Story
Hi, my name is Maggie, and I'm 4 years old and weigh 55 lbs. It's difficult to tell in my photos, but I have a beautiful, shiny black coat with auburn highlights. I am a little shy at first, but once I get to know and trust someone, I will be the most loyal and loving dog ever. I have wonderful house manners, so my foster family leaves me with run of the house when they leave. I love toys, in fact I'm a little addicted to them! I don't chew or destroy them, I just love to carry them around, kind of like a security blanket. I love to take walks, and I have great leash manners, although I do like to stop and smell a few things along the way. So many interesting smells out there! I get along with most other dogs, but I definitely do best with a more laid back dog buddy. Truth be told, I would love to be an only dog so I can get all the attention and cuddles. I also prefer a quiet, low activity home. I'm really a low maintenance dog. Just hanging out with my people and an occasional walk, and I'm good! Please submit your application to meet me, and an adoption counselors will contact you.

Story
Murdock is a very handsome Black Lab/Cocker Spaniel mix. We know that Cocker Spaniel is hard to believe, but that's what DNA results show. No guarantees on accuracy of the DNA test though. He has a gorgeous shiny coat and soft expressive eyes. Murdock is two years old and he weighs about 50 lbs. Foster dad says that Murdock is by far the smartest dog he has ever had, and he is energetic and adventurous! He is just the opposite of a couch potato and needs an adopter who will be active with him. Murdock's favorite things include going on hikes, walks around the neighborhood, chasing leaves and meeting new people. He is friendly with everyone he meets (human and canine) and greets them with a wagging tail. Murdock will be a loving and loyal companion for some lucky adopter.

Story
Brady is a 3 year old, 78 lb Black Lab/Border Collie mix, but his breed is just our best guess. He definitely has the "lab bump" on top of his head. He is so handsome with his shiny back coat! Brady (aka Charlie) is housetrained, crate trained and walks well on a leash. He's a big, strong boy, so If he sees a rabbit or a squirrel, hold on tight! Walking him in a harness will help with those situations. Brady is good with other dogs, big and small, and he is even good with a cat that visits from time to time. He hasn't been around many kids, so we are recommending kids that are over 10 years old and have experience with large dogs. Brady is affectionate with people he knows, and will give them plenty of kisses. He is past the puppy stage but still playful and still likes his toys of all kinds. He likes to chase a ball, but just for a short time. He likes to play and run with other dogs he meets at the dog park. Brady is a smart boy and knows Sit, Stay, Lie Down, and Shake. He's still working on not jumping up when he's excited to see people. If interested in Brady, please submit your application, and an adoption counselor will contact you.

Story
Jet is a 4 month old, 19 lb Labrador Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix, but the breed mix is just our best guess. He has a shiny jet black coat, complemented with white stockings and chest. This adorable puppy was dumped at DFW Airport, hence the name Jet! He is friendly with everyone, human and canine. He loves to play with the other dogs in his foster home, especially Kirby who is also available for adoption. Kirby looks like she could be Jet's big sis. Jet loves toys of all types and needs lots of durable chew toys. Jet is affectionate too. When it's nap time, he loves to cuddle up with or on foster mom. He still jumps up when excited, so we are recommending no kids under the age of 6. He's a smart boy and will sit for a treat, and he is quickly learning good leash manners. He sleeps through the night in his crate but still needs a little more work on his potty training. If you would like to meet Jet, please submit your application, and one of our adoption counselors will contact you.

Story
Coco is a 2 month old, 5 lb mix breed puppy. Her mama is a beautiful Black Lab, and we are guessing that Dad was an Aussie mix. Coco is everything a puppy should be - soft, squishy, cuddly, playful, and curious. She is having so much fun in her foster home - exploring, playing with toys and other dogs, and learning new things every day! Of course, she is still a baby and takes lots of naps, curled up on her dog bed or an available lap. We recommend no kids under the age of 6 since Coco still has her very sharp baby teeth. She will need lots of sturdy chew toys to keep her chewing on the right things. The first step to meeting Coco is to submit your application, and one of our adoption counselors will contact you.

I am is such a sweet girl, love to cuddle & play! I really miss having a backyard to run off my extra energy! I really love cats! I even had a cat roommate! He lived with us when he was 6 weeks to 2 years. I made sure to play gentle since he was a lot smaller than me! I love playing with kiddos. I like to jump and run, so probably older kids are best (5 and up) I don’t like to share my toys or my food with other doggies, so it’s probably best if I’m the only dog in the home. I’ve never been aggressive, I just like having all the attention.

Story
Tails is a 2 year old retriever mix we adopted when she was a few months old. She is a very sweet girl, loves to play fetch and chase the laser pointer around. She has basic training knows sit, stay, shake/paw, come, treat, kennel, and knows her name. She is kennel trained and loves her crate! She also loves to run and play outside. She plays well with other dogs, but I will say she is food aggressive and we usually feed her in her crate away from my other dogs. She needs a new home because her and my other female mixed breed dog both think they are dominant and we are having behavioral issues between them. That being said she is good with other dogs she has never gotten in a fight at the dog kennel and loves to play with the dogs there, but there is some kind of aggression with my other female dog in the home. She loves to cuddle and sleep with people, but I think with her behavioral issues she will require an experienced owner. Would hate to have to return her to the shelter :(

Story
Rosie is a lovable three-year-old lab and pit mix, adopted a year ago from Hickory Creek Animal Shelter. It breaks my heart to rehome her, but it’s what is best for Rosie. I am moving out of the country, and putting her on a flight in the cargo hold would cause her irreparable psychological trauma. Rosie suffered some trauma with her prior owner and is anxious, so sudden loud sounds are scary and she has separation anxiety, which requires daily medication. With her meds she is goofy, food motivated, a ball chasing fiend and is becoming a cuddle bug. She loves water! Rosie loves her human, is skeptical of men at first, and is a great guard dog. She has been around children before with no issues but has never lived with kids. She has dog and cat brothers that she gets along very well with, but would maybe do best in a one dog home where she gets all the attention. She is crate trained and knows basic commands. She requires daily exercise. Rosie will truly be a wonderful best friend!

Story
LOUIE LOUIE (available for adoption) Meet Louie, a 1 year old, tall Labrador with a happy, playful personality. He is about 1 1/2 years old and 68 pounds.    Louie came to us very skinny, and we have been working to put some weight on him. We are pretty good at that!!!  He has a healthy appetite that fuels fetch sessions and tumble time with his doggy foster brother. He’s gaining a little at a time, whatever he does not burn off during play. Louie is neutered, vaccinated, on heartworm prevention and microchipped   Louie would love to be part of an active family. Louie gets along well with other dogs, and enjoys having both people and dogs for company. He is a big boy, and a baby at heart. His favorite things are squeaky toys, his football, treats, the water, and buddies.   Louie wants to be near the action, and does not want to miss anything. He is enthusiastic in all things, and is learning to be gentle. He is an eager learner and picks up on things quickly. He is housebroken and crate trained.   After a full day of living life to the fullest, Louie settles down easily through the night. Then he wakes ready to do it all again.  Louie will need a fenced back yard with plenty of grassy area for play time. He would really love another dog buddy about his size in his new family. He is being fostered with kids and does great with them. Due to his size and energy level, Louie would be best with kids at least 6 to 8 years old. He has not been tested with cats.    Louie wants to be your BFF, that’s Best Fetching Friend!!  If you are in the DFW area, please see our web site for information on adopting this precious boy. Our adoption fee is $295.  www.LoneStarLabRescue.org

Story
CIERRA If you ask Cierra, she is a princess looking for her crown! Cierra is a beautiful pure bred Labrador, about 2 years old. She absolutely loves to be with people and will snuggle up for attention if you let her. Cierra is about 67 pounds, so she is a great, smaller sized Labrador. Cierra has a lot of bounce when you first meet her, but she settles down pretty quickly. She is well house trained, likes her big crate and walks nicely on the leash. She is very smart and catches on quickly. Cierra came to Lone Star a few months ago. We don't know much about Cierra's background, but she was a nervous girl when she first arrived. She is taking some medication that we are sure can be stopped, once she is settled in with her new family. Cierra did not have much training prior to coming to Lone Star. Her foster mom & dad have been working with her to teach good manners, crate training and house breaking. She does not play nicely with other dogs, so we are looking for a home where she can be the center of attention with no other dogs. A home with a 6 foot privacy fence is required for the Princess Cierra. Cierra would probably be a good companion to kids over the age of at least 8 or 10 years old. She is probably too strong and bouncy for little ones. Cierra is a very healthy girl with bright eyes and a shiny, chocolate coat. She is fully vaccinated, spayed, on heartworm prevention and microchipped. If you live in the DFW area and are interested in adopting a princess of your very own, please complete our adoption application. Cierra's adoption fee is $295.

My sweet Apollo needs to find a new home. He is 5 years old completely house broken and does not need to be crated when we are not home. Very well behaved, loves laying in your lap, and great with people. He just recently stopped getting along with my other dog. He will need to be the only dog in the house.
