Story
Bridgette is a very calm, very gentle Belgian Malinois mix. We listed her as a Lab mix because that’s what she looks like, and we didn’t think you’d believe us if we put the truth (confirmed by a DNA test), that in addition to Malinois, she’s part Poodle and part Yorkie. The white dog you see part of in one of the pix is her mother. Bridgette weighs 41 pounds and is a year and a half old. She is unusually calm for a dog that age. Bridgette is in a foster home with 7 other dogs and she gets along well with all of them. Her most frequent activity is lounging. She likes to lounge—on the couch, on the bed, wherever. She doesn’t play much, even with the other dogs, and isn’t much interested in toys, except for Benebones, which she loves to chew. Bridgette is a very affectionate dog. Just lay a hand on her and watch her melt into it. She loves to have her head scratched, her belly rubbed, her butt scritched. She LOVES her people. She does the Dog Dance of Joy every time foster dogmom returns to the house. She is a very easy dog to love. Her manners are impeccable. She is housetrained. She takes treats gently from your hand. She is very good with new people—curious and friendly, always up for a scritch from strangers’ hands. She is not crate-trained because there is no need to crate her—she is totally non-destructive. She won’t chew or tear anything up. You’ll return to the house in exactly the condition it was when you left it—unless you were careless and left food on the counter where she can reach it! Bridgette will snag people food whenever she can get it. Bridgette rarely barks. She rides well in the car. She likes to sleep at the foot of foster dogmom’s bed, but she will also tolerate it if you move her out of the bed. Bridgette would be an excellent companion dog or family dog. She would do equally well in a house or an apartment (preferably one with a dog park). We got Bridgette because her family had to move out of the country and couldn’t take her, but it is clear from her behavior that this dog has been loved and well cared for. Bridgette is spayed, has all her shots, and is microchipped. She is heartworm-negative. Note: We always respond first to inquiries that tell us something about your living situation (house, apartment, single, family, etc.) and why you want this dog. Be sure to include your phone number in your inquiry. We call inquiries that seem to be a good fit for the dog.

Story
Hi there! My name is Nika! I had a very rough start to life, living in garbage, along with my 8 puppies and some other poor furry souls. Thank goodness for rescue networking! With a lot of determination from a few kind people and a couple trips, we were all saved from the squalor and placed with Humane Tomorrow fosters with hopes that we have a new beginning. I arrived with a bad case of non-contagious mange and fleas. I was missing a lot of hair but with the right medicine, food & care, I am quickly blossoming into a black beauty. I am currently 47 lbs. of pure sweetness and expected to gain a few more as I am now getting plenty of yummy, nutritious food. I have settled in quickly to my new surroundings. I have good house manners. Ok, recently I started counter surfing to sniff out any goodies that may be left there, but that’s because I’m smart with a good nose. I haven’t chewed anything in the house except my toys (I like stuffed squeaker types). I’m getting the hang of fetch and even frisbee (sort of) if my foster mom could throw it the right way consistently:) I enjoy walks and my leash manners are good until I see a rabbit. I am stronger than I look and my foster mom learned to be on the lookout for critters that may catch my interest because I can get to the end of my leash fast. Squirrels, birds, ducks & geese are not all that interesting but those rascally rabbits on our evening walks are the most fascinating to me. I may do just fine with cats, but I can’t say for sure. I am gentle so I think I would be good with kids. I am great in my large crate, but I am confident enough to have free reign in the house when left alone and at night. I sleep on one of my beds, although I certainly wouldn’t mind sleeping on the couch or with my people if they allowed me to. I learned the dog door in no time and haven’t had an accident. My least favorite thing is taking a bath. As my coat continues to heal, maybe I’ll learn to love them. I love car rides and am ready to go when you are. I sit like a champ and am working on other commands. Did I mention I am smart and eager to please? I am a good dog on my way to greatness! I have heartworms because I wasn't kept on heartworm prevention. Humane Tomorrow will pay for my treatment which is very successful! Please submit your application, and an adoption counselor will contact you.

Story
Buzz is a 2 year old Labrador mix, but breed mix is just our best guess. He has such a beautiful, shiny coat, and snow white chest and paws. Buzz is a handsome dude with a sweet temperament. He does like to play with his toys and be outdoors and car rides are the best! Buzz is a curious guy and loves to go investigate the backyard on nice weather days. He is cuddly and likes to be held and sit (or sleep) on someone's lap if you let him. He is crate trained, great with kids and would love an active family that enjoys the outdoors and going on walks. He does great with other dogs and loves going to doggy daycare! Buzz was originally adopted as a puppy from Humane Tomorrow but due to unforeseen circumstances his family is having to return him and we are committed to finding his future forever home. The first step to meeting Buzz is to submit your application, and an adoption counselor will contact you.

Story
Sunny is a 3.5 month old, 13 lb sweetheart of a puppy. His ears can't quite decide whether to stand up or remain folded! He and his littermates were surrendered to a shelter with no mom or dad, so the breed mix is just our best guess. Maybe Lab, Shepherd and/or Aussie mix. Sunny has a sweet temperament and loves to snuggle. He also loves to play with all kinds of toys, but the squeaky bunny toy is his favorite! He also likes to run zoomies around the backyard. Sunny gets along with the resident dog and thinks the resident cat is pretty exciting! He is working on crate and potty training and making progress every day. Sunny will be at our adoption event on Saturday 5/23 at Hollywood Feed, 3750 Long Prairie Rd in Flower Mound. Come and visit him between 11 am - 1 pm. He may be the puppy you have been looking for!

Story
Cara is a 1.5 year old, 25 lb Lab mix. She was rescued, along with several other dogs, from a horrible situation where she was literally living in a trash heap. She was underweight when she arrived but is steadily gaining weight, now that she is getting plenty of yummy food. Foster mom says, despite her past, she is sweet, affectionate and playful! She enjoys fetch, tug, and chase, and is always up for a good sniffy walk (her harness works great!). She’s eager to learn, potty trained, crate-friendly, and comes when called - especially to whistles, lip smacks, or “Skip”, which is the resident dog’s name. She's very social and enjoys the company of other dogs and is also happy hanging around nearby when foster mom is working. She's never been separated during the day more than 4 hours for potty training reasons, and she does not have "accidents". Cuddly and with happy energy, a good mix of fun and snuggles. Just keep shoes tucked away - she’s a curious girl and still mastering her puppy manners. She'll make a great Best Friend for a lucky someone! Cara has heartworms because she was not kept on heartworm prevention, but Humane Tomorrow will pay for her treatment with our partner vet, and the treatments are very successful. Please submit your application, and an adoption counselor will contact you.

Story
Angus is a five month old, 26 lb Labrador Retriever mix. He was rescued with several other dogs from a very bad living situation. All that is a distant memory now since he's recovering and experiencing the good life in his foster home. Angus loves playing with other dogs. One of his favorite games is to find a toy and play keep away from his foster brother. He likes to play with anything that bounces, squeaks, or can be pulled on. His puppy antics may be a little too much for more laid-back dogs. He is a smart pup, ready to learn, especially if a treat is offered as a reward. After play time, he loves to snuggle with any willing person. Angus is crate trained and making good progress on his potty training. Please submit your application, and an adoption counselor will contact you.
