NOTE: THIS IS A COURTESY LISTING FOR THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER IN CARLSBAD. YOU WILL NEED TO CONTACT THEM TO MEET SWIPER: 2481 Palomar Airport Road, Carlsbad, CA 92011. Swiper is available for adoption or foster. The shelter is open for animal viewing Tue-Fri from 1 pm to 3:30 pm and Sat-Sun from 10 am until 3:30 pm. You can also meet Swiper at other times by scheduling an appointment at (619)767-2675. Be sure to mention Swiper's ID number, which is A1917305. Who says large dogs can't be perfect gentlemen? Swiper, a neutered white and black Great Pyrenees/Shepherd mix, is living proof that gentlemanly dogs sometimes wear a size XL! From the moment you meet this handsome, calm soul with striking blue eyes, your blood pressure will drop because when you're near Swiper, you can't help but feel the calming energy that he puts out into the universe. This polite and respectful fellow is relaxed and very easy-going around people. He walks well on a leash, takes treats gently, knows several doggie commands, and does all that he can to stay house-trained despite living in a shelter kennel. Swiper loves to get and give affection, but that doesn't mean he constantly needs attention; he sometimes appreciates having some time to himself to play with toys, rest and relax, and daydream. In addition to being house-trained, he is up to date on vaccinations, weighs 93 lbs., and is three years old. If you're looking to add a calm, kind, affectionate, and gentle spirit to your family, Swiper is waiting for you. You can meet Swiper at the San Diego County Animal Shelter North Campus, 2481 Palomar Airport Road, Carlsbad, CA 92011.

Story
This is a courtesy listing, not a SPOT Rescue dog. For more information regarding he, contact Gina below... Looking to rehome our sweet and cuddly 4 year old dog as he doesn't do well with small children. We have learned this the hard way after he bit our 11 month old pretty bad on the face, resulting in ER stitch sites. He is easy to train and although we could likely work with him, we don't feel comfortable keeping him as we grow our family. The incident was considered provoked, he does great with older children and doesn't have any other history of biting. He's very sweet, affectionate, gentle and silly. He loves getting belly rubs and nuzzling into you to snuggle. He's known to offer silly toothy grins when happy and enjoys praise and affection. He lights up on walks halfway through to boop you with his nose and get pets to say how happy he is. He enjoys walks, going hiking, sniffing around the yard, sunbathing, catching balls and playing fetch in the ocean. His favorite toys are balls and squeaky stuffed animals (the more squeakers, the better!) Like most dogs, he needs regular exercise to stay happy and not fall into boredom but doesn't require anything crazy. We've always done daily walks with him (long or short) and if you do a hike or big excursion it will tire him out for a couple days. He's not destructive (even if he doesn't get exercise) and is pretty laid back. He usually lounges around the house all day or stays in the yard. He has completed 1:1 obedience training and passed with flying colors. We also worked with him on his strong prey drive where he'd want to chase bikers or runners. This is easily kept in check and we had no issues with him after the training. We also did off leash shock collar training. No issues with barking and he's friendly to other people. He is neutered and completely potty trained. He currently lives with our 15 year old beagle and they get along and mostly just ignore each other. Serious inquiries only please! Asking $200 adoption fee. Gina at gina.domenichetti@gmail.com

Meet Igor! He was found skin and bones wandering around in the streets. He was taken in by an individual rescuer. He is currently in a temporary foster home in Texas but can be transported throughout the US or Canada. Igor is an amazing guardian dog who would love to have the job of protecting a farm/land, but also enjoys cuddles and having a family. He is the full package for a family searching for a great pyrenees to keep their property protected with a loyal pup!

Story
We adopted Marshie from our neighbors, and she is three years old now, born January 12, 2021. She has been spayed, her shots are up to date, and she is house-trained, but not crate trained. She is very affectionate, she'll sleep/cuddle with you and give you a million kisses when she gets excited to see you. She needs an experienced owner who will understand the characteristics of her breed: she barks mainly during the night, to protect against potential predators. She can be protective, as she resource guards her toys, but she does not guard her food and is okay with being around others while eating. Our main concern is that she, sadly, bit someone in the past. Our house was under construction which was stressful for Marshie who wasn't used to the commotion & strangers being in her home. Following her instincts, she bit one of the workers, which didn't need stitches. She is only protective in her territory. Marshie needs a loving, understanding, & structured home where she can thrive.

Story
Beautiful great pyrenes dog, less than 2 years old. He has been with us since he was a puppy, we need to rehome him because he is not respectful of my other dogs space or food which is creating a tense environment for him to be in. A home where he is the only dog will be ideal. He grew up with other animals, he is gentle with kids and great with people. He is the happiest dog and wants more love and attention than I can give him. He is goofy and loves to play. He grew up in a multi-dog household with plenty of space to run, he will require training during dinner time to give other dogs the time to eat their food.

Story
Gorgeous great pyrenes, coat color is unique. GG is a great guard dog, he is serious, smart and observant, he is less than 2 years old. He needs to find a new home because since he was a puppy he is not willing to share his space during dinner time, unfortunately we are a multi-dog household and if we separate him to eat he gets anxious so I am running out of options to make him comfortable. He has always been with other dogs, but he might thrive if he is the only dog.

Story
Totem came from a Craigslist ad in Temecula California. He just turned 2 years the first week of March 2024 and he's 68 lbs/perfect health. He's been well cared for in a loving home since he was 8 weeks old. We moved from a 2.5 acre horse ranch to a normal sized backyard. Totem isn’t getting the exercise and attention that he used to. He's a super sweet boy, loves to cuddle, enjoys chew toys, loves to play with balls but refuses to return the ball. Totem does well being boarded and at the dog park, although he can be timid at first or bark if another dog is aggressive towards him. He's lived with other dogs, cats and kids. He does like to jump up on you for attention but he knows redirect commands. Challenges: Totem will bark in his yard if he hears intruders; but he's easily redirected with finger snaps. He will pee when scared or excited sometimes. Ideal Home: Active family, ideally with pets
