Story
Meet Loki At 135 pounds of pure love and personality, Loki is a 4-year-old Great Dane looking for his forever home! He’s a big sweetheart who’s powered by snuggles and thrives when he can be close to his people—so he’s hoping to find a human who works from home and doesn’t mind a constant cuddle buddy. Despite his size, Loki still gets the zoomies and loves to romp around when the mood strikes! He’s crate and potty trained, though he’ll let you know (loudly!) if he’s put in a crate without a comfy bed—this guy loves his cozy spots. Loki can be a little cautious when meeting new people and may growl at first, but once he warms up, he’s full of affection—offering endless kisses, hugs, and heart-melting loyalty. He would do well in a home with or without another dog. Because of his size and sensitive nature, a home with Great Dane experience is highly recommended. Loki also has a high prey drive, so consistent leash training is a must to help him stay focused and safe on walks. If you’re looking for a big-hearted companion who will fill your home with love, laughter, and the occasional zoomie, Loki might just be your perfect match. ##2565971##

Story
Name: Rudy Breed: Great Dane Sex: Neutered Male Age: 7.5 years Weight: 110 lbs Animal Number: 4301 Sweet, Gentle, Affectionate, Cuddly Good with dogs? Yes, he lives with two resident dogs, one young and energetic, the other older and laid back. He barks at most dogs on leash and is responsive to commands. Good with cats? No. Rudy is interested in and may chase cats and other small animals like squirrels, bunnies and birds. Good with kids? Not Tested, but he is a gentle giant. Due to his size and the possibility of him accidentally knocking into a smaller person, kids 10+ may be best. Energy level: Medium to Low. He enjoys one or two mellow walks a day, and does well on a leash. He is a buddy dog and loves cuddling. Animal Characteristics: Rudy is sweet, gentle, affectionate and cuddly. He has a stunning blue merle coat, a charming smile, soulful eyes and a kind, calm spirit as big as his handsome frame. He is always ready to lean in for love and snuggles. Lovable Rudy lost his comfortable home and doggie sibling when his owner could no longer care for him. Despite the sudden change, Rudy remains a cheerful boy who believes his brighter days are ahead. Rudy is well-mannered, knows how to sit, walks well on a leash, and carries himself with dignity. He happily follows his humans from room to room, then relaxes for a nap on a cozy couch or in his big dog bed. He is worried by loud noises or sudden movements and appreciates the comfort of human companionship. He is friendly, likes meeting new people, and only barks at noises coming from the outside of his home. Rudy is a magnificent pup who is ready to meet his forever family! Meet Duke! Duke is a new rescue to Ace of Hearts and we are still learning more about him! What we do know is that he is very timid right now and still learning to trust his people... however, like your typical dane he has been nothing but gentle and friendly for this entire process.

Story
Goliath was picked up as a puppy at six months old and has been at the shelter in Wortham, Texas ever sincec- over 900 days. He was just a stray found on the highway. As with many Danes, he’s a very sensitive dog. He's also very smart. When he gets out of his kennel he is so happy and loves to run and play. He loves treats and toys. The minute it’s time to go back into his kennel, he pouts and is so sad. Once in his kennel, he will ignore you and won’t even take a treat from you. He goes to his dog house and just pouts- it's heartbreaking. He absolutely loves to go for walks, but he’s so smart and knows when it’s time to turn around, that means it’s time to go back to the shelter and he will stop in the middle of the road and refuse to walk because he doesn’t want to go back to the shelter.  For the first time in over 900 days, he had a adopter. He lasted there one week before he got sent back due to signs of jealousy of the other dog. It has officially been determined he cannot be in a home with other dogs or cats. He is a sweet, sweet boy that will be a wonderful dog for somebody. He just wants the focus to be on him. He’s tired of the shelter life. He desperately wants a home. Unfortunately Goliath, and all the animals at the Wortham shelter, have little prospects as the shelter does little to no adoptions. There is a small group of individuals in Wortham that work tirelessly to network (and vet, on a very limited budget) these animals to foster-based rescues in and out of Texas that are willing to consider them. Red Fern was contacted by one of these volunteers who together with her high school daughter, go to the holding facility every day to walk the dogs, socialize them, take them to the vet, and just spend quality time with them. Potty trained? Unknown  Crate trained? Unknown  Leash trained? Yes, loves walks.  Goliath is fully vetted and HW negative. Red Fern Animal Rescue offers a two week foster to adopt trial in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure the animal is the right fit for you, everyone in the home, human & animal, and vice versa. Red Fern Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based animal rescue in Denver that saves animals from abandonment and neglect in South Texas for new lives in Colorado. We primarily rescue dogs off the streets and from kill shelters in San Antonio. ##2608396##

Story
Riot is a super sweet 4.5 year, 130 pound big baby & the most sweet, affectionate, friendly, handsome boy. He is super easy as he sleeps most of the time. He wants to be with you & will follow you to whatever room you go into. He gives “gentle kisses” & you can apply “gentle” to anything you tell him. Riot is also great with kids! Riot needs slow intros to other dogs but has happily lived with a 45 pound dog for over a year as well as many female puppy fosters.  Riot needs a foster home for a couple months while his pawrent moves. The ideal home would have no dogs, but he could be introduced to one other easy going dog. If that sounds like you, please consider him and reach out so we can discuss. If not, please share with your network. Thank you. Story
KaiaKona is a sweet, loving, and playful dog. She is either sleeping, playing with toys, or running around the yard. She is a mellow dog, but gets excited when going outside and playing and will do best in a home with older children. She would like a home with a yard as she likes to run around or sunbathe. She knows all basic cammands and is house trained. She had free roam at her last home and did fine. We have owned her for several months and are experiencing alpha conflicts with an existing dog, so she is crated when there is no one in the home. She is having crate anxiety when left alone. She still sleeps in a crate with the door open or closed at night and is fine with a person in the room with her. She would do best as an only pet and will repay you with her loving personality. She would do best with an experienced owner who understands the needs of a large dog.
