Story
My foster knows me better than anyone! Here's what they had to say about me during my time with them: Townsend is such a good boy!! He is loving, smart, and handsome! What else could you want in a new best friend 😊. Townsend knows sit and loves all the classic dog activities - going for walks, sniffing, playing with toys, wrestling with dog friends (so far, he hasn't met a dog he doesn't like) and cuddling his person on the couch. Townsend is food motivated, which makes him easy to train, and he is great at catching treats in his mouth, which makes him fun! Townsend likes car rides and is house trained. Townsend would benefit from slow, cheese filled introductions to new people, but once he decides you're safe you will be rewarded with a wonderful new bestie. Townsend is a young chap with his whole life ahead of him and he would love to go home with a family who can help him burn off energy with exercise, playtime, and outdoor adventures but Townsend is also happy to simply hang out and snuggle on the couch. It's recommended I meet any dogs or kids living in my new home before I'm adopted. I just want to make sure we all get along. I have been doing well with kids/toddlers in foster.I'm available for Trial Adoption! If you're interested in taking me home for 2 weeks before making a final decision, please speak to an adoption counselor.I need a home without cats. We just don't get along - even if they don't mind me, I can't be in the same home with them. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 53 Age: 2yrs 1mths 0wks

Story
Meet Pinto! After her and her siblings were found abandoned out in Eastern Washington, she was scooped up and brought to us! She was pretty shy & nervous at first - understandably so - but has come out of her shell beautifully! Her sibling was DNA tested and came back as majority husky, malamute and german shepherd. She does great with other dogs and has not been tested with cats but can be upon request. Her foster parents say she is doing great with potty & crate training. Experience with working / high energy breeds preferred, as her breeds can be high energy and stubborn at times! Please reach out to hear more about Pinto! ##2628407##

Story
Meet Coconut: Your Future Best Friend and Ultimate Love Bug! Everyone, meet the beautiful Coconut! This two-year-old Shepherd/Malinois/Cattle Dog mix is a sensitive soul with a heart of gold. While she takes a little time to settle in and feel comfortable, once she knows she is safe, she reveals her true self: an absolute love bug who just wants to snuggle her person all day long. Her Perfect Match Coconut is truly looking for "her person." She is a loyal companion who forms incredibly deep bonds, though she is particular with people—especially men. She takes a bit longer to warm up to the guys, so her ideal home would be with a single lady where the two of them can be inseparable companions. Activity & Lifestyle Because she is so smart, Coconut thrives on mental stimulation. She is incredibly eager to please and would love a partner who enjoys teaching her new tricks or giving her a "job" to do. She’s an A-plus walker and the perfect partner for hiking or jogging, though she does require a home with a secure, 6-foot-plus fence to keep her "youthful enthusiasm" contained. Social Life When it comes to her social circle, Coconut knows exactly what she needs: With People: Selective at first, but a fierce snuggler once she trusts you. With Dogs: She is generally okay with other dogs but is dog-selective with females. She would do best as an only dog or with a passive male companion. With Cats: She is wonderful with cats and is ready to be a loyal friend to feline housemates. Coconut is a high-energy athlete who is still working on keeping all four paws on the floor when she gets excited. Whether you are looking to adopt or Foster-to-Adopt, this resilient, affectionate girl is ready to bloom in a home that understands her brilliant breed and gives her the snuggles she craves. Story
COURTESY POST: This dog is not currently with Stumptown Strays. She is in need of a new home and here is what her person says about her: "Meet Pie, a 1.75 year old German Shepherd mix looking for her (human) other half. Pie is human-esque, bright, loyal, affectionate, and TRULY a once-in-a-lifetime kind of dog. Her Portland-based cult following says it all. Charisma MACHINE. Pie first came to Portland after being hit by a car and having a plate installed in her leg. Despite the medical trauma, she LOVES the vet. Appointment times do not apply to Pie; she would prefer to be waved straight into the back to hang out with her pals. I mention this specifically because it tells you everything about the kind of dog Pie is; resilient and determined to enjoy life, no matter the odds. We adopted Pie six months ago and have gotten to see her blossom. The joy she exudes is unmatched. She is, quite literally, the smartest dog we have ever met. Soon, she will be able to search things out using her nose! She loves to participate in everything you do, whether that be baking, putting away groceries, or gardening. She does great in a car, can walk on a leash, and with a bit of training, she will be the dog you can take with you on any adventure. When life gets loud, Pie will often request alone time and wants us to put on her favorite show, Bob’s Burgers (her favorite character is Louise if that tells you anything about her). As much as we love her, Pie has decided that it’s time to find a home where she is the only pet. She loves to play with other dogs, but it seems like they’re not ideal housemates for her. Pie is looking for her other half. She doesn’t need perfection in a home, she just needs her person. A Bob's Burgers loving, semi-active human who will love her back with the same intensity she would love you with." If you are interested in meeting Pie, please either send us a message through PetFinder or email info@stumptownstrays.org! There is no adoption fee for Pie. Due to her injury, Pie does need to stay on chronic pain medication and she does best while also on Prozac for her anxiety.

Story
We’ve had Lou since she was 3 months old. We adopted her from a shelter in Moab, Utah and she has been a great dog. She is mild-mannered and affectionate with her people. She is obedient and has never chewed any shoes or furniture, and is potty-trained. She responds well to commands, and is her best self off leash getting to roam trails, always coming back when called. She’d be a great companion if you like hiking and backpacking. We’ve taken her to the dog park 2-3x a week since she was a pup. She is friendly with other dogs. Always done well in boarding and staying with families with other dogs. We love her, but being a young family on the move, bringing her along is now too difficult for us. The right new home for Lou would be one where she has a yard to roam, and a loving family to provide stability for her to be her normal sweet self.
