Story
This sweet pup is Sweet Sage, or Sweetie for short. She is 29 pounds of pure love. She is a 5 month old Great Pyrenees, with the softest fur you have ever felt. She loves kids and other dogs, has not met a cat, but foster mom thinks she would do fine with them. If you are looking for a buddy to exercise with, Sweetie may not be your girl. Walks usually end with her being carried home as she falls asleep in your arms. If you are looking for a pup to watch tv with you and sit on your lap, or sit outside by the fire while you roast marshmallows, she’s your girl. She does get small bursts of energy and will play, but is just as happy watching the other dogs in the house play. She does very well overnight in her crate, and goes in willingly with a treat. She is excelling at potty training, and is learning to ring a bell to be let outside, and is learning to sit to take her treats. Anyone who adopts Sweetie will be lucky indeed. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   May 5, 2024, 9:18 am

Story
Joey and Katie came to the Sanctuary together and have always been together. Joey takes all of his cues from her. He is a timid boy which takes some time to get to know. Once he loves you he will follow you anywhere, as long as Katie does too. After working with him a couple of months we are able to walk him with the pack of dogs at the Sanctuary but he still needs vigilant supervision with them. He is good with Katie but doesn't seem to know how to interact with the others and can become agitated with them. Joey and Katie seem to have had little socialization outside of their own yard. A positive reinforcement trainer would be great to have on hand when adopting them. They do need adopted as a set currently. We were hoping to work on Joeys socialization skills enough that they could be separated but it hasn't worked out as so. Katie would do fine but we fear Joey would fall apart. They are both large teddy bear dogs and would do well in a large fenced area. They like to come in but as long as they don't get too hot or wet they like hanging out outside. If your interested in adopting Joey and Katie it will take multiple visits before they are comfortable with you enough to go home. To adopt them please go to www.libertyacresunited.com and submit your application. Their adoption fee together is $150. For more information you can call or text 765-969-4782 For more information on the animals available for adoption and more information on the Sanctuary please visit us a www.libertyacresunited.com and don't forget to follow us on Facebook

Story
Fred is a very good dog. He is loving, and good tempered. He would do best on a farm, or a large property. He loves to be outside, and patrol the yard. He is very territorial, and so he will bark if/when someone comes to the door. He is housebroken, crate trained, and is overall very well behaved. We have children, and he is always very patient with them. He is shy to newcomers, so it may take him a minute to warm up to you, but once he does he will love you forever. The other thing to mention is that he is very territorial over his food, so he should be fed by himself, and not with another animal around. Other than that, he is a very good boy!
