Story
Animal Profile: Chief is a male Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix (best guess), estimated to be 7/8 months old and currently weighing  52 lbs . He and 3 siblings were surrendered to Freer Animal Shelter and were then taken in by our rescue partner in Texas where they were placed in a foster home to ready for their trip to the PNW to find forever homes. They are good with dogs and people, and doing well with crate training. We are estimating they will be in the 70 lb range full grown. Due to his breed we will only be considering adoption to families with homes with secure fenced yards. Large breed experience and a canine companion preferred. We will post more information when we get to know him in foster care. Foster Update: Chief was very shy and timid when he came to our home, hiding in his crate. But within a few days his real personality came out: sweet and funny. He loves to snuggle with his people on the couch and get belly rubs. He loves his foster sisters and follows them around on their adventures. He adores his toys and makes little piles of them, then carries them around proudly for all to admire. Chief loves his crate, it is his safe place and he will sleep through the night in it. He only had one accident ever in the house, otherwise he’s been perfect about going outside even in the rain or when it’s cold. He only very rarely barked - after a few days he stopped altogether - and is very gentle. He loves treats and is food motivated; he’s already learned sit and is doing better with the new concept of a leash. With a little training and a loving home, Chief will be the best boy in the world. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog is being transferred from our partner in Texas and arriving via Paws Up Rescue on 02/19/2024 to the Seattle area. This dog will be fostered in the greater Seattle area and available for adoption once evaluated in foster care.March 1, 2024, 4:34 am
