Hey there, pals! The name's Calhoun, and let me tell ya, I'm the life of the party! 🎉 I may be a two- to three-year-old, 70-pound Shepherd, but don't let my size fool ya – I'm a big bundle of joy just waiting to find my forever home! 🐾 I've been hanging out in my foster home for a few months now, and let me tell ya, I've got the seal of approval from my foster dad! He's always raving about how sweet and loving I am, and let's not forget my impressive people skills – I can get along with any pup I meet! 🐶 I've got this knack for diffusing any tense situations with my goofy antics – whether it's rolling around, jumping over things, or wiggling my way into someone's space, I'm all about spreading those good vibes and showing everyone that life's meant to be enjoyed! 😄 Check out my personality in action: https://youtu.be/8S1E5XorCeA Sure, I may look a bit awkward sometimes with my long legs and silly behavior, but trust me, I'm as athletic as they come! I love zooming around and jumping for joy – it's like I've got springs in my paws! 🐾 And let me tell ya, my foster dad gets a kick out of watching me run – my joy is just contagious! 🏃‍♂️ But hey, I'm not just a goofball – I've got some serious house manners too! I'm crate-trained, walk like a champ on leash, and I'm all about those car rides. Plus, I adore kiddos – they're like my favorite playmates! 👶 I'm on the lookout for a forever home where I can be a part of the family and go on all sorts of adventures together. Once we bond, I'll be your trusty sidekick – whether we're exploring the great outdoors or just cuddling up on the couch. And hey, I've got great recall, so you can bet I'll stick close by your side! 🌟 So, if you think I might be the perfect fit for your crew, don't hesitate to reach out to my adoption coordinator. Story
If you have an idea of what type of dog a German Shepherd is, then you mostly know Oobie. Take all that classic German Shepherd, sprinkle a bunch of charm on it and give it a real good looking face and you have Oobie. In rescue we avoid saying a dog is a purebred anything, because who knows, but I would bet good money on Oobie being all 100% German Shepherd. This boy comes preloaded with what I like to call the Deluxe Package which includes auto-sit and sit on command, down on command, he is house trained, is a solid dog friendly dog, and is a gentleman to cats. As you would expect with a German Shepherd, he is loyal, protective, and loves real big! But this isn’t your “watch-dog,” sure he will make you feel protected but he also has the important role of fluff-exterminator in fluffy toys, and trying to out race trucks on the other side of the fence. He knows one day he will win the fight against all the fluff and someday the truck will be too slow. Until then he carries on! Oobie has been fortunate to be in a foster home where he quickly fit right in. He easily integrated into a pack of 8 dogs, found his favorite spot where he sleeps all night with no accidents or disturbances, and showed the resident cats that he may be big but he is big-friend. The only thing he isn’t too sure about is the lawn mower and edger, but he has agreed to only bark from a distance a couple times then go back to loving and lounging. A dream home for Oobie would include room to roam, he loves the freedom and feels obviously proud of his role as a dog with a home and people to keep company and care for. His current foster is a retired couple and we can all see how much Oobie glows living the home life with someone everyday. A homebody, with a bit of land they want kept an eye on, while being adored deeply by a dog is our idea of Oobie’s ideal match. If you happen to be familiar with German Shepherds and they way they “work,” that would be a double-cherry on top of perfection! Other dogs are not needed but if you have them Oobie will be an easy companion. A little insight into Oobie’s role at the rescue before he was with his foster- Oobie was what we call an Assessment dog. This is basically a gold star in the 3LP world, a dog that is so stable and consistent he is used to gauge an in-coming dogs personality towards other dogs. Inviting if they were friendly, neutral if they were unsure, aloof and avoidant if the dog shows signs of being aggressive. Oobie has helped save hundreds of dogs by being such a stable, non-conflict dog. He carved out a huge space in the heart of everyone at the rescue and if we start awarding dogs with our version of a Medal of Honor, we have discussed naming it an Oobie Service award. If you are looking for an amazing dog to add to your pack and/or a loyal and adoring companion to have by your side- Oobie is perfection! If there are any details we didn’t cover or you have questions about the adoption process, let us know! Oobie is available for Greater Houston meet & greets! We are willing to test Oobie with anything you need us to in order to ensure he is the perfect match for you! Story
Meet Henry Cloud! Henry is 2 years old and around 50 lbs. Already gone through the potty training and puppy stages, he is ready to focus on finding his forever home. Henry is really a wonderful boy who we think is a German Shepherd Mix but does have some cute floppy years, so maybe lab? But with rescue its always a guess. But what is really important and the star of the show is his wonderful personality! Henry is a confident boy who loves to play. He does well with all different playstyles of dogs, and would do great in a doggy daycare or playing with other dogs. Although he is playful, he is very respectful and not overly barky or jumpy. He is potty trained, crate trained and although he will need time to adjust to a new home, doesn't show signs of separation anxiety and is used to staying in his crate when his foster mom and dad leave the house. He is still a pretty active guy so will need a home to take him on walks or fun adventures, and he would love another dog in the home to play with but would be fine as an only dog if its an active family. He has not lived with cats but did well with his cat test and could potentially live with a dog savy cat. Some of Henry's favorite things to do are play with his ball, go for walks, and spend time with any person he can get to know! If you are looking for a fun, playful adult dog who loves to give kisses, this is your guy! 🐾 Meet Randy! 🐾 Say hello to Randy, a majestic German Shepherd mix tipping the scales at approximately 80 pounds. We estimate he's around four years old. Randy has a light brown coat, elegant black accents, and long, agile legs. Randy is the epitome of elegance and sweetness. He's incredibly obedient, especially when it comes to using his crate. Fully crate and house-trained, Randy is a model of good behavior inside the home. His playful side emerges when engaging in a game of catch or enjoying a lively play session with other dogs. A true German Shepherd at heart, Randy possesses a high energy level and thrives in an environment where he can run and play. He would flourish in a home with a sizable fenced backyard, making him the perfect companion for someone with space for him to explore. While he enjoys the company of other dogs, he can be pretty vocal during play and may need slow introductions to new pup friends. A fun fact about Randy is his newfound love for water! Whether it's a trip to the lake or splashing along the shore at the ocean, he's all in for aquatic adventures. Living harmoniously in a foster home with dogs and children ranging from toddlers to teens, Randy has proven to be fantastic with kids. His favorite activity is playing fetch, especially with other dogs, which is a testament to his friendly and playful demeanor. While Randy has some leash training, he does need further guidance to refine his leash etiquette, mainly when he spots other dogs. One important note for potential adopters is that Randy will require a cat-free home, as he was too interested during his cat test. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate, and energetic companion who can match every step of your active lifestyle—and maybe even challenge you to a splash in the water—Randy is the perfect guy. Ready to welcome this beautiful, spirited boy into your home and heart? 🐶❤️ Please email : Kristin@threelittlepittiesrescue.org with any questions. Story
Johnny is a big puppy - like big, and still thinks he's a little puppy; which means he's a bit of a handful at times. But, he absolutely loves to be around people and desperately wants to play with other dogs - his size and enthusiasm just make it important that he play with the right dog. That said, his 74 lb 6 foot frame didn't inhibit him from having a great time playing with an 11 lb Chiweenie and the two of them had a fantastic time.Johnny will turn anything into a toy, including ropes, buckets, rawhide bones - you name it.If you are a dog lover, and patient person willing to give him lots of positive praise, support and pets, I promise - Johnny will love you forever, and with every ounce of his very, very big heart. He even gives hugs.Visit this link to apply: form.jotform.us/60136667457159   ##1493838##

Story
I'M SCOUT! I'm a 2-year-old German Shepherd mix in need of a foster or forever home. I've been waiting for many months for someone to choose me! I weigh about 64 lbs. and am a handsome boy. I was rescued from a shelter, where I was kenneled with another dog and did great! However, I would likely do best with a submissive dog, possibly a female. I love being petted and I love, love, love food. I would do well with an active person or people who go for walks, hikes and other outings. Can you foster or adopt me? Please email for an application.

Story
This black beauty is Sombra, which means “shadow” in Spanish. We called her that because of her coloring, but she soon lived up to her name, following us all around the house just wanting to be near. She is around 3 years old and 66 lbs currently Sombra was found with a rusty chain around her neck, that had been caught on a tree stump out in the county. She had escaped being chained up and neglected in someone’s yard only to be trapped again… there was no question as to what we had to do - we brought her home, cleaned her up and cared for her. She is healthy and honing her social skills. She is a true social butterfly and has never met a stranger. She loves people and gets so excited when she meets someone new, male or female. Sombra lives with 3 other dogs (two blue heelers and a chihuahua) plus two cats. Sombra would do best with a dog friendly cat, as she wants to play with them and can chase to instigate play. Sombra has also spent time making friends at doggy day care and weekend boarding. She is loyal, smart, and charmingly stubborn! Sombra can still be anxious in new places or at the vet so will need a family with patience to help her build confidence in her new environment! She also lives with two small children, ages 3 & 5, and Sombra loves their cuddles and attention. She is respectful of their size and space, and will lay with them or let them lay with her and squish on her face. Sombra loves her daily walks, usually two separate laps a day around the neighborhood. She loves to chew her soft squeakers, rip apart her stuffed animals and wander the yard for “snacks”. But her favorite thing is just being near you. As said, she lives up to being a sombra, a shadow. She will lay by you in your office as you work from home, she’ll follow you around as your do laundry and dishes, she’ll lay on the floor/couch/bed as you watch a movie. Sombra would do best with someone home throughout the day because she loves her people so much! She is an athletic girl and would do best in a home with a family who wants to do training, agility, or a fun dog sport with her. She loves to use her mind. She can be vocal so no apartments for this girl. Sombra is going to make a great companion for someone and/or their family. She would be good with other dogs, confident cats or kids. Her new humans need to be confident and consistent, but most of all love her! She is a beautiful presence deserving of love.
