Meet Wichita!
Hi there, I'm Wichita, a 3 year old, 40 pound Pit Bull Terrier mix with a heart full of love and a spirit full of adventure. I absolutely adore going on long walks and exploring the great outdoors. You'll often find me sniffing flowers, sitting on the grass, rolling around, or even trying to climb trees to catch squirrels. I might not walk in a straight line, but that's just because I'm busy exploring the world around me with my boundless puppy energy!
I'm very playful and love making new doggy friends. I get super excited when I see other dogs and always try to play with them, even if they're a bit shy. But don't worry, I'm obedient too-I understand when it's time to back off. People are my favorite; I'm affectionate and love getting pets from strangers. And even though I'm full of energy, I'm not very vocal. I bark very rarely, usually only when I'm trying to catch a bird, and my bark is deep and impressive.
At home, I'm a bundle of joy. I sometimes get the zoomies at night and will race around the room, making everyone laugh. When I sleep, I lie on my back with my belly exposed, just like a puppy. I have a unique look with one ear down (with a cute brown patch) and one ear up. When I'm really happy or alert, both ears stand up, which makes me look even more charming. My fur is mostly white, with a couple of brown patches, one near my tail and another on my left ear, and I have some adorable spots on my skin.
I have these funny little chewing spells where I just have to chew on something-usually my toys or my bene bone, but sometimes I'll try to chew on the carpet or even a lamp wire (oops!). Looking for a forever family who will help me to know what's good to chew on and what's not!
I'm house trained and know basic commands like "sit" and "stay" (I learned "stay" in just one day because I'm super food motivated!). I chew my food thoroughly and love every meal. I crave walks and often sit by the door to let you know I'm ready to go out, whether it's to pee or just to enjoy another adventure. Sometimes, when we're playing, I get so excited that I might try to jump up to share my joy with you. But if you let me know that's not okay, I'll understand and calm down.
If you're looking for a loving, playful, and unique companion who will fill your life with joy and laughter, I'm your guy. Come meet me, and let's start our adventures together!
Wichita is currently being fostered in Jersey City, NJ. His adoption fee is $425.
To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
