Duke was owner surrendered because "they no longer had time for him". Duke is a great dog. He is good with people, kids and other dogs. This sweet, very friendly boy also rides good in a car and knows how to do a sit. We do not know what he thinks of cats. Duke is freshly groomed and ready to go home. Duke is about 2 years old and 55 pounds. Update: Duke tested Lyme+ and is taking an oral antibiotic for his treatment. He is doing awesome and any remaining pills will be sent home with him for completion. Duke is currently available for adoption! We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821). Please understand that we are an animal shelter and thus unable to say whether the dogs are housebroken as they are not in homes. Story
Aurora and her pups were dumped to survive on their out in Puerto Rico. Luckily, volunteers with Barks of Hope dog rescued them all, brought them to a vet then placed them with a loving foster home in PR where they were well cared for. Aurora and the pups were transported to NJ and placed in a foster home in Pennington. Aurora is ready for a new adventure of being loved and cared for as a member of a loving family. She is about 1-2 years old and is a playful, sweet, and gentle girl. She is very much a puppy and needs to learn basic commands. She will make a wonderful family pet! She will not need the crazy & expensive groom of a Labradoodle and she will shed somewhat. All our dogs/pups are spayed/neutered and microchipped prior to adoption. They have been dewormed and are current on vaccinations. Our adoption fee includes 30 days of complimentary medical insurance for your new pet. Breed and size is frequently a guess and can not be guaranteed. Our dogs are fostered on a private residence, we do not have a free standing shelter. They live on a farm where they run and play with other dogs, cats, horses, and barnyard fowl. Initial contact with us must be made through e-mail. Story
Oliver is a very sweet, friendly 4 year old labradoodle. My ex partner and I got him from a breeder (Labradoodles of Long Island) when we were living together in Long Island and he came home at 7 weeks. He is very very good with house training, has never bitten another dog or human, and overall has a great temperament but he is a jumper. He is the love of my life but, since my partner and I separated, he has not done well in a small apartment without outdoor space. Due to the separation I also need to go back to in person work and am just generally unable to meet his needs. He would do very well in a home with more space, kids, other dogs (maybe not cats but he isn't aggressive with them). He does have chronic gastritis / GI issues but I would be willing to contribute to any vet bills if I can keep in touch with him. Up to date on all vaccinations, recently had a full blood work panel, and dental cleaning. I have many more photos that I am not able to upload.. just ask!

Romeo is also still waiting for his happily-ever-after, and if dogs could make wish lists, his would probably be simple: a soft bed, a family to love, and someone to finally tell him, “You’re home.” While other dogs have come and gone, Romeo continues to greet each day with quiet kindness and a hopeful wag of his tail. He may be a little shy at first, but once he trusts you, he becomes the kind of loyal companion who never wants to leave your side. Romeo and his brother Ranger grew up around kids, dogs, and cats and have only ever known love from the family who raised them. Sadly, their owners could no longer afford to care for them or get them properly vetted, but despite all the changes in their lives, these boys have remained incredibly sweet and gentle. They’re lower-energy dogs who enjoy lounging around just as much as a romp in the yard. They’ve kenneled with dogs of all sizes without issue and are often used as “temperament test” dogs because they stay calm and non-reactive. Romeo is leash-trained, great in the car, neutered, fully vaccinated, about 2 years old, lab mix and he is ready for a home of his own. Romeo and Ranger have also gone on outings with volunteers and have done wonderfully meeting new people and other dogs. The shelter truly believes that once they’re in loving homes, their sweet personalities will blossom even more. All Romeo needs now is someone willing to give a longtime shelter dog the chance he’s been patiently waiting for. 🐾. Romeo or Ranger can be fostered or adopted to separate homes. This is a Courtesy Post-Please Conact Laurie frankg4@optonline.net if you have a furever home for Daisy. When Daisy looks at you with her big brown eyes, it is hard to say "no" to her! She is a happy dog with people but something of a bossypants with other dogs, so Daisy would do better as an only dog. She is about 10 years old and still spry and healthy; she loves to go outside and walks well on the leash. She is house-trained and knows "sit", "lie down", and "come" commands. Daisy is a city girl who came from Brooklyn, where her owner couldn't take care of her due to illness. She weighs 60 lbs. and is no longer interested in toys or chewing. Usually quiet at home, she will bark to alert her family to the presence of others, but enjoys meeting people. She loves our neighbor's kids and they love her. They are older elementary and middle school age….I haven't had a chance to see how she is with younger children. Daisy wants to be the only dog in her home, she likes seeing other dogs outdoors. At her foster home she has gotten used to living with a cat.She also just stares at us if she wants something. She has such cute eyes! If you want a dog to snuggle with on the couch, or to just hang out while she sleeps on her dog bed, Daisy is the dog for you.
