Story
This is Nyla, our sweet 6 year old husky. She loves treats, gets the zoomies when she's excited, & enjoys sitting outside watching people walk by. She is a very loving dog & has been a cherished member of our family.Rehoming her is one of the hardest decisions we've had to make. Between a growing family, busy schedules, & the needs of our young children, we aren't able to give her the time and exercise she deserves. We want to find her a home where she can thrive & get all the attention, adventures, & love that huskies need.

Story
Ozzy was bought as a puppy for my sisters husband as a present. He quickly became their son’s dog. For the last 5 years he has been his full time care giver but he is now leaving for active duty military and can not keep him. No family members can keep him either. Ozzy is okay with cats, but would probably do better with no other dogs. He has not spent much time around other dogs but has shown some protective/aggressive behaviors around other dogs, but I think given time he could be okay. He has been around the children in our house, but closely monitored and I personally think he would do better with no children or children that are teenagers. We want Ozzy to go to a good home with people who will love him and give him the time he deserves to be a good dog!

Story
Meet Sweetie Pie8-year-old spayed female Husky looking for a very special home to spend her golden years in. Sweetie Pie came to the shelter as an owner surrender after her beloved owner sadly passed away. Another family member took her in temporarily, but due to having to move, they were no longer able to care for her. With her entire world changing so suddenly, Sweetie Pie has been understandably overwhelmed and frightened.During the stressful process of being removed from her home, Sweetie Pie was involved in a Level 2 fear-based bite (a bite that leaves minor redness, bruising, or slight scrapes). This incident occurred while she was scared, confused, and unsure of what was happening around her. Since arriving at the shelter, Sweetie Pie has shown us that beneath her timid exterior is a gentle soul who simply needs patience, understanding, and time to feel safe again.Sweetie Pie is not the type of dog who will trust instantly. She takes time to build confidence with new people, but once she does, her affectionate personality shines through. She loves to lay beside her person, enjoys quiet companionship, and truly believes she is a lap dog at heart. Watching her slowly come out of her shell is incredibly rewarding. As expected with her breed, Sweetie Pie is considered a flight risk and will need a home committed to safety and continued leash training. Prior to coming to the shelter, she had never been walked on a leash, but staff have already begun working with her and she is making progress. A securely fenced yard would be ideal for her comfort and safety, though it is not required with proper management and continued training.Sweetie Pie is searching for a calm, quiet, patient home that will allow her to adjust at her own pace. She would do best with adopters who understand shy or fearful dogs and are willing to give her the time she deserves to decompress and learn to trust again. After everything she has been through, Sweetie Pie deserves stability, compassion, and a family willing to see the loving dog behind the fear. If you have the patience to let her blossom, Sweetie Pie will reward you with a bond that is truly special.57 lbsIf you are interested in meeting Sweetie Pie, please visit the shelter during open adoption hours:Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 10 AM–12:30 PM & 2 PM–4 PMThursday: 10 AM–12:30 PM & 2 PM–6:30 PMSaturday: 9 AM–1 PMIf you do not own your home, please

Story
Violet came to us from a kill shelter with Diesel who has already been adopted. Violet has been waiting for a year now to find her family. She is so deserving and loving. Violet is a young, bouncy, happy girl, who is ready for family to love her. Violet would be happiest being the only dog in the home where she can get all the attention she deserves. Violet is a sweet, affectionate, smaller girl at 60lbs. and approximately a year and a half old. She is looking for a family with a fenced in yard and no small animals please. *********************************** If you are interested in ADOPTING or FOSTERING, please complete an application by cutting & pasting the following link: https://form.jotform.com/60794585351161 Or visit CHAAMP.org to access the Adoption/Foster link and learn about the process. https://www.chaamp.org/adoption-process Your application tells us about your lifestyle and helps us find a potential match for you and your family. We are happy to work with you. For example, if you don't have a fence, we can help find alternatives and/or a dog that will do well without a fence. A home visit is required prior to adoption/fostering. You can visit the malamute(s) once you've completed the process. Alternatively, you may volunteer and learn how rewards-based training brings out the best in malamutes. ********************************* CHAAMP accepts applications from Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington DC. Story
Current Location: Ellicott City, MD Meet Nala. This stunning 5 year old Husky mix weighs about 50 pounds and has the kind of beauty that stops people in their tracks. With her ice blue eyes, gorgeous smile, and joyful personality, Nala is impossible not to love. Nala is cheerful, affectionate, and full of life. She approaches the world with enthusiasm and seems to believe everyone she meets is a potential new best friend. Whether she is greeting visitors, heading out for a walk, or playing in the yard, her happy spirit is contagious. She has a wonderful balance of energy. Nala loves walks, games of fetch, squeaky toys, and zooming around the yard, but she also knows how to settle down and relax with her family after the fun is over. She enjoys being active without being overwhelming, making her a great companion for a family that enjoys getting out and doing things together. Nala is crate trained, leash trained, and potty trained. She is a quick learner who already knows sit, gives a paw for treats, and responds well to "no." She is highly motivated by both praise and treats, which makes training fun and rewarding. She loves having a job to do and enjoys learning new things. She gets along well with other dogs, although her playful enthusiasm can occasionally get the better of her during an exciting game. Her joyful energy is all part of her charm. Nala would love a home with a fenced yard where she can stretch her legs, chase a ball, and enjoy her famous zoomies. A somewhat active household that enjoys walks, playtime, and spending time together would be a perfect match. Beautiful, smart, affectionate, and endlessly fun, Nala is the complete package. She is ready to bring laughter, adventure, and unconditional love to the lucky family that welcomes her home.
