Labrador Retriever puppies and dogs in Stamford, Connecticut

Hi my name is Curly and I have a great story to tell. I am a good boy that’s shy and unsure at first. People, car rides, and loud noises scare me. So I need a home that is quiet and 1-2 people at most would be best. I do great with other dogs, they bring me out of my shell. I know I’m not for everyone but I am the right one for the special person, who can work with me and go at my slow pace, who won’t get frustrated that the world is sometimes scary to me and I need time and help figuring it out. I really want to be loved and give you love, it will just take time, trust, and understanding. I am kennel trained, house trained, and like the backyard. Leash walks are not my favorite but I am working on that. Since I am scared, I like to be able to go in and out of my kennel when I am scared or just feel like it. If you want a special dog that’s not like everyone else, but will always hold a special place in your heart…. I am your boy! I have been around dogs and cats with no issues. I've also been around kids, but I prefer to keep to myself when little ones are around. Hi, my name is Moe! If you are looking for a special dog, you are barking up the right tree! What makes me special is that life started out a little shaky for me and has left me more nervous and scared than the average dog. With time, understanding, patience, and building trust I will open up and be the best companion you could want! As the saying goes, I stick to the 3’s. I need 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks of a consistent routine and time to learn it & 3 months to start feeling at home. At first, I am more comfortable with other dogs and people really scare me, so I would do best with an outgoing friendly dog in the house to show me how to feel comfortable and confident. As time goes on, I get more used to humans but would do best in a single-person home or just a couple (too many people or a lot of children will be too much for me). I like my kennel and my safe dark space. I will come around and hang out more when I trust it is safe. I am kennel trained and working on being better with the leash. We welcome Willis back to Animal Nation. He’s an awesome young dog and a great family pet but he needs to be the only dog in the home. Willis is great with people and loves children. He’s a good cuddler, he’s playful and we’re looking forward to finding him a forever family.

Fifi (along with sister Zoe) is looking for a new home after the passing of her mom. One of the granddaughters took Fifi and Zoe to the kennel because the other granddaughter was going to leave the girls loose in the unfenced yard. She felt like it was no life for them and they could wander off or be attacked. She never thought it would be over six months that the poor girls would be in the kennel with no one to love or care about them as treasured companions. Our hearts just ache for these girls who are so sweet and are so deserving for being the center of someone's world. Our lead volunteer in AL, Lisa, shares, "Fifi is so sweet! She would be great with an older couple or most anyone. Fifi is not high energy even though she is only 2-3 years old. Everyone at the kennel (and me) thinks Fifi is the sweetest thing in the world! She would make someone a great dog as long as they only wanted one dog. She is so easy - you give them a treat and they will do anything you want, but they mainly just want to lay around and be rubbed down and Loved. Fifi is 2-3 years old, is spayed, and up to date on vaccinations. Fifi was treated for heartworm and is now cleared for regular activity. She weighs about 39 lbs and is such a nice sized-dog for folks who live in an apartment or condo. Fifi loves to eat and she loves treats which she will take very gently from your hand. Fifi walks pretty decently on a leash and is house-trained. When she gets to know you, she is very loving. Fifi is dog-selective so it is probably best if she is placed as an only dog, or she could be adopted with her sister, Zoe. She's not super active for her age so she's a good fit for somebody a little older or someone who wants a snuggly companion Lisa, our lead volunteer in AL, has taken Fifi under her wing and can tell you all you need to know about this sweetie pie.
