Meet Hugo Hugo is a 7-month-old, 35-pound puppy Husky mix. He came to Paws after a difficult start in life as one of more than 67 dogs rescued from an animal hoarding and abuse situation. Personality and Trust Because of his past, Hugo needs a kind, patient adopter who is willing to give him time, consistency, and reassurance as he learns to feel safe. He can be very skittish at first and may not feel comfortable around new people right away but will warm up to his people. Once trust begins to build, Hugo’s sweet and affectionate side shines through. He loves spending quiet time on the couch, cuddling close, and giving kisses to the people he trusts. Behavior and Training In social situations with people or other dogs, Hugo may growl or bark when he feels unsure, but he has not shown aggression. He may also try to run and hide, so he will need gentle support and gradual exposure to help build his confidence. High-energy puppy who enjoys activity and engagement Loves other dogs and thrives with canine companionship Enjoys walks and is making good progress with leash training Housebroken Good with cats Ideal Home Hugo would do best in a home with another dog of similar or larger size who has a compatible play style and can help him feel more secure. Meet Jovi! Jovi is around 11 months old now. She’s a 40lb husky mix, and she has been patiently waiting for a home of her very own since she was a puppy. Jovi came into our shelter with her littermates back in April after being rescued from a terrible hoarding case. And we can hardly believe how far this girl has come. When she first arrived, she was a terrified little puppy covered in layers of waste, and now look at her. She’s happy, clean, beautiful, and full of personality. We never imagined we’d watch Jovi grow from a scared puppy into an adult right here in our kennel. But that’s exactly what’s happening. Jovi can be a little shy when she first meets you, but give her some time to warm up and you’ll get to see the real Jovi. She’s goofy, playful, silly girl who loves having fun! She’s learned SO much since coming to us, and now she’s ready for the next step: a home where she can continue growing into the happy, confident dog she was always meant to be. Earning Jovi’s trust is actually pretty simple. Give her a calm voice, spend some time with her, be patient... and bring TREATS. Lots of treats. The way to this girl’s heart is definitely through her stomach! Jovi would do best with another playful dog in her home. Having a playful doggy sibling would help her continue building confidence, learn how to be a dog, and give her the companionship she needs as she experiences something completely new... a loving, clean, and stable home of her own. Jovi is playful. She’s happy. She’s goofy. And she is so incredibly deserving after everything she’s been through in her first months of life. She doesn’t need anything fancy. She just needs patient and understanding people, a doggy sibling, and a safe place where she can finally grow up knowing what it feels like to be loved. Top of the mornin' to ya! It's me Mullen, the most pleasant lad you'll ever meet! You don't hear about many Irish Siberian Huskies now do ya? But, here I am! With my ginger-red coat I am the talk of the town, however, I can only be adopted in my town because I am kind of an anxious kind of fellow. I love other dogs and must be adopted with another calm/confident dog please. My new owners need to be patient and great at building confidence in me, as I never was loved on as a pup so I am still nervous with new people and in new situations. However, I am very smart and learn quickly!! Some basic information about Mullen; he is male, Siberian Husky mix, and expected to be medium-sized (20-59lbs). Local adoption fee is $300 (in TX)
