Story
🐾 Meet Appa Appa is a loving, loyal dog who forms strong bonds with his people. He is very gentle and affectionate and enjoys cuddling, sleeping near his person, and being part of a calm daily routine. When he meets new people, he can get excited and likes to “hug” as a way of saying hello. He does well on walks, transitions calmly on leash, and responds well to structure and guidance. Appa enjoys companionship, consistency, and having a space where he feels secure. Appa would thrive best as the only pet, or in a home without small dogs or cats. He is not dog-reactive on walks or outside the home, but he can become territorial with other animals in his personal space. He is a wonderful dog who deserves a home that matches his needs, ideally with experienced owners, older children or teens, and no small animals. Our goal is to find Appa a safe, loving home where he can fully settle in and be his best self.

Story
Lumos (Lu) is a beautiful 4-year-old mix (Great Pyrenees/Lab/Boxer) looking for her forever home. This sweetheart weighs 75 lbs and is the perfect blend of playful, cuddly, and independent. • Must Be an Only Dog: We have learned that Lu requires a home where she is the sole dog. She is much happier and stress-free without other canine companions, particularly female dogs. • Loves the Outdoors: She is an excellent rodent (squirrel) deterrent and absolutely adores spending time outside. She loves to play chase and tug! • Home & Family Life: Lu is completely house and crate trained. She is wonderful with school-aged children and is good with cats. She is a great alert system for outdoor disturbances but is generally mellow indoors. She also makes a great nap buddy and can be very cuddly. Lu is spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. If you have the space, the love, and an only-dog spot on your couch, you should meet Lu!

Story
Vivian, a sweet 3-year-old Pyrenees mix, is a loving mama rescued from a tough start. Now healthy and ready for adventure, she loves water, car rides, and exploring. She's house-trained, crate-trained, potty-trained, leash-trained, and has great recall, doing great on walks and at social gatherings. Ideally, she needs a secure, fenced yard and a home without cats, but with bigger, playful dog companions. Feed separately, she's respectful of seniors but would thrive with more energetic pals. She's spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and loves bath time! ##2372826##

Story
Meet Quinn — Your Gentle Giant Looking for His Perfect Match Quinn is a big-hearted 150 lb Great Pyrenees mix with a calm, steady nature and a loving personality. He bonds closely with his people and thrives in a peaceful, predictable home. Quinn is wonderful with humans — attentive, affectionate, and happiest when he’s being petted, brushed, or simply hanging out nearby. He’d do well with an individual, a couple, or a family with older kids (10+). He’s also great with other animals. Quinn lives harmoniously with a smaller resident dog and has done beautifully in a kennel environment around many other dogs. He has also been respectful and appropriate with a household cat. True to his breed mix, Quinn enjoys spending time outdoors. He currently sleeps in a heated garage in his crate and loves cool weather, relaxing outside, and observing the world around him. He doesn’t dig or chew, but he will happily bark at squirrels, geese, turkeys, or unfamiliar people approaching the yard — classic Pyrenees watchdog behavior. On walks, Quinn does well with a gentle leader and is generally easy to manage, though he may need a reminder if wildlife catches his eye. He knows “sit” and “stay,” and while “come” isn’t his strongest skill yet, he tries his best. Quinn is a sweet, loyal, low-maintenance dog who will make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a big, gentle presence in their life. If you think Quinn might be your perfect match, we’d love for you to meet him. ##1916971##

To apply or learn more, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2025/11/11/palomita Meet one of our newest rescue, Palomita Palomita is a one year-old female mixed breed (Great Pyr, Aussie best guess). We rescued her this month from Yolo county shelter — unfortunately she had a bad upper respiratory infection and had to be admitted to UCD vet where she battled and is continuing to make a great recovery. She is currently being fostered in Sacramento with children. She loves people but due to her sickness has not been tested around dogs yet. She is housetrained & loves walks. She is 75 lbs of gentle sweetness and will be spayed once medically cleared. We are currently accepting pre-apps now at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adopt Interested in adopting? 1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application 2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call! 3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time. Follow facebook.com/heartsforpawsrescue & Instagram @heartsforpawsrescue for more!
