Story
Shadow says: "Pick me! Pick me! My name is Shadow, and I'm up for adoption in Texas and I keep getting overlooked! I've been waiting for my forever home for more than a year. I'm getting sad." Shadow is about two years old, and he weighs about 50 pounds. He seems OK with cats!! Like a typical young dog, Shadow has lots of energy and loves to play. But he does very well in his crate and can be calm. He'd be a great hiking buddy or possibly running pal. He gets along with most dogs; for some reason, he isn't a fan of one dog he knows. We're not sure why. So if an adopter has another dog, we'd recommend a meet and greet first. Shadow has been non-reactive to cats, though. In fact, we had him cat tested, and we were told, "The cats checked him out from afar, then jumped right down and started rubbing on him. He wasn't so sure about it, but he stayed calm and gave no red flags." Shadow was originally adopted from Lucky Lab when he was a puppy during the pandemic. Several months later, he was returned to the rescue because his owners were busy with their kids and had no time to train him--he was a bit of a wild child. We'd like anyone who adopts Shadow to be an experienced dog owner and continue the positive reinforcement training he's received since he was returned. We think Shadow is very smart and would love the stimulation and attention he receives during training. He'd do best in a home with a fenced-in yard and adults and or adults and kids over 15. Shadow also needs exercise and playtime. Shadow has a lot of love to give, and we'd love for him to find a wonderful forever home. He is very loyal. He's housebroken, vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. Apply at www.luckylabrescue.com

Story
Up for adoption in Texas, meet Puppy Pippa. Ready for a cute pocket pup? Pippa is an 11-week-old, black and white puppy who weighs nearly 11 pounds. This adorable puppy was picked up in the darkness of night by a tribal policeman on an Indian reservation in Texas. One would think Pippa’s luck changed for the better that night, but instead, she was put in a cage and given five days to be saved or euthanized due to space reasons. Luckily for Pippa, a police officer reached out to Lucky Lab for help, and our volunteers raced to save her, driving for hours and arriving in the nick of time! Luck was finally on her side. Pippa was picked up and taken immediately to an animal hospital, and that's when her loving foster parents and Lucky Lab started fixing her up. Today, Pippa has conquered everything her previous life threw at her. Her eyes are bright, her personality is beginning to sparkle, and her intelligence shines through. She is learning about urban living and is not afraid of the sounds of the city. She co-exists with four larger dogs and does not appear to believe she is small or inferior in any way. With long legs, tiny feet, and a sweet disposition, Pippa is sort of a miracle. She is incredibly smart and learns quickly. Pippa is like many other puppies of her age, but her past has taught her to be cautious when let out in the dark. She has learned that sitting next to her foster family or sleeping next to her buddies is preferable to being alone, and how wonderful it is to be fed regularly. While Pippa does not appear to be entirely Labrador (or even some Labrador, :) we don't DNA test the dogs), she possesses the courage, grit, loyalty, and obedience of the breed. Pippa would do well in just about any home where she will get love and attention. She is learning the lessons all puppies learn, i.e., boundaries, patience, and how to live with others. She has her appropriate puppy vaccinations so far (which are continuing) and is microchipped. Pippa deserves a home where she is cherished, cared for, and allowed to reach her potential. If you have room in your heart and home for Pippa, please apply today at www.luckylabrescue.com

Story
Up for adoption in Texas: Shyla. Shyla is an energetic four-year-old black and white Labrador mix, weighing just under 80 pounds, with the most soulful, sweet, adoring eyes. Lucky Lab Rescue originally saved Shyla from a shelter when she was a puppy. Then she was adopted by a family with children and another dog, but Shyla was recently returned to Lucky Lab due to a divorce. Now, Shyla is staying in a Lucky Lab foster home where she loves to go on walks and explore. Her nose will take you on wonderful adventures. Her foster mom walks Shyla and another dog on a tandem leash every morning, and she enjoys sharing her stroll. She is still learning not to pull on her walks and does well with a gentle leader to make the walk more enjoyable for everyone. Shyla is excited for car rides and loves to look out the window when traveling. She knows how to sit, kennels well in her crate, and is housebroken. She can be a bit exuberant when first meeting other dogs, but it's her excitement to meet a new friend. Shyla lives with other dogs and cats in her foster home. If you're applying for this sweet girl and have another dog, we'd love for them to do a meet and greet with your pooch. If you have a cat, we'd want to ensure your cat is "dog savvy" and discuss whether your cat is territorial. She also enjoys playing in the fenced-in backyard, working with her foster mom in her home office (sometimes while napping or looking out the window), and will alert when someone knocks on the front door or rings the doorbell. She is protective of her humans and wants to receive pets, cuddles, and kisses as often as possible. She is not really a licker but will hold her nose up for kisses. Shyla is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Apply for this beauty at http://www.luckylabrescue.com

Story
🐾 Meet Wiley: Your Future Best Friend 🐾 Written from Wiley’s perspective… because who knows me better than me? Hi there, I’m Wiley Coyote — I'm up for adoption in Texas and New England. I'm a 2-3 year old fluffy yellow boy, weighing in at a handsome 65 pounds of love, loyalty, and just the right amount of goofy. I may not be a fan of the actual water, but I do love long walks on the beach. The breeze, the smells, the birds to watch — it’s all my kind of paradise. Just keep the waves to yourself, thank you very much. I’m a gentle soul with a big heart. I absolutely love meeting new people and other dogs (especially my foster sister — we play all day!), but I can be a little shy when things are unfamiliar. Give me a little time and some belly rubs, though, and I’ll be your snuggle buddy for life. Speaking of belly rubs... I have a signature move. When you walk by, I’ll lift my paw as a gentle nudge — “Hey, could you rub this fluffy belly real quick?” And if you pet me, I’ll melt into you. But if you stop, I’ll kindly put my paw on you again to remind you what’s important in life (me). Still not petting? No worries, I’ll just scoot a few feet away and chill. I’m not clingy, but I’m always nearby — your quiet shadow with a wagging tail. I’m crate trained, housebroken, microchipped, neutered, and vaccinated. When Lucky Lab saved me I was kind of scroungy looking, like a coyote, but I've blossomed into well, if I do have to say so myself, quite a beauty! Now I’m ready to start the best chapter of my life — with you. Are you ready for a loyal companion who watches the world with wonder, makes you laugh, and knows when to give you space? Then I’m your Wiley. Apply at www.luckylabrescue.com Let’s meet — and maybe make a forever kind of connection. 🐾

Story
Up for adoption in Texas and New England, Puppy Coal. He's a four-and-a-half-month-old month old 28 lb cute and sweet as can be puppy! And he’s smart! He wrote some things to tell you about himself! I’m Coal and I’m a diamond in the ruff! Just kidding, I’m the perfect gem! I’m only 4 ½ months old and have already perfected the best puppy dog eyes! If my cuteness isn’t enough for you, I have the softest, most beautiful coat of black fur! You will not be able to resist giving me all the pets and attention that I want. I’ve had the chance to meet men, women, and children and love them all! It does take me a few minutes to warm up but once I do, I’m Mr. Sociable! I had the chance to play with some kids and we had a blast! We played tug-o-war and chased each other! I’m currently living with 3 other dogs and I’m respectful of the older dogs and just want to play with the younger one. We play really well together but once he’s done playing with me, I move on to my toys. I love playing with toys too! I am a typical puppy and am currently working on potty training. I’m doing pretty well but occasionally have accidents in the house. If you pay close attention, I will let you know when I have to go out. My foster mom talks about how good I am! She loves that I go in my crate easily when it’s time for her to leave the house. I also sleep in my crate at night. I do like to be let out at some point in the night but as soon as I’m finished going potty outside, I go straight back in my crate and go back to sleep. If you ask me, I’m a great puppy!!! My foster mom has a few things to say about me, so here goes… Coal is a wonderful dog! He has a sweet and fun disposition! Once he is fully vaccinated, he will be the dog that you can take anywhere. He’s learning to like water (although still not happy with baths…lol!). We have had a lot of rain and thunderstorms lately and he has not seemed bothered by any of it. He’ll run outside in the rain to potty and then play in the puddles. He has been an absolute joy and I know he will make someone very happy! Coal is crate trained, microchipped, and has age-appropriate vaccinations. If you think Coal would make your family complete, please apply to adopt him at luckylabrescue.com

Story
Available for Adoption in Texas: Mabel! Mabel is a vibrant 6-year-old, weighing in at 60 pounds. She’s not just beautiful; she’s always camera-ready, with a smile that will light up your day. If you’re looking for a photogenic pup, Mabel is your girl – she’s a total ham! With her big personality and energetic spirit, Mabel loves to be part of the action. She enjoys the company of other dogs but would prefer not to feel confined by gates or crates when they’re nearby. If you currently have a dog at home, we recommend a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone’s a good fit! While we’re not sure how she would be around cats, she hasn’t shown much interest when passing by them on walks. Mabel is eager to please, especially when there are treats involved, making her a great candidate for continued positive reinforcement training with an experienced owner. She’d do best in a home with adults or families with older teens. House-trained, vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed, Mabel is all set for her forever home. Ready to add Mabel’s joyful and sweet personality to your life? Apply today at www.luckylabrescue.com!
