Hello, my name is Stars, and I'm a large, gentle Great Pyrenees girl with a heart as big as my size. My beautiful, fluffy coat and soulful eyes might catch your attention, but it's my shy and timid nature that truly defines me.I can be quite cautious at first, taking my time to warm up to new people and environments. The world can feel like a big, overwhelming place for me, so I appreciate patience and understanding from those around me. Once I feel safe and comfortable, you'll discover my sweet and loving side. Story
3/10/22: Nova now needs a new experienced foster home or forever home as the only dog. She did great with adopter's 2 adult dogs but now at 9 mos. old she wants to the top alpha dog at home. With her people she is very sweet smart attentive treat motivated and loves snuggling. She needs to be the only dog in home. No other dog or cats in home. From her foster/adopters: She is a big active girl who loves walks playing fetch and splashing around in her kiddie pool. Nova was originally adopted by her foster family who have had her since she was 9 weeks old and absolutely adore her. Unfortunately despite growing up with their other dogs and doing great with them as a small puppy as she grew to be the largest member of the pack she became reactive toward other dogs. Her family has worked with trainers on this issue. She is a very smart girl and is improving in public settings. Unfortunately Nova is just not well-suited for life in a multi-dog household. Nova is cuddly and lovable with her people. She is a highly trainable girl as she is very food-motivated and a fast learner. She has been through puppy training and excelled in agility activities. She does well in a crate. Nova is a sweet girl who just needs some solo attention. She would do well with an experienced handler in a home with no other animals or small children. https://photos.app.goo.gl/ejWd5yRDRpNBCQCt8 Below is from Nova's original posting in 2021: We took in Nova from a kind lady that rescued her mom from a field in Bakersfield. Mom was starved and very skinny. Most likely dumped. Soon mom gave birth to one puppy. The guardian took her mom to her vet and had x-rays done and no other pups. Nova is very special. Lady that found her already has 2 dogs (one senior dog with medical needs) and busy work schedule so she asked us to take in Nova to ensure her puppy training care and socials. Nova is doing great at her foster home. She has huge paws double rare dew claws fluffy and very sweet. Not sure what breed mix she is. Mom is 60 lbs and very sweet. She will need a home with yard prefer another dog at home and experience with large dogs. Nova will be ready in 2-3 weeks after all her vet care. More info. to come. 8/21/21 update: It took her 4-5 days to start playing with foster home's dog. Will chase the ball and chewing. Does like to dig. Loves food and treats. Going out to yard for potty biz and few accidents inside.July 14, 2024, 1:22 am

Story
Fitness was born in July 2021, and we’ve had her since she was 11 weeks old. She is full of energy and is a loyal dog that guards her pack. She is eager to go on daily walks and she likes to bark at other dogs and moving objects such as bikers/scooters/skate boarders. She likes to be caressed, petted, and especially loves belly rubs. She is very alert and can focus well during training sessions. At dog parks, she gets along with other dogs. She is used to grooming and staying at dog boarding facilities, and when we pick her up, the staff always mentioned how sociable and sweet she was and that she never had any issues with other dogs.

Story
Casper 1 Year Old Male Great Pyrenees Mix 85-lbs, Neutered Background: Open to exploring placement outside of our Bay Area service area for the right fit. Must be experienced with Great Pyrenees or large dogs. Great Pyrenees are known for their independent nature and protective instincts, so someone who is familiar with these traits will be better equipped to handle Casper's behavior. We took in Casper's mother, a Great Pyrenees, along with his siblings last year. This decision was based on being told that the father was a Labrador Retriever which turned out not to be the case. Casper found a home through adoption but was eventually returned to us due to displaying resource-guarding behavior. With no available foster homes at the time, we had no choice but to place Casper in a boarding facility, where he was for five months until a foster home opened up. . Outside of the resource guarding, Casper's former family (four adults) described him as "very sweet and a quick learner. He loves to be around people and play fetch. He can be very gentle and loving. In the middle of the night, if he needed to go potty, he would gently lick my face until I woke up. I could go on for days about what a great dog Casper is. He knows how to play dead, he would go to his crate when we said it was time for bed. He liked sleeping in his crate, and we always left the crate door open for him. When it was warm, we would find him sleeping in our bathtub." What Casper's Foster Says: It seems my foster doesn’t know my name because he keeps calling me, “You Big Goof”. Can someone tell him my name is Casper? Casper is a big fluffy guy that has a “bubbly personality” is gentle, loving, devoted and a loyal companion. Casper’s favorite outing is to go hiking with our dog Cheyenne. He starts getting excited when we grab the car keys. Casper does really well riding in the truck. He loves to hang his head out the window. Casper met several friends (goats, Llamas, and horses) on the hikes. We haven’t started any off-leash training. Casper also likes to play tug-o-war and fetch with his toys. Casper sleeps in the crate that is located in our bedroom. When we start getting ready for bed, Casper will head to his crate. He’ll sleep through the night. Casper gets along pretty well with our female lab Cheyenne. There have been a couple of occasions when Cheyenne let Casper know that she was done playing. Casper did respect her wishes. Casper knows a significant number of commands; Sit, Down, Break (release command), Come, Crate, Place (designated space), Heel, Out, No (that something is not acceptable), Let’s go Potty and Who Wants a Treat. Casper is gentle when taking treats from your hand. Casper is 50% Great White Pyrenees. The Great Pyrenees originated in the Pyrenees mountains of Europe which form the border between France and Spain. They were developed by the Basque people to protect their flocks from predation by bears and wolves. It’s highly recommended that you read up on the breed if you are interested in adopting. 10 Tips for Training Great Pyrenees | It's Dog or Nothing (itsdogornothing.com) What Lab Rescue Rep Says: Casper needs someone experienced with the Great Pyrenees breed or large dogs. He should start out as the only dog and work with a local trainer to continue building his foundation. With the right measures taken, Casper can thrive. He has bad habits that need to be paid more attention to. From the boarding facility, he's not an aggressive dog by any means but stubborn and can be possessive of his space, especially with things of high value e.g. food and treats. We recommend that the person who adopts Casper work with a professional dog trainer to develop a training plan that is tailored to his specific needs. Casper is an affectionate dog and will thrive in a loving, structured environment and in a home with rules and boundaries. Medical: Casper is up to date on core vaccines, heartworm tested negative, microchipped, and neutered. Located In: Danville If you are interested in fostering or adopting, please contact Kris at krisellen.nm@gmail.com Please note our service area: GGLRR adopts to the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Our volunteers donate their personal time phones so please only call during reasonable hours (8am - 8pm). The Rescue Rep identified in the dog posting is the only person with information about the dog - please only contact the designated volunteer. We do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week; we do not have a facility where the dogs are housed, they are in foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
