Story
Hi I’m Choco! I’m a young, handsome pup (about 1 year old) and I’m just as sweet as my name. I’m a chocolate lab mix who recently came to the shelter when my family fell on hard times and couldn’t keep me. I’m a little new here, but I’m already showing everyone what a fun and lovable guy I am!You might notice my gorgeous chocolate-colored coat and striking blue eyes right away! I do tend to turn a few heads, but my personality is just as irresistible. I’m a high-energy, happy pup who loves being around people and brings playful, joyful vibes wherever I go.I’m super social and love hanging out in the office, especially when I can politely ask for pets (okay… sometimes enthusiastically ask). Toys are my favorite and KONG wobblers and balls are at the top of my list! I greet everyone who comes into my space with warmth, tail wags, and big smiles.I already know some basic obedience commands, and I really want to please my people. Since I’m still settling in, the shelter is continuing to learn more about how I do with other animals but one thing’s for sure: I’m a fun little guy with tons of potential.I’m looking for an active home that’s ready to help me learn, grow, and go on lots of adventures together. If you’re searching for a playful, loving companion with a big heart and even bigger personality, I might just be your perfect match. Come meet me today! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog`s better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial canine distemper combination vaccination- first worming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neutering-heartworm testingAdoption fee: $135.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2025 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $9.20. (Senior Citizen or Person with Disability-$7.20)Leash and collar included

Story
**Meet Baylor – Sweet 5-Year-Old Looking for His Perfect Home 💙** Baylor is a loving, affectionate 5-year-old boy who deserves a calm, stable home where he can truly thrive. We love him deeply, but with life changes, we know he would do best in an environment better suited to his needs. He is highly trainable, eager to please, and 100% potty trained. Baylor loves cuddles and being close to his people. He would do best as the **only dog**, as other dogs make him anxious. In a dog-free home, his sweet and loyal personality really shines. Baylor has a heart murmur that does not limit his activity. He also has allergies that require a monthly shot (about $150), which keeps him comfortable and prevents ear infections. More than anything, we want Baylor to find a loving home where he feels safe, secure, and cherished. He has so much love to give and will make an incredibly devoted companion for the right person or family.

Meet Harlow ******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you area not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Harlow is a 6 month old male Lab mix, currently weighing around 45lbs. He is in a foster home in Houston, TX, and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is found. Harlow and his sister were found abandoned in a field, both in terrible shape. Thankfully, an incredible foster stepped up and now they are looking for their own forever families. This energetic pup loves to play and can play hard with the best of them! He holds his own with the big dogs and doesn’t back down from a wrestling match. Harlow has been around dogs from 10 lbs - 100 lbs, and just needs a little time to make sure they’re future friends. Harlow prefers his person over anything else, and enjoys relaxing with them wherever they are. He adores the human kids in the home and follows his foster mom around the house. He needs slow introductions to new people as he can be nervous, but with a little time becomes everyone’s friend. He may prefer a low traffic home until he settles in. He’s picking up his puppy basics quickly, and is already crate and potty trained, knows sit and walks great on leash. Harlow is loyal, loving and will be the absolute best boy for the humans that show him the world is a safe place. Please let us know if you’d like to make this cutie your forever pup! ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt him? If someone other than yourself is part of the decision-making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Jafar, estimated age 1 year, neutered male, Labrador retriever mix at 36lbs. He is in Houston, Texas and can be transported out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Jafar is a lovable, medium-energy puppy with an incredibly soft coat and an equally gentle heart. He’s fantastic with dogs of all sizes and has a respectful and friendly play style. His polite tail wag and single greeting bark make him a hit with canine friends both on and off leash. With people, he’s a bit more reserved; he wasn’t well-socialized early on, so strangers can be overwhelming at first. But with patience and a calm introduction, he warms up and shows his affectionate, cuddly personality. Because he can get a little mouthy when excited, he’s better suited to a home with older children. On walks, Jafar stays close and doesn’t pull, though he does have a tendency to zigzag his way along, taking in everything around him. At home, he’s still working on potty training and has an occasional accident, and the crate isn’t his favorite place, though he’s crated when left alone and during meal times. He shares toys well and loves playing with them, even if they don’t always survive his enthusiasm. He has also learned how to sit on command. Jafar would do best in a moderately active home with another friendly, confident dog to help boost his confidence on walks and help him feel brave in new places. His foster would adopt him in a heartbeat if her home wasn’t already full, which says everything about the wonderful dog he’s becoming. Jafar is a wonderful puppy with tons of potential. He’s sweet, dog-friendly, and cuddly. Yes, he’s still learning the basics and building confidence—but he’s worth every minute. If you’re looking for a pup who will grow into an amazing companion with your guidance, Jafar is ready to meet you… from a respectful distance at first, of course. If you are interested in adding Jafar into your family, please fill out the adoption application below! https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DDAR/Dog ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org 🌟 Meet Blitz — The Sweetest Soul Still Waiting 🌟 Male • DOB 12/15/24 • ~55–60 lbs Blitz has been waiting for his forever home since before Christmas… and if anyone deserves to start the new year (and the next, and the next) surrounded by love, it’s this gentle boy. At about a year old and 55–60 lbs, Blitz is a soft-hearted, tender soul who just needs a little extra time to feel safe. He’s not the “life of the party” type — he’s more the “stands quietly beside you and loves you with his whole heart” type. And honestly? That kind of love hits different. Blitz can be a bit shy at first, but once he trusts you, that tail starts wagging like it’s powered by pure happiness. His loyalty runs deep. He bonds closely, loves gently, and will look at you like you hung the moon (even if all you did was hand him a cookie). 💛 Blitz’s Highlights: 🐾 Sweet, shy, and incredibly loyal 🐾 Around 55–60 lbs of gentle giant goodness 🐾 Good with other dogs — would truly thrive with a confident canine buddy 🐾 Neutered, vaccinated, and ready to go 🐾 Appreciates treats, soft voices, and slow, patient affection 🐾 Professional quiet companion Blitz came from an unwanted litter that lingered in rescue far too long. While other pups were heading home, he kept waiting. And waiting. He doesn’t understand why — he just knows he hasn’t found his person yet. He would do best in a patient home that understands shy dogs blossom in their own time. A friendly dog sibling would be a huge plus to help show him that the world isn’t such a scary place. Once he settles in, you’ll see his playful side peek out — a little bounce here, a happy tail swish there. He’s got it in him. He just needs someone to believe in him. Blitz isn’t asking for much. - A soft bed. - A kind voice. - A steady routine. - Maybe a few treats (okay, definitely a few treats). In return, you’ll get quiet loyalty, gentle companionship, and the kind of steady love that makes a house feel like home. He’s been waiting far too long. Let’s not make him wait any longer. 👉 Apply at haydudeequine.org and give Blitz the forever he’s been so patiently hoping for. 💛🐾

WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org 💦🐾 Meet Marfa — Splash Specialist & Full-Time Fun Coordinator! 🐾💦 4 Months Old • Female • Lab/ Blue Lacy Mix • Future 50ish lbs of Awesome Marfa and her littermates were found dumped at a hunting cabin in rural Texas — no running water, no comforts, no explanation. And yet somehow? This girl decided that life is AMAZING and she plans to live every second of it at full volume. At 4 months old, Marfa is the definition of happy chaos wrapped in a shiny puppy coat. She’s outgoing, social, wildly people-oriented, and firmly believes that strangers are simply friends she hasn’t tackled with kisses yet. Being a Lab/ Blue Lacy mix, she’s got the brains, the athleticism, and the “let’s go do something!” attitude. She’ll likely grow into a fabulous 50-pound adventure buddy — big enough for hiking trails and lake days, compact enough to still claim lap privileges (she doesn't seem to know she won’t be this small forever). Things Marfa Loves: • Water. All water. Any water. If it’s wet, she’s in it. • Other dogs — instant besties. • People — even better besties. • Running for no reason. • Sticks she absolutely does not need but must carry. • Investigating everything. Puppy shenanigans included at no extra charge: • Zoomies that defy physics • Sudden bursts of “I forgot what I was doing but it’s exciting!” • Dramatic flops when tired • Selective hearing when something more interesting is happening • The classic “Who, me?” face when caught mid-mischief Through everything she’s been through, Marfa has stayed joyful, resilient, and ready to take on the world. She doesn’t dwell on her rough start — she’s too busy planning her next splash session. She would thrive in an active home that enjoys outdoor adventures, lake days, hikes, runs, or even just backyard playtime. She’s smart, eager to learn, and at the perfect age to soak up training like a sponge (a very wiggly sponge). Her ideal home: • Enjoys activity and laughter • Is ready for puppy energy • Understands that socks are not safe • Doesn’t mind a little mud now and then • Wants a loyal, happy, goofy best friend Marfa isn’t just a puppy — she’s a whole vibe. A splash of joy. A streak of zoomie-powered sunshine. A reminder that life is meant to be lived enthusiastically. If your life could use more laughter, more adventure, and maybe a little extra water on the floor, Marfa is ready to dive in. 👉 Apply today at haydudeequine.org and let Marfa bring the fun, the splashes, and the puppy magic home 💙🐾
