him. Please note that this puppy is currently living in a foster home, so meet and greets will be arranged between the foster and the potential adopter. For more information call 503-397-4353 or email adoption@columbiahumane.orgJune 26, 2025, 6:33 am

Story
I adopted Bailey from an individual in Portland, February, 2023. I was to become her third move in 2 years. I felt I would be the one to have her forever Sadly, that would not be the case. Bailey was anxious and insecure when I got her. The training she had was minimal and she did not care for my cat. She is a rescue, also. We tried, but there is an impasse that is insurmountable. My cat is a fluff ball and not aggressive. I keep them separate from each other for the cats sake. Bailey is protective and has a good heart.. I know she would be perfect with a property to chase balls and play with kids older than 10. She prefers men, however she does love and protect me. I am ill and have lost a lot of strength. It is difficult to give her the exercise she deserves. She must go to a kind and loving home with a large safe area to run and play. I am sure she will be the dog you have been wanting to find. I love her and want the best for her.
