Raya is a beautiful female Great Pyrenees who was found running loose in Richmond, CA. Raya was very scared and timid when she first came to Jelly's and wouldn't leave her kennel or take treats from staff and volunteers. She has made a lot of progress and now happily comes out of her kennel and enjoys going to the yard where she plays with stuffed animals and munches on treats. Raya is a true example of her breed. She let's you know if a stranger walks nearby and is a great protector. Raya is NOT for a first time dog owner. She needs extra time meeting new people or being in new environments, so would do best in a quiet, all adult peaceful, predictable home with no other animals. Gracie is a love... a BIG love! Though she is 66 pounds and should be at least 70, so she is not a huge Pyr at all. She sports a fairly manageable single coat with some undercoat but not a ton of extra fur like a big, classic Pyr, likely she could be a mix. Gracie had entropia surgery on one eye and that is mostly all healed up. She walks well on leash and is dog friendly, but can guard her food a bit with humans perhaps a bit and dogs, she was very thin, and needs a "Bottomless bowl for awhile which should help her with food anxiety, but this is why we have added the kids over 10 years attribute. Gracie is a very lovely girl deserving of a home with people to love, who understand Pyrs, and other critters too.....

Meet Emma! This sweet lovebug wants nothing more than to be next to you or in your lap (what do you mean she's not a lap dog?!), and kisses absolutely can't be avoided! Emma landed herself a wonderful foster with a resident dog and two cats. She's slotted in perfectly and happily follows her foster parents around, lying with them or at their feet given the chance. She was confused by the cats at first but has shown no prey drive, just caution and excitement. She gets along great with the resident dog, taking cues on whether it's playtime or chill time, and she's capable of both and knows how to be calm and settle in the home. Emma is amazing on leash, despite her size. She walks calmly and next to you, occasionally stopping to sniff. She'll also walk well next to other dogs, so she'd be happy to join your neighborhood pack if you don't already have a dog! She's house trained, sleeps quietly through the night and is quickly picking up commands like "sit" and "down". She hasn't shown any alert behaviors so far, and isn't much of a talker. She will paw for affection or pets, but responds well to a "no". She would do best with someone who is not gone too long. She is not food motivated, but she is very affection motivated. She is clingy and wants to be close to people. This adaptable girl loves kids and is very gentle, so could make a great family dog, but would equally thrive on single companionship or a quiet life. Hank is a big beautiful 1 yr old boy that is fully/professionally trained. House trained (no accidents in over 6 months), crate trained (not a peep overnight for 9 hours even when my kids wake us up in the middle of the night), leash trained (amazing walker/ trained not to pull), well behaved in the car, loves going new places and meeting new people, takes treats gently. Hank is a mixed guardian shepherd breed and needs lots of exercise. If you have a big yard (which is needed for Hank), no need for a ball or frisbee, he will sprint around for hours by himself protecting your yard. He doesn't get along with our other male dog (8 year old lab) so we have to separate them. This is extremely difficult logistically with two other dogs and two young kids. His ideal home would have a large fenced yard and no other dogs.
