Meet Newton, a handsome 2-year-old male weighing 50 lbs. He arrived at the shelter on 3/2/24 after being found as a lost boy with no one to reclaim him. Newton is a very nice boy with a curious nature; he loves sniffing around and exploring his surroundings. He's remarkably attentive and obedient, sitting patiently for treats and taking them gently from your hand. Newton is currently residing at RUN #79 and will be neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested before adoption. He's up to date on his vaccines and is eagerly awaiting a loving forever home where he can share his loyalty and affection. His ID is 654025. Story
Please say hello to the handsome hunk named Baby Boi! Baby Boi arrived at the shelter through no fault of his own on 4/2 because he was found on the side of road all alone and instead of his owner being a responsible pet parent, his owner signed him over. Baby Boi is very sweet and cute as a button. He is slowly adjusting to his new surroundings despite being placed in a loud, overcrowded shelter. He is adorable! At such a young age, this sweet baby has a fractured elbow and will need surgery so he can go on and live his best life. Baby Boi may have never been leash trained with his previous owner but he seems to be getting the hang of it with the help of some dedicated volunteers at the shelter. He is hoping to find a loving person soon that will continue to take care of him and actually take the time to TRAIN HIM properly to keep him safe in his home and be patient with him. He needs someone that will be there for him in his life EVERYDAY!! He is super intelligent as he knows how to sit pretty well and lay down. Baby Boi is current on vaccines, will be neutered and micro-chipped upon his adoption. Baby Boi will be tested for heart worms also upon his adoption. Baby Boi is a nice size at 75 pounds and he is just 9 months old. He is still just a baby who needs someone in his corner to help him navigate through this crazy world. Can you please help him? He is more than ready to meet his new family. You will find Baby Boi patiently waiting for you in Run 412. Baby Boi's ID# is 655624. ***Meet Arial: Your Loyal Companion Awaits!*** Hello, compassionate souls! My name is Arial, and I'm here to share my story in hopes of finding a loving family to call my own. Imagine a beautiful Lab mix with a sleek black coat, 9 years young and weighing in at a gentle 28 pounds. Despite life's twists and turns, I'm ready to embrace a new beginning filled with love and companionship. Lost and brought to the shelter on 04/06/2024, my journey has been one of resilience and hope. But through it all, I've remained as sweet as can be, eager to shower you with love and affection. Food motivated and quick to learn, I'll sit patiently for treats and wag my tail in anticipation of your love. Sadly, my past holds a painful reminder – I was found lost with a collar that had become embedded under my leg. But with your tender care, I'm ready to leave those memories behind and create new ones filled with joy and happiness. There's something I need to share with you: I've tested positive for heartworms, so I'll require special care and attention as I undergo treatment. But with your love and support, I know I'll make a full recovery and become the loyal companion you've been searching for. Though I cannot be spayed at the shelter due to my age, I'm still full of love and life, ready to embark on a new adventure by your side. And rest assured, all my shots are up to date, so we can focus on building a bond that lasts a lifetime. Come meet me at Cage 403, where I'll be waiting with open arms and a heart full of hope. My ID is 655747, but you can call me Arial. Let's create a beautiful new chapter together – one filled with love, laughter, and endless tail wags. Adopt me, and let's start our journey to a brighter tomorrow, hand in paw. With love and anticipation, Arial Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers. Story
A FUN & HAPPY-NATURED GIRL:  Approx. 1 year old / Approx. 54 lbs.  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and I’m in a great foster home, learning, and having fun! I’m looking for a family with a stay/work from home family member as I do need to be taken out to the potty more than some other dogs due to a congenital kidney defect which is easily managed!  I’m a typical happy young dog and don’t know that there’s anything wrong with me at all, so I want to be treated like a normal fun dog!  I’ll likely have a little shorter lifespan than some other dogs, but I’m living life to the fullest!  Maybe we can do that together?  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I just love playing with and palling around with the dogs in my foster home, but I have been known to hoard all the toys and time with my people so, if you have a laid-back dog already that would enjoy a friend and not mind my coveting all the toys and people, let’s meet! / I’m a bit too curious about the cat in my foster home so my foster thinks I’d do best in a home without a cat.  / I haven’t been around young kids, so if you have kids, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over with my enthusiasm. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  My foster reports that I’m a great pup who will make a wonderful companion. I’m lovable, huggable, and sweet!  When I first went to my foster home, I would chew blankets and an occasional shoe, sock or oven mitt, but I mostly know what is mine now, so please make sure I have lots of hard toys and Nylabones. I am a little mouthy during play or when people try to pet my belly.  Please tell me to ‘leave it’ and avoid the belly . . . I like all the other pets.  Pretty much a Velcro dog, I like to be the pup to get the most attention and although not aggressive toward the other dogs, I will wiggle my way in between them and my people.  I’m an “in your face” type of loving girl, even staring during our conversations.  I love to explore my foster’s fenced back yard, happy to play with the other dogs or on my own – my foster says I’m a “treasure hunter” so maybe we can even make a game out of that.  I’m a pretty quiet girl, but have a deep alert bark if I hear unknown noises or people.  Playful, very active, silly and fun – I am sure to bring lots of love to my new family! / My energy level is approximately 7 - 8, so let’s make time for lots of play sessions or running or hikes. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I know the ‘sit’ and ‘down’ commands and will give a nice ‘shake’ and know the ‘go to your crate’ command.  I walk great on my leash and although alert during my walks, I don’t bark at or pull toward dogs. / I sleep in my crate at night and go in willingly. I do like a treat reward when I go in it, please. / I am taken out every 2 ½ hours or so during the day and my water is managed/limited to what works best for my kidneys and potty manners.  My foster will be happy to talk to you about this.  I have been going to the door to signal that I need to go potty and I’m doing great.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love spending time with people getting attention, playing, being gently hugged and rubbed. Balls and toys are great fun for fetching – though it is more like a game of ‘keep away’ or catch with my paws right now – lol.  I get really excited when I hear the ice machine . . . frozen treats!  I got to splash around in a lake recently and enjoyed that!  I also ride well in the car – let’s go on lots of adventures! / I don’t like the loud vacuum (what is THAT thing all about?), unexpected noises that make me a bit jumpy at times and the silly mop I try to bite.  I am good for my bath, but can’t wait for it to be over.  I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on my immunizations, micro-chipped and spayed. I eat Science Diet k/d dog food to help with my kidneys and have just had bloodwork done which shows that it’s really working!  The vet was so happy with the great results and so am I!   If you’re a stay/work from home family and want a great dog to be active with, then let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.    April 24, 2024, 8:29 am

Story
A LOVING GIRL LOOKING FOR MY MATCH:  Approx. 3 years old / Approx. 50 lbs. Hi, my name is Islay (eye-la)!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control after seemingly being on my own for a good bit before that. I am so happy to be safe and in a Mostly Mutts foster home. I’ve been spending time in between two wonderful foster homes, where I am learning what it means to be loved. I am now ready to meet my furever family! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I’m best buds with the little terrier in my foster home and he only weighs 10 lbs! When we are outside, we do zoomies in the back yard and spend time hanging out! There are two older dogs who will play with me from time to time, until they are worn out and need a nap. I think I would really enjoy having a fur sibling in my new home, so if you have a friendly doggie, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids while with Mostly Mutts, but I can be exuberant and active at times so older children would be best – no toddlers or small children that I might bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m super sweet, loving and enjoy being with my people and dog friends. Wherever they go, I follow! I enjoy being active and would be happiest with an active family that has the time to meet my energy level and support my quest to be a great housemate. I am mostly Labrador, and like many Labs, when I am left alone, I might sink my teeth into things that don’t belong to me! I have lots of chew toys and they keep me very busy. My current foster Mom crates me when she goes to the store. When she works in the yard, I love to run around and ‘help’ her!  I can’t wait to learn our new routine together and see what I can ‘help’ you with!  / My energy level is 6-8. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a smart girl who is very receptive to training and wants a family that enjoys training their dog. I have been attending Mostly Mutts training classes with my foster Mom. I know the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’ and ‘down’ commands as well as walk nicely on a leash!  I am a polite gal, asking your permission before jumping onto any furniture.  However, I also respond well to “off” if I put my paws on counters or climb on the furniture when not invited. / I’ve had good crate manners in my current foster home, going in willingly to sleep there at night. I usually put myself to bed before my foster Mom turns in for the night.  During the night, I enjoy relocating to the dog bed in my foster mom’s bedroom – this way we can be together as soon as she wakes up!  / I have very good potty habits in both of my foster homes.  A little whimper is my signal I need to go – and I take care of business quickly once I am outside.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  In my foster homes, I’ve been treated to nice walks or hikes, and I think I would be a GREAT hiking (or running) partner for a family member who loves the outdoors.  It’s a wonderful way to be sure I get the important exercise I need, and we get to spend time together (which is my favorite thing), so – it’s a win-win!  I also enjoy wading in a creek, chasing balls in the yard - so a fenced yard would be wonderful, chew bones, carrots and Pup-Peroni treats (which I take politely).  Hanging out with my people for belly rubs, brushings and being loved on is my most favorite thing of all. / I don’t like strangers coming right up to me wanting to say hello. I prefer to observe before deciding if I want to go up to meet them. When I am out and about, I wear my jacket that says “Nervous Rescue – I Need Space.” I don’t like to spend too much time away from my people. Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. In my foster homes, I’m just fine with being touched all over, restrained, having my nails trimmed, etc. However, I was very frightened for my vet appointment, so the vet recommends that I’m premedicated to help with that anxiety, likely muzzled too as I did get a little snappy when at the vet, but they could tell it was only out of fear, not aggression. I think if I got used to seeing one vet, I could build up my confidence with them and maybe vet visits wouldn’t be so frightening for me. I am looking for an experienced owner who is committed to training and will guide me as I overcome my anxiety and be the best companion I can be.  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.    April 24, 2024, 8:29 am

Story
A FRIENDLY & VERY ACTIVE GIRL:  Approx.  1 year old / Approx. 52 lbs.  Hi, my name is Melody!  I was rescued from animal control, and I sure am glad to be here!  I came in with some fur loss and itchy sore skin but with lots of good care and good nutrition, my fur is growing back nicely and I’m looking so pretty!  I’m currently in the prison/foster training program off site learning a lot as I don’t think I previously received training or proper stimuli!  I’ll have new pictures taken to show off my pretty coat when I return.  Please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I'm available to meet.  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I recently met dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I liked them.  If you have a dog at home who would like a playmate, let’s meet and see if we can be pals! / Cats unknown. / I enjoyed meeting children recently at Mostly Mutts, but I should live with older kids (age 15+) in my new home, as I am jumpy and strong.  Let’s meet!  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m described as a ‘tail-wagging girl’ – happy, energetic, goofy, exuberant, and sweet.  I’ve been very playful and active, looking to have fun, so I need a family dedicated to spending time training and being active with me for me to be my best adult doggie self. / My energy level is 10, so I need a family with a strong leader who is committed to my exercise routine and continued training. Get ready to be active with your new best friend! • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners using my gentle leader as well as accept nice strangers without jumping.  / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / My potty habits are coming along nicely, as I’ve adjusted well to the training program schedule. Hopefully, with a good, consistent schedule, I’ll be able to continue this in your home.    • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I LOVE to play with toys, and I am quite exuberant with my puppy antics – occasionally letting out little growly vocalizations to let you know how excited I am!  I especially love tennis balls, so a fenced yard where we can have great fetching games would be wonderful in my new home.  I am also very treat-motivated, yum.  I love people so much that I need to be in a ‘sit’ when I meet them.  / I can’t think of any dislikes right now, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.  I am looking for a loving family dedicated to my training and to giving me a great furever home!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  April 24, 2024, 8:29 am

Story
AN ALL-ACTION PUPPY:  Approx. 3 – 4 months old / Approx. 14 lbs. and growing Hello – I’m Katerra!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control along with my sibling.  I’m in a wonderful foster home, where I’m taking in all the love and attention that comes my way.  Now, it’s time to find a family that needs some wonderful puppy love.  I am up to the task!   • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I came to Mostly Mutts with my sister, and we got along fine at first, but as we grew, our play started turning too rough as siblings sometimes do, so she’s in a different foster home now.  There is another dog in my foster home that I get along fine with (though I am still learning their cues for when it is time to stop playing).  So, if you have a nice doggie that would like a very playful puppy friend, let’s meet and see if we can be pals! / I haven’t met kitties yet, but I’m very young so I’d likely do well with them if they like puppies. / I met a nice boy and a girl around 10 years old at Mostly Mutts and did well with them, so a home with kids that understand I am still a lot of puppy could be a good fit for me and best no toddlers that may fall on me or that I may bump over.            • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a fun and playful puppy!  I’m also quite curious about my world and will investigate everything with my mouth as puppies do.  I’m getting more gentle about nibbling on fingers as my foster’s been working with me on that. I have lots of puppy energy and rarely have time for cuddles – I’m just so busy!  I do want my people nearby though and will register my displeasure for a bit if they are out of sight.  / My energy level is 6-8 in my foster home, so I’ll want a family that will be active with me. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog – including starting to train me not to chew on you and the kids so we’ll all be happy - so get ready for some training with your new best friend. / In my foster home, I sleep through the night in a crate without issues or accidents, so yay me!  I also spend time there, next to my foster while she works from home, and I don’t mind it.  She gives me a puppy nylabone which is nice to chew on. / My potty habits have improved a lot in my foster home as I have now learned our routine.  I am good about giving you a signal by going to the door when I need to go out.  I’m still a young puppy, so I will need you to reinforce my good habits and keep me on a consistent schedule so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  A typical happy, full-of-joy puppy, I love toys, especially crinkly toys, balls, and teething nylabones.  Napping and playing fills my days in my foster home – then I often retreat to my crate for a recharge. / I don’t enjoy much alone time, so I’d love a family that is home a good bit.  I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I've started my puppy shots, but you will have to finish these for me as I grow.  I’m also micro-chipped and spayed. If you’re ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, then let’s meet!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.    April 24, 2024, 8:29 am

A FUN & ENERGETIC PUP:  Approx. 7 months old / Approx. 30 lbs. and growing Hi, my name is Lindsey!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and I’m so happy to be on my way to living the good life with a wonderful family. I’m ready for them to come meet me – perhaps that is YOU!  I’m currently in the prison/foster training program off site and learning a lot!  Please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I'm available to meet. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I recently met dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I had a mouthy style of play, though I enjoyed my time with them. If you have a doggie at home already who wouldn’t mind a playmate like this, let’s meet!  / Cats unknown. / I met nice kids at Mostly Mutts and liked them, however I’m in the mouthy puppy stage with an abundance of exuberant puppy energy so I was mouthy and playfully pulled at their clothes. My trainer has been working with me on this, so I have improved a lot with a firm ‘leave it’.  A home with kids ages 10 and up that understand I am still a learning puppy could be a good match for me.  Let’s meet!  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a fun-natured, friendly puppy with a love for adventure with my people.  A sweet and very playful pup, I am looking for a family member to match my energy level.  Everything is a reason for a good play session.  I even made a ‘game’ out of drinking from the sprayer during my shelter bath – silly me! I’m also learning that lying and relaxing with my people after a day of playing can be fun, too!  / My energy level is 6-8, so let’s have lots of adventures together! • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I am learning lots of great doggie commands with my trainer.  I know the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, and ‘drop it’ commands and am getting familiar with ‘leave it’.  My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / Still a puppy, I was having several accidents on the shelter schedule, but I’ve been doing great on the prison/foster training program schedule. I do still let out the occasionally ‘excited to see you’ tinkle!  Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  Tennis balls are great!  I love chasing them, so throw one my way. I love the time I spend with the volunteers who care for me.  They say I will be a great walking or hiking buddy! / I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. A FRIENDLY, SMART, & ACTIVE GIRL:  Approx. 1 year old / Approx. 68 lbs. Hi there!  My name is Mariah!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control, and I am so happy to be on the journey to my new home.  I am a super active girl who is ready for a fun life with a family that loves training and exercising with their dog!  I was adopted for a short time, but it wasn’t a good fit for me or the family, so I’m back with Mostly Mutts looking for a great home!  I’m currently in the prison/foster training program, off site, so please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I'm available to meet.     • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I have met all kinds of dogs at Mostly Mutts and in the prison foster training program and enjoy playing with them very much!  If you have a dog at home already that would like a big playmate, let’s meet and see if we’ll be good pals! / I haven’t met kitties yet, so let’s meet. / I really liked the 8-year-old and 12-year-old girls that were in my former foster home, so kids around those ages may be a good fit for me, but best no little children since I’m a larger and enthusiastic girl.  Let’s meet! • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  The key to my success is exercise and a good leader – this is a must as I’m a big strong girl!  I love to go to the shelter play yard and chase after squeaky toys and balls that the nice volunteers throw for me.  This really helps me get my energy out and is so much fun!  I REALLY need daily hikes or doggy daycare-type activities!  After some activity to expend my energy, I am a sweet girl who is calm for my cuddles – then it is back to play time!  I’m a happy, very active and playful girl ready to learn! / My energy level is 7-9, so make plans to be active with me on a regular basis. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and accept nice strangers without jumping.  My leash manners are good when using a gentle leader, though I do get very excited when I’m outside on the leash, so I’ll need a family that can help me with that, and the Mostly Mutts trainers will be happy to show you how to do this and work with you.  I also know some tricks!  / My former family reported that I liked my crate and I’ve done well with it in the prison foster/training program too. / I have had good potty manners in the prison/foster training program and in my former home too on a good schedule. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love to go on trail walks and splash around in any body of water we can find.  I love toys (especially squeaky toys and balls) and mental stimulation games like treat balls and puzzles are my favorite!  I do cuddle when it is time to recharge my batteries, so save both cuddle and play time for me.  Treats are great – especially those Pup-Peronis – yum, so let’s use those for lots of fun and continued training! / I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on my immunizations, micro-chipped and spayed. I’m on a medication called Fluoxetine, so just ask about that.   I’m looking for a family that will lead and train me well and that will be active with me.  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.    April 24, 2024, 8:29 am
