Story
Layla is a special dog who is very sensitive to sound. She is 3 years old which such a loving and sweet personality. Never bit anyone. Great with my toddler. It’s just too much stress being a single dog mom to a toddler and a young dog. She deserves a home where someone can give her the attention she needs. Very amazing dog.

Story
Meet Kurt! Kurt is a ball of energy. I have had Kurt since November of 2024 and have tried my best, but this ball of energy just needs a yard. He loves to run around and his FAVORITE thing to do is fetch! He can fetch for hours. I have found a perfect brand of food for his tummy (and it’s not that expensive!!). Kurtsy is a very loving boy who wants all the attention, but I just am unable to give that to him despite efforts of trying. He can go for hours! He is potty trained and perfectly crate trained. Does very very well in his crate! Would love to give this boy a beautiful shot at life with a perfect family.

Story
Star is a two-year-old, 30-pound lab mix that was picked up by the shelter. While she was seemingly in good shape with a shiny coat and good weight, her eyes were severely damaged, and she was terrified not to be able to see the barking dogs around her or know that she was safe from them. She stayed curled in a ball pressed against the chain link the whole time she was there. She dared not move from that spot because she didn't know what was around her. Once we got her to the vet, she did the same thing, curling up in a corner and not moving even to eat or go to the bathroom. Fortunately, We found a foster and got her into a quiet home. Unfortunately, as soon as she relaxed and trusted, it was time for her to go to the vet to be spayed. An exam of her eyes proved that she was blind, and her eyes were likely causing her great pain, so they were both removed. She is not comfortable with her blindness, and we are not sure what happened, but it is evident that she has not lived her life this way. Although scared, there is no aggression toward people or other dogs, and we think that another friendly dog to mentor her would be great. She spends her days on her bed, her safe space, and only moves to eat or potty, which she dutifully does on the "pee pads" in her room. Star has a challenging road ahead of her, but she is coming along well, and with some patience and time, she has so much potential to have a whole and happy life. If you want to nurture this girl along this new road, ALR will stand beside you and give you all the support needed.  If you want to adopt or foster to adopt Star, please click the "Adopt" button and submit an Adoption application. FROM THE FOSTER: Star has made good progress in her foster home adjusting to her new life of blindness.  She has the run of the house and easily navigates the 8 stairs off the back deck to go out to potty.  She gets along well with my two 10 yr old male large dogs.  Even though my Shepherd kept showing her the play bow and bringing her toys ( of course she couldn’t see) she has never shown any desire to play.  She is not intimidated by them and none of them have shown any aggression.  She also allows affection on her terms when she wants it but immediately comes running when she hears “treats” or the sound of a plastic bag being opened. Star takes treats softly and occasionally will lay beside you and allow petting.  She is not an overly affection or a cuddly dog. Star is crate trained but at night I gate her in the bedroom where all 3 sleep on their beds separately. (No accidents)  She did share her bed with her smaller dog friend, Sally who passed in June.  I think  having Sally gave her confidence in the beginning.  She can walk on leash but is very anxious about any new adventure. ##805877##

Story
Abel is a four-year-old, 55-pound lab mix that was hit by a car and picked up by a shelter the night before Christmas Eve. The shelter took him to the emergency room, but the injuries were too extensive for the shelter’s budget, so they came back to get him to take him back to euthanize him. They called us to see if we could help in a last-ditch effort. It was two days before Christmas and everyone was tucked in for the holidays, but we had to help. We told them that if the ER could take him and the shelter could get him back there, we would take him. When we called the ER to set it up, they were so excited that he was coming back and would get a chance to live. After a couple of weeks and two surgeries, we found a foster for him and he has recuperated, healed and is ready to find a forever home. The fosters have other dogs and a young child, and he has been wonderful with both, plus he is great in the house and loves to chase the ball. Abel is ready for anything and will fit in anywhere. If you would like to foster or adopt him, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com and apply. ##2316307##

Story
Wes is an eight-year-old, 68-pound lab mix adopted several years ago along with his brother. Sibling rivalry is always a concern, but they did well for many years, even welcoming two other dogs and a cat. However, in the past couple of years, the owners have both had serious health issues that have changed the dynamics of the pack. The two brothers seem to be sparring to fill the top dog spot, and they have decided that Wes would be the easiest to rehome. Wes is great in the house, but also loves his crate. He is very calm and easy, and a big cuddler. He’ll thrive in a home where he doesn’t have to compete with his brother. If you would like to foster or adopt Wes, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com and apply. ##1786275##

Story
Hi, I’m Serenity! I’m a sweet, affectionate pup with a great balance of playful energy and laid-back chill. I love spending time with my humans—if you’re looking for a Velcro dog who wants to stay by your side, I’m your girl.I’m a big fan of snuggles, kisses, squeaky toys, tennis balls, and treats—especially baby carrots and bananas! I also adore being pampered and will happily soak up all the cuddles you’ll give me. When I get excited, I’ll zoom down the hallway and my little pitter-patter steps are sure to make you smile. Oh, and I have one floppy ear that everyone says is ridiculously cute.I’ve lived with another laid-back dog and we got along great once we were slowly and properly introduced. I do best with slow introductions to other dogs, especially larger ones, but once I feel safe, I settle in just fine. I’ve also seen cats through baby gates and at the shelter—and I didn’t pay them much mind.I love meeting new people and I’m especially good with kids under 10. On walks, I’m all business—calm, focused, and ready to handle my potty time like a pro. I enjoy leisurely strolls, not big adventures, and I’m happiest with a family who enjoys a mellow pace.My only complaint? Not being allowed in the kitchen! I think that’s where all the magic (and snacks) happen. If you’re looking for a cuddly, loyal companion who’ll stick by your side and fill your days with love and floppy-eared cuteness, I might be the perfect match for you.P.S. I qualify for the Foster First program where you can see if I will be a good fit for your home during a 14-day trial!
