Story
Skye is a young 1 year old beagle/lab mix full of fun energry and loves to play.  She is full grown at about 40 lbs. Crate trained and house trained, walks ok on leash. Skye came to us Spring 2023 as an undersocialized older puppy with a few bad manners. We have been working on social skills and building confidence, Learning basic commands and curving the bad habits such as jumping up on people. She is great with people that she knows and trusts but still weary of strangers: prefers females to males. She would do best with someone willing to take time to work with her, take her to training and build on her confidence and skills. adoption fee is $300 Skye is spayed, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped and tested negative for heartworms. Story
A FUN & HAPPY-NATURED GIRL:  Approx. 1 year old / Approx. 54 lbs.  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and I’m in a great foster home, learning, and having fun! I’m looking for a family with a stay/work from home family member as I do need to be taken out to the potty more than some other dogs due to a congenital kidney defect which is easily managed!  I’m a typical happy young dog and don’t know that there’s anything wrong with me at all, so I want to be treated like a normal fun dog!  I’ll likely have a little shorter lifespan than some other dogs, but I’m living life to the fullest!  Maybe we can do that together?  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I just love playing with and palling around with the dogs in my foster home, but I have been known to hoard all the toys and time with my people so, if you have a laid-back dog already that would enjoy a friend and not mind my coveting all the toys and people, let’s meet! / I’m a bit too curious about the cat in my foster home so my foster thinks I’d do best in a home without a cat.  / I haven’t been around young kids, so if you have kids, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over with my enthusiasm. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  My foster reports that I’m a great pup who will make a wonderful companion. I’m lovable, huggable, and sweet!  When I first went to my foster home, I would chew blankets and an occasional shoe, sock or oven mitt, but I mostly know what is mine now, so please make sure I have lots of hard toys and Nylabones. I am a little mouthy during play or when people try to pet my belly.  Please tell me to ‘leave it’ and avoid the belly . . . I like all the other pets.  Pretty much a Velcro dog, I like to be the pup to get the most attention and although not aggressive toward the other dogs, I will wiggle my way in between them and my people.  I’m an “in your face” type of loving girl, even staring during our conversations.  I love to explore my foster’s fenced back yard, happy to play with the other dogs or on my own – my foster says I’m a “treasure hunter” so maybe we can even make a game out of that.  I’m a pretty quiet girl, but have a deep alert bark if I hear unknown noises or people.  Playful, very active, silly and fun – I am sure to bring lots of love to my new family! / My energy level is approximately 7 - 8, so let’s make time for lots of play sessions or running or hikes. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I know the ‘sit’ and ‘down’ commands and will give a nice ‘shake’ and know the ‘go to your crate’ command.  I walk great on my leash and although alert during my walks, I don’t bark at or pull toward dogs. / I sleep in my crate at night and go in willingly. I do like a treat reward when I go in it, please. / I am taken out every 2 ½ hours or so during the day and my water is managed/limited to what works best for my kidneys and potty manners.  My foster will be happy to talk to you about this.  I have been going to the door to signal that I need to go potty and I’m doing great.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love spending time with people getting attention, playing, being gently hugged and rubbed. Balls and toys are great fun for fetching – though it is more like a game of ‘keep away’ or catch with my paws right now – lol.  I get really excited when I hear the ice machine . . . frozen treats!  I got to splash around in a lake recently and enjoyed that!  I also ride well in the car – let’s go on lots of adventures! / I don’t like the loud vacuum (what is THAT thing all about?), unexpected noises that make me a bit jumpy at times and the silly mop I try to bite.  I am good for my bath, but can’t wait for it to be over.  I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on my immunizations, micro-chipped and spayed. I eat Science Diet k/d dog food to help with my kidneys and have just had bloodwork done which shows that it’s really working!  The vet was so happy with the great results and so am I!   If you’re a stay/work from home family and want a great dog to be active with, then let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.    March 27, 2024, 9:48 am

Story
A LOVING GIRL LOOKING FOR HER MATCH:  Approx. 3 years old  / Approx. 53 lbs. Hi, my name is Islay (eye-la)!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control after seemingly being on my own for a good bit before that.  I am so happy to be safe and in a Mostly Mutts foster home. I’ve been spending time in between two wonderful foster homes, where I am learning what it means to be loved. I am now ready to meet my furever family! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I’m best buds with the little terrier in my foster home and he only weighs 10 lbs! When we are outside, we do zoomies in the back yard and spend time hanging out! There are two older dogs who will play with me from time to time, until they are worn out and need a nap. If you have a dog or dogs, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids while with Mostly Mutts, but I can be exuberant and active at times so older children would be best – no toddlers or small children that I might bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m super sweet, loving and enjoy being with my people and dog friends. Wherever they go, I follow! I enjoy being active and would be happiest with an active family that has the time to meet my energy level and support my quest to be a great housemate. I am mostly Labrador, and like many Labs, when I am left alone, I love to sink my teeth into and shred things that don’t belong to me! I have lots of chew toys and they keep me very busy. My current foster Mom crates me when she goes to the store. When she works in the yard or the basement, I will quietly sit and watch guard. / My energy level is 6-8. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a smart girl who is very receptive to training and wants a family that enjoys training their dog. I have been attending Mostly Mutts training classes with my foster Mom. I know the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’ and ‘down’ commands! I will respond well to “off” if I put my paws on counters or climb on the furniture when not invited. / I’ve had good crate manners in my current foster home, going in willingly to sleep there at night. I usually put myself to bed before my foster Mom turns in for the night. / I have good potty habits in both of my foster homes.  A little whimper is my signal I need to go – and I take care of business quickly once I am outside.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  In my foster homes, I’ve been treated to nice walks or hikes, and I think I would be a GREAT hiking (or running) partner for a family member who loves the outdoors.  It’s a wonderful way to be sure I get the important exercise I need, and we get to spend time together (which is my favorite thing), so – it’s a win-win!  I also enjoy wading in a creek, chasing balls in the yard, chew bones, carrots and Pup-Peroni treats (which I take politely).  Hanging out with my people for belly rubs, brushings and being loved on is my most favorite thing of all.  / I don’t like strangers coming right up to me wanting to say hello. I will decide if I want to meet and go up to them. When I am out and about, I wear my jacket that says “Nervous Rescue – I Need Space.” I don’t like to spend too much time away from my people. Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I was very frightened for my vetting, so the vet recommends that I’m premedicated to help with that anxiety, likely muzzled as well. I did get a little snappy when at the vet, but they could tell it was only out of fear, not aggression. In my foster home, I’m just fine with being touched all over, restrained, etc. I am looking for an experienced owner who is committed to training and will guide me as I overcome my anxiety issue and be the best companion I can be.  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  March 27, 2024, 9:48 am

Story
A FRIENDLY & VERY ACTIVE GIRL:  Approx.  1 year old / Approx. 45 lbs.  Hi, my name is Melody!  I was rescued from animal control, and I sure am glad to be here!  I came in with some fur loss and itchy sore skin but with lots of good care and good nutrition, my fur is growing back nicely and I’m looking so pretty!  I’m currently in the prison/foster training program off site learning a lot as I don’t think I previously received training or proper stimuli!  I’ll have new pictures taken to show off my pretty coat when I return.  Please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I'm available to meet.  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I recently met dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I tend to be dominant when first meeting them, but then I mellow out a bit.  If you have a dog at home who would like a playmate, let’s meet and see if we can be pals! / Cats unknown. / I enjoyed meeting children recently at Mostly Mutts, but I should live with older kids (age 15+) in my new home, as I am jumpy and strong.  Let’s meet!  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m described as a ‘tail-wagging girl’ – happy, energetic, goofy, exuberant, and sweet.  I’ve been very playful and active, looking to have fun, so I need a family dedicated to spending time training and being active with me for me to be my best adult doggie self. / My energy level is 10, so I need a family committed to exercising and being active with me a lot!  • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program off site, where I am learning lots of great doggie commands with my trainer.  I expect to be a graduate very soon! So far, I have mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’, ‘drop it’ and ‘place’ commands, as well as use proper door etiquette.  I am polishing up my leash skills using my gentle leader. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / My potty habits are coming along nicely, as I’ve adjusted well to the training program schedule. Hopefully, with a good, consistent schedule, I’ll be able to continue this in your home.    • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I LOVE to play with toys, and I am quite exuberant with my puppy antics – occasionally letting out little growly vocalizations to let you know how excited I am! I especially love tennis balls, so a fenced yard where we can have great fetching games would be wonderful in my new home. I am also very treat-motivated, yum.  I love people so much that I need to be in a ‘sit’ when I meet them.  / I can’t think of any dislikes right now, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.    I am looking for a loving family dedicated to my training and to giving me a great furever home!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  March 27, 2024, 9:48 am

Story
AN ALL-ACTION PUPPY:  Approx. 3 – 4 months old / Approx. 14 lbs. and growing Hello – I’m Katerra!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control along with my sibling.  I’m in a wonderful foster home, where I’m taking in all the love and attention that comes my way.  Now, it’s time to find a family that needs some wonderful puppy love.  I am up to the task!   • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I came to Mostly Mutts with my sister, and we got along fine at first, but as we grew, our play started turning too rough as siblings sometimes do, so she’s in a different foster home now.  There is another dog in my foster home that I get along fine with (though I am still learning their cues for when it is time to stop playing).  So, if you have a nice doggie that would like a very playful puppy friend, let’s meet and see if we can be pals! / I haven’t met kitties yet, but I’m very young so I’d likely do well with them if they like puppies. / I met a nice boy and a girl around 10 years old at Mostly Mutts and did well with them, so a home with kids that understand I am still a lot of puppy could be a good fit for me and best no toddlers that may fall on me or that I may bump over.            • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a fun and playful puppy!  I’m also quite curious about my world and will investigate everything with my mouth as puppies do.  I’m getting more gentle about nibbling on fingers as my foster’s been working with me on that. I have lots of puppy energy and rarely have time for cuddles – I’m just so busy!  I do want my people nearby though and will register my displeasure for a bit if they are out of sight.  / My energy level is 6-8 in my foster home, so I’ll want a family that will be active with me. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog – including starting to train me not to chew on you and the kids so we’ll all be happy - so get ready for some training with your new best friend. / In my foster home, I sleep through the night in a crate without issues or accidents, so yay me!  I also spend time there, next to my foster while she works from home, and I don’t mind it.  She gives me a puppy nylabone which is nice to chew on. / My potty habits have improved a lot in my foster home as I have now learned our routine.  I am good about giving you a signal by going to the door when I need to go out.  I’m still a young puppy, so I will need you to reinforce my good habits and keep me on a consistent schedule so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  A typical happy, full-of-joy puppy, I love toys, especially crinkly toys, balls, and teething nylabones.  Napping and playing fills my days in my foster home – then I often retreat to my crate for a recharge. / I don’t enjoy much alone time, so I’d love a family that is home a good bit.  I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I've started my puppy shots, but you will have to finish these for me as I grow.  I’m also micro-chipped and spayed. If you’re ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, then let’s meet!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.    March 27, 2024, 9:48 am

A FUN & ENERGETIC PUP:  Approx. 7 months old / Approx. 30 lbs. and growing Hi, my name is Lindsey!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and I’m so happy to be on my way to living the good life with a wonderful family. I’m ready for them to come meet me – perhaps that is YOU!  I’m currently in the prison/foster training program off site and learning a lot!  Please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I'm available to meet. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I recently met dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I had a mouthy style of play, though I enjoyed my time with them. If you have a doggie at home already who wouldn’t mind a playmate like this, let’s meet!  / Cats unknown. / I met nice kids at Mostly Mutts and liked them, however I’m in the mouthy puppy stage with an abundance of exuberant puppy energy so I was mouthy and playfully pulled at their clothes. My trainer has been working with me on this, so I have improved a lot with a firm ‘leave it’.  A home with kids ages 10 and up that understand I am still a learning puppy could be a good match for me.  Let’s meet!  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a fun-natured, friendly puppy with a love for adventure with my people.  A sweet and very playful pup, I am looking for a family member to match my energy level.  Everything is a reason for a good play session.  I even made a ‘game’ out of drinking from the sprayer during my shelter bath – silly me! I’m also learning that lying and relaxing with my people after a day of playing can be fun, too!  / My energy level is 6-8, so let’s have lots of adventures together! • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I am learning lots of great doggie commands with my trainer.  I know the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, and ‘drop it’ commands and am getting familiar with ‘leave it’.  My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / Still a puppy, I was having several accidents on the shelter schedule, but I’ve been doing great on the prison/foster training program schedule. I do still let out the occasionally ‘excited to see you’ tinkle!  Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  Tennis balls are great!  I love chasing them, so throw one my way. I love the time I spend with the volunteers who care for me.  They say I will be a great walking or hiking buddy! / I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. Story
A SWEET & SLIGHTLY TIMED FRIEND:  Approx. 1 year old / Approx. 42 lbs.     Hi, my name is Aimee!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control.  I was a bit unsure when I first came to the shelter with other dogs barking, but the volunteers took their time with me, and – once out of my room, my personality started to shine through brightly.  Now I’m ready to find a family of my very own! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met dogs recently at Mostly Mutts and showed fearful, nervous behavior when they came near me.  I will be retested again in the future as I get more confident in my skin, but I may need to be your only dog.  The barking dogs at the shelter make me uncomfortable.  In addition to the shelter dogs, I was fearful of dogs I saw during a sleepover in a home recently – even those smaller than me.  It is possible that I would get along with a mellow, quiet dog. If you have a dog like this at home, let’s meet with my trainer! / I was interested in the kitty I saw from across the room while on my sleepover, but not in an aggressive way. I performed a well-known doggie/kitty duet: she growled and hissed while I quietly ‘sang’ and wagged my tail.  If you have a dog-friendly (or dog-tolerant) kitty, let’s meet and see if we can be pals. / I really enjoyed the company (and belly rubs) of the teenage kids who were at my sleepover. We played and snuggled and I loved it!  I also met kids at Mostly Mutts and was shyer and more timid with them, so environment may have a bit to do with that.  I think calm kids 10 and older will be best and let’s meet! • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  Though scared upon first meeting the volunteers, I warmed up when they went slow with me.  Once I was out and about, I relaxed more, and my true nature began to emerge.  At my sleepover, I was super sweet, very playful, attentive, happy, and active with the mom and teens. I seemed fearful of the husband, so if there’s a man in my new family, please love me and know that you may have to win me over. The volunteers have noticed how smart and curious I am, so I bet I will impress you, too.  My energy level is 5-7.    • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I will be  learning lots of great doggie commands with my trainer.  I’m working on being comfortable on my leash, so please keep a good hold of it, and I already know the ‘sit’ command. Check back soon to see what else I have learned! / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts, as well as in the home where I had my sleepover. / I've been having just a few accidents on the shelter schedule and just 1 during my spend the night.  Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can learn the routine and master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  At my spend the night I enjoyed deck time with the family and playing with stuffed animals.  Their fenced yard was great fun for running zoomies at top speed and exploring for sticks, etc.  I would enjoy a fenced yard in my new home to play with you in.  When it is time to chill, I love to collect all snuggles. / Loud noises and passing cars startle me, so perhaps we can find a quieter place to walk than the busy sidewalk next to traffic around the shelter.  Also – not really a ‘dislike’, but I seem wary of men and prefer the company of women at the shelter and in my spend the night.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I am looking for a wonderful home with a loving family!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  March 27, 2024, 9:48 am
