Story
HI guys.. I am Astro.... I am looking for a family to adopt me this Holiday season. I would make a GREAT addition to your family. My best qualities are.. I am always excited to see you... I love unconditionally..... I dance for food and yummy snacks... Because I am 6 years old I am already kennel and house trained...I actually put myself to bed in the kennel when my foster mom stays up too late. I know some commands, but sometimes I am too excited to pay attention to them. I get along with some doggies, yes I am kinda particular. I prefer the ladies. I am staying with Kelly right now while I find my new family. Message her for a 𝙻𝚒𝚏𝚎 of lunch dates with me.

Story
Gypsy is an amazing smart girl who wants to please. She has her basic training, house, crate, sit. She is ball, food, and praise motivated. She would be best as the only pet as she wants attention all the time. She can be a little clingy but would be a great pet for a single person who needs a loyal companion but can fit into a household with a family with older kids. She loves playing ball, playing in the water, laying on the couch watching tv and snuggling or napping.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Do not be fooled by my handsome distinguished gray face. I may look like I am 10, but I am a very young almost 8 year old purebred Black Labrador Retriever with the perfect amount of energy.  I can have moments of zoomies, playing fetch, playing with my toys, chewing on bones, and playfulness followed by deep sleep, giving kisses and snuggles.  I limped around on three legs for a really long time due to a bad ACL tear, but I’ve had that repaired now and am learning to use my 4th leg again. Old habits die hard, but I am doing really well.  I have been through physical therapy and home therapy, and thanks to Allie’s Haven, I will be back to normal in no time. Excuse me while I brag. I am really smart. I catch onto routines very quickly and like to “talk” to you when I need something. That’s right, I will whine or bark when I need to go outside; it is time to eat, time for a treat, or to go on a walk. When I get excited, I bark to let you know how happy I am. My foster family tells me I am one of the happiest dogs they have ever seen.   I do not like to be confined to a crate, but I do not need to be crated. I can be trusted for hours in the house by myself. I am housetrained, know several commands, and ride very well in the car. I am still working on leash manners. If I see a squirrel, you better hold tight because I am very strong.  Two of my very favorite things are kids and swimming. My foster family has a 15-year-old boy, and I love him so much. I love to walk with him, hang out with him, and swim with him. Speaking of swimming, I would love to have a pool. Not only do I love water--I’m a lab, after all--but swimming helps with my rehabilitation. I will chase cats, so it’s probably best for me to have a cat-free home. My foster family has two dogs, and I love every dog I meet.   When I was in the Fort Worth shelter, the shelter named me Huckleberry, but Allie’s Haven found out my real name is Riley, so WHEN you decide that I am the dog for you, I am Huckleberry, aka Riley. I cannot wait to find my forever family! Could that be you?Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 18, 2024, 9:27 am

Story
Up for adoption in Texas: Mocha. Mocha has lots of personality! Just look at how she poses for pictures, she shines and makes funny faces. She is about 7 years old and weighs 47 pounds. Mocha wants nothing more than to find her forever family. Mocha is a beautiful, fluffy, black and white girl, with gorgeous, hazel eyes. She listens well and redirects easily. Mocha would do best in a quiet home without a lot of people coming and going or young children running about. We think she may have some herding dog breed in her and she doesn't like people or kids zipping around her or her yard. Adults and/or adults and older teens would be ideal for Mocha's forever home. She needs a fenced-in backyard. She does best with slow introductions to new people. She likes other dogs but can be a little bossy, so we'd recommend a home where she can be the only dog, or perhaps a home with another chill or submissive dog. (We would require a meet and greet if an adopter has an existing dog.) Mocha is not fond of cats. To set Mocha and her new family up for success she will need continued positive reinforcement training and we can help you find the right trainer and set you both up for success! Mocha is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, housebroken, and crate trained. Apply now at www.luckylabrescue.com!

Story
Up for adoption in Texas: Mabel and her teddy bear. Mabel loves carrying around her teddy bear -- hoping one day she and her stuffed animal will find a loving family. Beautiful Mabel is about three-years-old and weighs 60 pounds. When she's not carrying around her toy, she can be found smiling for pictures. Look at that big grin. It's like she's posing. Mabel is clearly a ham. If you adopt her, at least someone in your family will happily pose for pictures. Mabel has a big personality and lots of energy. She does OK with other dogs but prefers not to be in a place she feels stuck behind a gate or crate when another dog is present. We'd recommend a meet and greet if you have another dog. We aren't exactly sure how she would do with a cat in her home. She's walked by some and has not really reacted. Mable would thrive doing more positive reinforcement training with an experienced owner. We recommend a home with adults or adults and older teenage kids. She is housebroken, vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed. Please help Mabel get a home! Apply at www.luckylabrescue.com

Story
Shadow says: "Pick me! Pick me! My name is Shadow, and I'm up for adoption in Texas and I keep getting overlooked! I've been waiting for my forever home for more than a year. I'm getting sad." Shadow is about two years old, and he weighs about 50 pounds. He seems OK with cats!! Like a typical young dog, Shadow has lots of energy and loves to play. But he does very well in his crate and can be calm. He'd be a great hiking buddy or possibly running pal. He gets along with most dogs; for some reason, he isn't a fan of one dog he knows. We're not sure why. So if an adopter has another dog, we'd recommend a meet and greet first. Shadow has been non-reactive to cats, though. In fact, we had him cat tested, and we were told, "The cats checked him out from afar, then jumped right down and started rubbing on him. He wasn't so sure about it, but he stayed calm and gave no red flags." Shadow was originally adopted from Lucky Lab when he was a puppy during the pandemic. Several months later, he was returned to the rescue because his owners were busy with their kids and had no time to train him--he was a bit of a wild child. We'd like anyone who adopts Shadow to be an experienced dog owner and continue the positive reinforcement training he's received since he was returned. We think Shadow is very smart and would love the stimulation and attention he receives during training. He'd do best in a home with a fenced-in yard and adults and or adults and kids over 15. Shadow also needs exercise and playtime. Shadow has a lot of love to give, and we'd love for him to find a wonderful forever home. He is very loyal. He's housebroken, vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. Apply at www.luckylabrescue.com

Story
Up for adoption in Texas and New England: Kashew. Meet Kash, the cutest puppy ever! Cash is about nine months old and weighs over 53 pounds so far, he's still filling out and growing. His hobbies include sniffing the air, hunting bugs, and watching airplanes go by. He loves playing fetch and gets better and better at bringing the ball back every day. He loves being outside and chewing on his chew toys. High-fives are his signature move. Cash is a medium-energy puppy who is down to play or relax, whichever the situation calls for. He’s learning how to walk on a leash and really loves being out and about walking, and it’s easy for him to learn. Kash can learn any trick, especially if there are treats involved. He has been living with a 12-year-old and 9-year-old human foster brothers and has been spotted enjoying their trampoline. He regularly goes to the bathroom outside, but he has to be let out frequently since he’s still working on giving the signal to go potty. He’s a great sleeper and sleeps all night long in his crate with the door open. When his foster family is out, he stays in his crate with a chew toy. Kash cannot wait to give his new family a high-five! Kash is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and crate-trained. If you would like to make sweet Kash a part of your family, apply at luckylabrescue.com
