Story
Due to a recent divorce and a move to housing that cannot accommodate them, I am no longer able to provide the home they deserve. I am committed to helping financially by providing their supplies and records, transporting them wherever needed, and doing whatever I can to ensure they remain together.Finding the right home for Maggie and Motley is my highest priority. I am willing to personally transport them to their new home anywhere within a reasonable distance to ensure a smooth and comfortable transition. My goal is not simply to rehome them—it is to find a family who will love and care for them as they deserve. After ten years of loyalty, companionship, and unconditional love, they deserve nothing less.I understand that adopting two senior dogs is a significant commitment, and I am happy to answer questions, provide veterinary records, discuss their routines and preferences, and help make the transition as easy as possible for both the dogs and their new family.

Story
We got Zoe as a puppy from a breeder and fell in love with her. She is so smart and she knows sit, lye down, paw, go home (kennel) and outside. She’s aggressive towards other animals. My pit bull we had before her bullied her as a pup but as she grew bigger than him she got aggressive with him and we also added a cat to the mix which she would like to play with but not in a good way. Every sense I brought her back in my cat is peeing and acting out. I love Zoe and would love to keep her but my daughters cat and my other daughters dog have to stay or I’m the bad mom. Also my kids aren’t helping me with Zoe and she needs a lot of attention like walks and playing. I no longer can give her these things because I’m constantly at work. Her lab part definitely stands out because she hunts baby possums in my backyard. She has not eat them but will kill them and present to you as presents. She’s not a bad dog just needs more love than I can give. She’s great with kids, just likes to jump.

Story
Meet Bigfoot – Yes, He's Finally Been Spotted! After years of blurry photos and mysterious sightings, we can finally confirm that Bigfoot is real! And this handsome black Labradoodle isn’t hiding in the woods—he’s been found and is ready to find a family of his own.  Bigfoot is almost 4 years old and is a gentle, easygoing boy who is happiest hanging out with his people and enjoying the simple things in life. He is completely house trained with zero accidents in his foster home and is also crate trained. Since he isn’t destructive or a chewer, he does well with some freedom outside his crate, too. Bigfoot loves other dogs and has a wonderful time playing with his foster sister. He would likely enjoy having a canine companion in his forever home. He has not been tested with cats. When it’s time to get out and explore, Bigfoot is ready to go! He loves walks and does well on a leash. He can get excited when he sees another dog out for a walk, but he is easily redirected and keeps moving along. Bigfoot can be a little shy when meeting new people, so he does best with a calm, proper introduction. Give him a little time to realize you’re a friend, and you’ll get to see the sweet and affectionate boy underneath that initial shyness. Once he’s comfortable, Bigfoot is all about companionship. He is a champion couch companion who would happily curl up beside you for a nap—or sleep in bed with you if he gets the invitation! He is also a pretty quiet guy and rarely barks, although he will let you know when someone comes to the door. Bigfoot is fully vetted and is currently being treated for an ear infection. He is such a gentle soul that even when it’s time for his ear medication, he simply lies down and lets his foster take care of him. Bigfoot may have been hard to spot, but he’s impossible to miss once you get to know him. If you’re looking for a gentle, well-mannered companion who enjoys walks, other dogs, and a good couch cuddle, this handsome boy may be the one you’ve been searching for. ##2823437##

Story
Obi is a wonderful dog that we love tremendously. He is sweet with our entire family and has historically been friendly with guests. We are seeking this option post a dog bite incident. We are highly regretful of the scenario and unclear on what triggered the incident. We believe he would be ideal in a household with another dog and ability for high levels of activity. We welcome and conversations.

Story
Meet Tommy! He is a 2yr old neutered male Lab/Retriever mix that weighs 55lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Services on 3/5 as a stray. Happiness is what Tommy is all about. On his walk out to the play yard his tail wags non stop, with a big smile on his face. He loves to get his zoomies out, but then will quickly come back to his companion for plenty of kisses and petting. With plenty of toys to choose from he is not sure which one he likes the most. He will chase balls then gently return them to you to throw again. He has a very gentle loving soul, and only wants to share that affection with everyone he meets. Tommy takes treats gently, and on occasion will sit for them. He doesn’t have much interest in other dogs barking at him, yet we do ask if you have another dog in the home, please ask the shelter for a dog test. He would make a great family companion where he has a secured yard to play in, yet live indoors where he can cuddle close to his family members. Tommy is such an affection boy and hopes to find his own loving family soon!

Story
If Shamrock could talk, he would ask you if you wanted to play? He does! Shamrock is a 1 to 2 year old, 50 pound neutered, mostly black (with some white) lab retriever mix that was surrendered to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 6/4 because the family was moving. This boy is looking for his furever home! Previously he has lived with children and was an inside dog. He’s a handsome boy with a shiny black coat and a very long nose. It looks like he’s been well taken care of. He found toys in the toy box and entertained himself with them. He particularly liked rope toys. He sits for treats and takes them gently. He’s limber, energetic, joyful, friendly, alert, playful, and sociable. He loves to have his ears scratched. He walks OK on a leash and maybe housetrained. His idea of fun is to play with his new family until he’s worn out and then chill on the couch or in his own puppy bed.

Story
My name is Aspen. I am about 5 years old. I weigh 54 pounds and I am neutered. I’m told I am a Lab/Retriever mix. I was brought to this place by my owner because her health was not good and she could no longer take care of me. That makes me very sad because I was happy and well cared for in my home. I am very much hoping that somebody will come see what a very handsome boy I am with an amazing personality, if I say so myself! I am very happy-go-lucky and lively. I was taught to walk well on a leash and I know the sit command. I am a bit on the goofy side. I just really enjoy life and I’m hoping my stay at this shelter will be a short one. Don’t get me wrong, everyone here is quite nice to me. However, it’s not the same as being someone’s beloved pet and living in their home. I am very insistent that I live indoors. That’s non negotiable. I admit to occasionally jumping on people in my excitement but I am really open to changing that behavior, especially if you have some yummy treats to motivate me! Will you consider whether I could be your new best friend?
