Story
🖤SHILOH🐾 Gentle, handsome, senior husky 🐕 After years of neglect, he’s safe in rescue & getting the care he deserves. We were told that he formally belonged to a neighbor who used to keep him on a chain and never let him in. But recently he had let him go and said he did not want him anymore. Probably because, Shiloh had a tumor growing on his underside and he did not want to be responsible. He has finished his antibiotics and steroids, and the tumor has been removed. The good news is …. It isn’t cancerous!!! And his heart and lungs, and all other x-rays were clear 🖤 True to his breed, he is vocal and full of adorable personality. He greets every human with a soft “awoooo” and lots of cuteness😍 Good with other dogs, but doesn’t need any in his forever home. He’s a bit of a loner. 🤣 In search of a yard to sunbathe in, snacks & pets from people that love him, and the opportunity to live out his golden years how he deserves 💕 If you’re interested in adopting a settled, senior boy, please consider welcoming Shiloh into your home! If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Our rescue pets are fostered in Southern foster homes (unless otherwise stated) and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Our pets are adoptable in Alabama and New England States. Our adoption fee includes transport fee, spay/neuter, current vaccinations, deworming, heart worm test for animals over 7 months old, all necessary vetting and an interstate health certificate. Once an application is received, our team is happy to answer all of your questions and send additional pictures and videos. Thank you for thinking rescue!

Story
Meet Douglas! A 1.5 year old Husky Shepherd Mix that is already with a foster up north & ready to complete your family! Douglas is a happy go lucky guy who’s never met a stranger, besides llamas. He doesn’t love them for some reason. Maybe it’s their underbite? 🤣 His ideal home is with kids, he adores them! He is the perfect mix of friendly and independent. Douglas is great at matching energy. He’s happy to snuggle on the couch, play fetch, ride in the car, but also understands if he needs to spend a little time in the kennel. He’s known to collect a few loose items and stores them in his kennel for later. 😆🐾 Douglas doesn’t complain about anything, but is happy to be a part of whatever is going on. Leash walking and recall are still a bit of a work in progress - There’s just so much to explore! Doug would love an active family, but is also happy on days that he doesn’t get in a long walk. He’s pretty much the perfect dog! 🐶 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/forms Our rescue pets are fostered in Southern foster homes (unless otherwise stated) and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Story
Looking for someone to stay up and have late-night chats? If you said yes, Ricky is the pup for you! While he doesn’t often take requests, Ricky does love singing the song of his breed. He also happily stays up chatting with his foster dad while he plays video games (his foster dad, not him, although Ricky does have commentary on how he is playing!)Ricky is currently living with four other dogs in his foster home and is gaining confidence through them. He loves playing with the dogs and has started listening to their corrections as he learns how to be a dog in the home again. For this reason, we think another confident dog in the home would be beneficial for this boy. Ricky will need continuous exercise, and is happy to run, walk and jog wherever you’d like to go. (However, we’re still working on the car, that thing is a little scary!) Ricky is house trained and crate trained but has shown to be fine left in a gated off area as well. Ricky is slow to trust but when he does, he loves his people hard. We’d love to find him a home with husky experience as he does exhibit typical husky behaviors that his foster parents are continuing to work on and he is excelling. What’re you waiting for?
