Story
A solid senior with plenty of life leftSerena is an older Lab-type girl who still has a lot of get-up-and-go. She’s easy to handle, straightforward with people, and has that familiar “big dog, big feelings about walks” energy—meaning yes, she pulls hard on leash, but otherwise comes across as a pretty typical, people-friendly dog.Outside the kennel, Serena seems simple and manageable. Inside the kennel, she can get worked up when other dogs pass by, which is pretty common in a loud shelter setting. The bigger picture here is a senior dog who still seems active, sturdy, and ready to get out of the building. She’s also dealing with some chronic ear issues and has a few masses that should be monitored, so her future adopter should be prepared to stay on top of her care and follow up with a veterinarian. If you like older dogs and don’t mind a strong girl on leash, Serena looks like a good one to meet.We are open to the public Tuesday - Sunday (1PM - 5PM)! No Appointments required!

Story
A shy guy who comes alive with a friendStefan is a quieter dog who may need a little time and encouragement to show you who he really is. On his own, he can come across as unsure and easily spooked by new things, especially during everyday transitions like walking through doors. He’s not aggressive—just lacking confidence. What’s interesting about Stefan is how much he changes when he feels comfortable. When reunited with a dog he knew, he became playful, confident, and much more relaxed. That tells us there’s a fun, social dog in there once he feels safe enough to let it out. He appears to enjoy other dogs and may benefit from a calm canine friend to help him settle into home life.Stefan will likely do best with a patient adopter who won’t expect him to be bold on day one. A quieter home, steady routine, and gentle handling would probably suit him well. If you like the kind of dog who takes a minute but is worth getting to know, come meet Stefan. We are open to the public Tuesday - Sunday (1PM - 5PM)! No Appointments required!

Story
A big, sweet senior with classic lab energyVenus is the kind of dog a lot of people are looking for: friendly, straightforward, and easy to like. She’s a large senior girl with that classic older Lab feel—sweet, steady, and happy to be out with people. She’s been described as a very sweet, typical older lab, with no obvious behavior concerns. Venus does pull hard on leash, but she takes redirection well and doesn’t seem difficult about it. She’s the kind of dog who feels manageable and familiar, especially for someone who already loves big older dogs.At 10 years old, Venus still seems to have plenty of life left in her. She also qualifies for Doggy Day Out, which could be a great way to get to know her outside the shelter. If you want a big, kind dog without a lot of drama, Venus is worth a look.We are open to the public Tuesday - Sunday (1PM - 5PM)! No Appointments required!
