Mila is a very sweet Lab mix, about 1.5 years old and 40 lbs. She is super friendly, great with kids and likes other dogs. She is still very much a puppy and jumps up with excitement when she sees you, but knows basic commands like sit and down. She is playful, affectionate and housetrained when kept on schedule. She is hesitant around men and prefers the company of women so we are looking for an all-female home for her. An overall great pooch looking for a great family to love! Story
Noviembre is a very sweet and adorable pup! He was surviving on the streets before coming to Pet Rescue and is reserved at first meeting but once he knows you, he warms up and is a total sweetheart. He's already housebroken, loves going on long walks, and gets along perfectly with other dogs... and even cats! Noviembre is an excellent listener, highly food motivated and he absolutely loves blueberries as treats after his meals. He is also quite the couch potato and would love to snuggle with you in bed, but he's also okay sleeping in his own bed on the floor next to yours. Noviembre's ideal home would be one that is calm and low-key with another playful dog and an enclosed yard. If you're looking to add some love and companionship to your life, come meet this cutie pie! Be sure to complete an application on line, and come to our Meet & Greet Saturday 11:30-1:30. If you are interested in this dog, please submit an application directly to our website, ny-petrescue.org. Only applications submitted directly to Petrescue will be considered.

Story
If dogs had romance novels, Astro would be on the cover! Yes, Astro is very handsome, but that’s not all. He has good manners, both indoors and out, and waits patiently for his meals. He is a smart guy, who already knows some commands, such as sit, stay, paw, come. He gets along with other dogs at the dog park, walks nicely on the leash, and enjoys meeting other calm dogs. At home, Astro is best as the only dog star in a family…but he’ll light up your life all on his own. He’s an active dog and loves (and needs) his walks and enjoys getting out on a few good walks every day…and if you’d like an enthusiastic running partner, your search is over. A fenced in backyard would be a plus for Astro. When the weather is nice, he will sit back there, and sun bathe, while keeping watch on all the squirrels. He relates well to people and when friends come to visit, he gives them a big welcome and will show off his toys. Astro likes to cuddle, but wants to be the initiator, and in the morning will greet his family warmly with kisses and cuddles. Astro likes to play with his toys, and will chase after a ball if thrown. Astro sleeps quietly all night, is housebroken, neutered and up to date on all vaccines. In summary, he is a lover! Astro is a lovely young man who can’t wait to be a devoted companion to his new forever family. Be sure to complete an application on line and come and meet Astro at our weekly Meet & Greet Saturdays 11:30-1:30. If you are interested in this dog, please submit an application directly to our website, ny-petrescue.org. Only applications submitted directly to Petrescue will be considered.

Story
Nimmo is a sweet, affectionate 2 year old lab. He is anxious, and is on medication which helps but does not completely alleviate his anxiety. He needs a new home because his person, whom he adores, is moving to a city for a new job and he can’t tolerate the urban environment, which is terrifying to him. He needs a family with no small children because they scare him, and with loving, patient adults who have experience with anxious dogs and who will give him the time and love he needs to blossom in a new environment. He needs a yard to retrieve in and a place for walks that is away from cars. He is good with cats and other dogs; new people are frightening. He is completely housebroken and crate trained, though we try to avoid the crate. He mostly only chews his toys and is not particularly food driven. He is not aggressive. The ideal home will have another young dog who can help him conquer his fear of new people. He would be a good friend.

Story
Vini was a puppy given to us by my mom. He had 6 other litter mates. He had a lot on energy and is super loving. He needs a home where he is the center of attention. He thinks he is a lap dog and knows sit, paw, and lay down. He does not have accidents in his crate/kennel area but will occasionally if he is in an unfamiliar place. He is very good about the kennel and doesn’t use the bathroom in it. He will let you know if he needs to go out. He’s is extremely good with kids and loves meeting new people. He is a good dog and super sweet. The re-homing fee will include all of his items including crate, toys, bowls, etc. We had been going back and forth about rehoming which is why he’s been posted for so long but we really do think he deserves a better life than we can currently give him. Vini needs a loving home with space and attention. If you are looking for your perfect companion dog, please consider meeting Vini.

Story
Hi my name is Curly and I have a great story to tell. I am a good boy that’s shy and unsure at first. People, car rides, and loud noises scare me. So I need a home that is quiet and 1-2 people at most would be best. I do great with other dogs, they bring me out of my shell. I know I’m not for everyone but I am the right one for the special person, who can work with me and go at my slow pace, who won’t get frustrated that the world is sometimes scary to me and I need time and help figuring it out. I really want to be loved and give you love, it will just take time, trust, and understanding. I am kennel trained, house trained, and like the backyard. Leash walks are not my favorite but I am working on that. Since I am scared, I like to be able to go in and out of my kennel when I am scared or just feel like it. If you want a special dog that’s not like everyone else, but will always hold a special place in your heart…. I am your boy! I have been around dogs and cats with no issues. I've also been around kids, but I prefer to keep to myself when little ones are around. I'm also crate and housetrained, neutered, heartworm negative, and have age-appropriate vaccinations!  If you're interested in adopting, please email your phone number to rockcityrescue@gmail.comMay 6, 2024, 12:09 am

Story
Hi, my name is Moe! If you are looking for a special dog, you are barking up the right tree! What makes me special is that life started out a little shaky for me and has left me more nervous and scared than the average dog. With time, understanding, patience, and building trust I will open up and be the best companion you could want! As the saying goes, I stick to the 3’s. I need 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks of a consistent routine and time to learn it & 3 months to start feeling at home. At first, I am more comfortable with other dogs and people really scare me, so I would do best with an outgoing friendly dog in the house to show me how to feel comfortable and confident. As time goes on, I get more used to humans but would do best in a single-person home or just a couple (too many people or a lot of children will be too much for me). I like my kennel and my safe dark space. I will come around and hang out more when I trust it is safe. I am kennel trained and working on being better with the leash. If you are looking for an amazing but special dog who needs a little bit of a calmer lifestyle, I am your man!!!! Email your phone number to rockcityrescue@gmail.com for more info! I’m a spoiled boy and would prefer to have all the love and cuddles from my hoomans to myself, so no dogs or kids for me. I would do best with a family who would continue to work on training with me; I’d be the best pupil. Hopefully my new hiking buddy will find me soon.*Rex would love to get to know you better! Please understand that we cannot hold any pets. All adoptions are done on a first come, first adopt basis for pre-approved applicants. The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.May 7, 2024, 3:31 pm

Story
Hudson is a very beautiful, smart, and loyal Golden Retriever mix and at 7 years old, and 55 lbs is very active for her age! She has been with her current family for 6 years, and is very loved, but is being re-homed due to concerns about her level of anxiety around their toddler. If you like to get out and exercise, Hudson would love to be your fitness partner. She walks nicely on a leash, and loves to hike and be outdoors. Hudson is dog selective (prefers male dogs), and wants to be the only dog in her forever home. She is completely housebroken and respectful when left alone. She is never destructive … no chewing or getting into anything she shouldn’t. Hudson spent some time living in an apartment in Brooklyn, and did not enjoy the city environment … she is much happier now living in the quieter suburbs with a fenced-in backyard. Hudson prefers an adult-only home to enjoy with her forever family... with an experienced dog owner who is committed to continuing her training. If you are interested in this dog, please submit an application directly to our website at www.ny-petrescue.org.
