💖 Carie Hartt: Ready to BlossomMeet Carie Hartt, a beautiful Shepherd mix who arrived at the shelter as a stray and is looking for a gentle home to help her shine! Carie is a little timid right now, which is understandable given her journey, but she is also showing a wonderful curiosity about the world around her.She just needs a patient family who can provide a quiet, safe space where she can decompress and get comfortable at her own pace. We are confident that once she settles in and starts to trust, her true, loving personality will emerge. Could you be the calm presence Carie needs to warm up and become your devoted companion? Here's what you need to know about me:I have some handling sensitivity. That means I have some preferences about how and where I get petted. My human friends at the shelter can tell you more!I can be nervous around new people. It just takes me a little while to get comfortable. But once I get to know you, I'm very loving.I can be shy in new spaces. I need a family who will let me take things at my own pace as I learn about new things. Once I come out of my shell, I have lots of love to give.I'm easy going. Wanna go for a walk? Okay. Hang out in the yard? No problem. Just relax on the couch? I can do that. I'm pretty happy to go at your pace and I don't really need much more than most dogs do. If you're looking for a steady companion, I'm all yours. It's recommended I meet any dogs or kids living in my new home before I'm adopted. I just want to make sure we all get along.I'm not on the general adoption floor. You might not see me when you come to visit. So please speak to an adoption counselor if you'd like to meet me.I'm available for Trial Adoption! If you're interested in taking me home for 2 weeks before making a final decision, please speak to an adoption counselor. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 69 Age: 1yrs 11mths 2wks

Story
Hi, I’m Fern! Honestly, I answer mostly to squeaky toys and snack bags right now. I’m a 14-week-old puppy, probably a Boxer/Shepherd mix (your guess is as good as ours), and I’m in full bloom — the wiggly, bouncy, endlessly curious kind. Like any good plant, I thrive on love, attention, and a little structure to help me grow strong. I’m playful, sweet, and very into my people. I’ll follow you around the house like a sunflower chasing sunlight and melt into your arms when it’s time to rest. I don’t know much yet — I’m still figuring out this whole “being a dog” thing — but I’m eager to learn and always down for a challenge (especially if treats are involved). I’ll need plenty of training, consistency, and patience as I grow. Right now, I’m basically a tiny tornado of paws and promise. But with the right care? I’ll grow into something really special. So if you're ready to raise a puppy, get your hands a little dirty, and help something wild and wonderful take root — I just might be your girl. Let’s grow together. I weigh 15 pounds and my adoption fee is $300, it includes registration of my microchip, a sample of my food, new leash/collar and toy & treat packet. I am spayed and vaccinated.

Story
COURTESY POST: This dog is not currently with Stumptown Strays. She is in need of a new home and here is what her person says about her: "Meet Pie, a 1.75 year old German Shepherd mix looking for her (human) other half. Pie is human-esque, bright, loyal, affectionate, and TRULY a once-in-a-lifetime kind of dog. Her Portland-based cult following says it all. Charisma MACHINE. Pie first came to Portland after being hit by a car and having a plate installed in her leg. Despite the medical trauma, she LOVES the vet. Appointment times do not apply to Pie; she would prefer to be waved straight into the back to hang out with her pals. I mention this specifically because it tells you everything about the kind of dog Pie is; resilient and determined to enjoy life, no matter the odds. We adopted Pie six months ago and have gotten to see her blossom. The joy she exudes is unmatched. She is, quite literally, the smartest dog we have ever met. Soon, she will be able to search things out using her nose! She loves to participate in everything you do, whether that be baking, putting away groceries, or gardening. She does great in a car, can walk on a leash, and with a bit of training, she will be the dog you can take with you on any adventure. When life gets loud, Pie will often request alone time and wants us to put on her favorite show, Bob’s Burgers (her favorite character is Louise if that tells you anything about her). As much as we love her, Pie has decided that it’s time to find a home where she is the only pet. She loves to play with other dogs, but it seems like they’re not ideal housemates for her. Pie is looking for her other half. She doesn’t need perfection in a home, she just needs her person. A Bob's Burgers loving, semi-active human who will love her back with the same intensity she would love you with." If you are interested in meeting Pie, please either send us a message through PetFinder or email info@stumptownstrays.org! There is no adoption fee for Pie. Due to her injury, Pie does need to stay on chronic pain medication and she does best while also on Prozac for her anxiety.
