Meadow can act timid/shy when meeting new people, though once she knows you, she will be your best friend! Riley is a very energetic doodle. She is 6 years old but acts like a puppy in many ways. She is a lover of humans and wants everyone to pet her and introduce themselves to her no matter what. She has some behavioral issues, however. She jumps, she barks at people walking by, and she knows commands but it takes a few times to get her to listen. She would do very well with a family with a large yard or open area for her to run her heart out and get her energy out. She can be iffy around larger dogs until she gets to know them. I first got Riley from a breeder in Oregon when she was 8 weeks old. I took her to puppy classes, dog parks, and socialized her, but unfortunately she has more energy now than we will be able to handle with a baby on the way. In 2022, I paid for a 2 week board and stay and she did very well with that but needs constant reminders and continued lessons/someone who can keep working with her on her behavior. She NEEDS exercise which I cannot provide at this time.

Meet Clovis! Say hello to Clovis or sweet Bud as we like to call him. He is a sweet natured chocolate brown /powdered sugared shepherd retriever mix who is roughly 9 1/2 yrs young. We think he's practically perfect in every way. He's great with kids and looks for ways to play with them, but isn't quite aware of his size so should be watched with small kids so he doesn't bowl them over with his enthusiasm. Clovis is not the most graceful of dogs, he flops on to things including people and with some arthritis in his hips there's a wobble now and then. However this doesn't slow him down a bit, he loves to play fetch and prances when he goes for walks. He gets along with my small Chihuahua dogs even when they are being snotty. I am sure he'd love a slightly larger dog to play with. I have no idea how he is with cats, but I'd assume if properly introduced he'd be just fine. He is completely housebroken and can be left to free range the house when you are away. He does not climb on furniture unless asked to. He will talk to you, he hoots and grumbles. He's not a barker but while he has been staying with us he has gradually taken on the role of guardian and will notify me if there is anything suspicious happening outside but once I've acknowledged that he's like "Ok done my job!" and will go back and lie down. Once he bonds with his new family he will be an excellent watch dog as he is very alert and protective of his people.To set up a meet and greet or inquire about a dog, please first fill out an application at https://savinghoperescue.org/adopt.
