Personality and Trust Because of his past, Hugo needs a kind, patient adopter who is willing to give him time, consistency, and reassurance as he learns to feel safe. He can be very skittish at first and may not feel comfortable around new people right away but will warm up to his people. Once trust begins to build, Hugo’s sweet and affectionate side shines through. He loves spending quiet time on the couch, cuddling close, and giving kisses to the people he trusts. Behavior and Training In social situations with people or other dogs, Hugo may growl or bark when he feels unsure, but he has not shown aggression. He may also try to run and hide, so he will need gentle support and gradual exposure to help build his confidence. Meet Jovi! Jovi is around 11 months old now. She’s a 40lb husky mix, and she has been patiently waiting for a home of her very own since she was a puppy. Jovi came into our shelter with her littermates back in April after being rescued from a terrible hoarding case. And we can hardly believe how far this girl has come. When she first arrived, she was a terrified little puppy covered in layers of waste, and now look at her. She’s happy, clean, beautiful, and full of personality. We never imagined we’d watch Jovi grow from a scared puppy into an adult right here in our kennel. But that’s exactly what’s happening. Jovi can be a little shy when she first meets you, but give her some time to warm up and you’ll get to see the real Jovi. She’s goofy, playful, silly girl who loves having fun! She’s learned SO much since coming to us, and now she’s ready for the next step: a home where she can continue growing into the happy, confident dog she was always meant to be. Earning Jovi’s trust is actually pretty simple. Give her a calm voice, spend some time with her, be patient... and bring TREATS. Lots of treats. The way to this girl’s heart is definitely through her stomach! Jovi would do best with another playful dog in her home. Hi I am Aspen! I am a Siberian husky male that is estimated to be about 9 weeks old! My foster mom says I am doing well with learning to go potty outside and learning to be quiet in my crate! But what can I say, I am a husky so occasionally you may hear me dispute! I am also very sweet, cuddly, and playful. My foster mom says she's also impressed with how well I do with all my foster siblings! I have easily picked up which of my foster siblings wants to play and which ones just want me to relax and lay with them. My foster mom does say that I should be a large dog when I'm fully grown and that I will require a home that provides me with plenty of exercise. After all, us huskies have been known to be active enough to pull sleds! I am up to date on my vaccines and will be neutered/microchipped prior to me being able to go to my forever home on October 1st!
