Story
Approx. 3 year-old male Great Pyrenees mix. Weighs ~130lb. Adopted at about 12-18 mo old. His foster said he was found roaming in ag fields and neighborhoods in CA Central Valley. Good with family members, affectionate and attentive to his 2 owners. Likes human attention, especially petting and brushing. Could be good with an individual, a couple or a family with 10+ year old children. Good with other dogs. Gets along well with our other dog, a much smaller (60lb) Pyrenees/Shepherd mix. When out of town we take him to a kennel with large pens with 15-20 dogs. He does fine in that setting. He has also done well with our pet cat. Has been an outdoor dog at our house. Likes being outside. Seems to enjoy cold weather, although is fine in summer weather. Spends most evenings inside with us in enclosed patio. Sleeps at night in heated garage in crate with door open. Good on a gentle leader leash. Walking him is pretty easy. OK at sit and stay. Not so good at come.

Story
Gracie is a love... a BIG love! Though she is 66 pounds and should be at least 70, so she is not a huge Pyr at all. She sports a fairly manageable single coat with some undercoat but not a ton of extra fur like a big, classic Pyr, likely she could be a mix. Gracie had entropia surgery on one eye and that is mostly all healed up. She walks well on leash and is dog friendly, but can guard her food a bit with humans perhaps a bit and dogs, she was very thin, and needs a "Bottomless bowl for awhile which should help her with food anxiety, but this is why we have added the kids over 10 years attribute. Gracie is a very lovely girl deserving of a home with people to love, who understand Pyrs, and other critters too.....

Story
Kiwi is a delightful young Pyrenees-mix, happy go-lucky and hilarious! His foster family says that Kiwi is very friendly with people and loves other dogs. He doesn't seem too concerned about cats and doesn't have a huge prey drive. He loves being outdoors, running around with other dogs and his older with his toys (especially his stuffed otter). Kiwi has mixed colored eyes (each eye is 1/2 ice blue and 1/2 deep brown). We think he's close to full grown at about 60 lb. He's fully house trained, motivated to please, and has this wonderful tendency to be chill at home and very playful outside. This sweetest boy wants to be someone's best friend for life! Maintaining a dog social lifestyle is important towards making life with a Pyr in suburban areas and going out in the world successful and enjoyable. It's important to understand a bit about Pyrs before taking one home! Not a Golden Retriever in white.... not driven to please, they can be stubborn and they do have a big bark, They tend to be nocturnal .... classically they like large outdoor space to watch over and other animals and humans to protect .... terrific with children...

Story
Two beautiful boys, like so many other Great Pyrs, they landed in a Shelter where they had very limited time. Happily a foster offered to keep them a couple weeks so Milo could make room for them both to land at Milo Pt Richmond - and then go to our Sanctuary if they don't get adopted or fostered - as a kennel environment is no place for a GP long term! Great Pyrs are lovely creatures that come with their own bag of tricks, protective, watchful, usually very good with children and other dogs - as these are, as well when introduced properly they are classically good with other species big and small. Once situated however, they do become protective of their pack/flock/family so it is important to keep them well socialized in and out of the home. Pyrs have a HUGE bark that will make anyone think twice - but also make your neighbors unhappy, so that is definitely a consideration for Pyrs living in a suburban environment!! AND, they are stubborn and independent and not like a Golden Retriever who just wants to please... nope! So, please do your homework if considering a gentle giant like these polar bears, they also can prove difficult to get in and out of cars, hate crates - and LOVE being outdoors... but they are LOVES!

Story
The shyer of the two new Pyr ladies, but a sweetheart nonetheless. Catching up on her food intake (some shelters just don't feed enough!!) and she is anxious about food, so we are feeding lots! Helen is dog friendly, easy going, on the smaller side for a Great Pyr, a watchful guardian looking for a home with patient people. She and her daughter Madeline can be adopted together for $600.
