Story
Meet Jack: Your Future Furry Best Friend! Jack is a charming Foxhound and Beagle mix, surrendered because his high energy levels were too much for the toddlers in his previous home. This handsome boy may look like a black lab, but he's a unique and beautiful blend of two spirited breeds. Personality and Energy Jack is full of energy and love, making him a perfect fit for an active home with older or no children. He is picky about who his doggie friends are but does ok sometimes with other dogs. Jack is incredibly intelligent and knows a variety of commands, including sit, shake, look at me, touch, and spin. His favorite pastime is being outdoors, chasing squirrels and birds, so a fenced-in yard or an active family is ideal to help him burn off his abundant energy. Perfect Companion After a day of outdoor fun, Jack loves nothing more than to cuddle up on the couch or in bed with his people. He bonds quickly and deeply, making him a loyal and loving companion. Jack is a perfect gentleman when it comes to waiting for his food, displaying excellent manners. Training and Behavior Jack walks beautifully on a leash with his head halter but still needs a bit of work with a harness. He does have a typical hound dog trait of resource guarding his food from other dogs, though he's perfectly comfortable with his humans. Ideal Home Jack would thrive in an active household where he can get plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. He needs a family that can match his energy and provide the love and companionship he craves. If you're looking for a loyal, energetic, and loving companion who will keep you on your toes and cuddle up with you at the end of the day, Jack is the perfect match for you. Come meet him and see how quickly he'll become your new best friend!

Story
Atari is the sweetest and most obedient dog in the world. Her birthday is April 13th. She will be 12 this year. No issues to report with her health. Approximately 45lbs, she is a sturdy and playful medium/Large size Lab-Mix dog. It breaks my heart to even be doing this, but she deserves a better quality of life. My work and schedule keep her in this apartment alone for majority of the day as I work 2 jobs just to stay afloat. She if a family friendly dog and wants to be loved on regularly. She is the perfect family dog. Crate trained, she knows several commands and is food motivated. Will literally do anything you tell her to with a morsel of kibble in your hand. Please help me find a good home for her.

Story
Winkle has a lot of energy and needs a fair amount of exercise. He is playful and enjoys active play. He loves to retrieve balls in the yard as well as chase squirrels. He is very sweet and loving. Winkle knows sit, stay, down, off and come. He also will sit patiently and give you each paw while you clean or dry his feat. He is housebroken and crate trained and does very well in his crate overnight. Winkle is apprehensive when new people first enter the home and needs a patient person who will work with him. He adjusts quickly after his initial barking reaction. He walks well on the leash but needs coaxing to get in the car and is making good progress. He needs to be in a quieter home without children or teens running around and a fenced yard to run around and play in. He is very patient with other dogs, and would do very well in a home with another active dog. He was in a home with cats and did very well. Questions About this Animal? Story
Come meet me during our events Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM - 4 PM at the Homeward Trails Manny Law Adoption Center, 11116 Fairfax Station Rd, Fairfax Station, VA. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: adoptioncenter@homewardtrails.org PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ LOCATION: Adoption Center ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Adoption Center ADOPTION FEE: WAIVED! I'M PART OF THE REWARDS PROGRAM AND MY ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED. WE WILL ALSO PAY MY FOSTER OR ADOPTER $500. ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 60-70 lbs KNOWN WITH DOGS: Taylor enjoyed having a medium to large playmate to keep him company in a previous foster home. He does not require another dog but does need exercise and stimulation to stay busy when he's not snoozing. KNOWN WITH CATS: Not the best with cats. Just wants to play and barks a lot :) KNOWN WITH KIDS: Taylor would prefer to be the the only kiddo in your home! KNOWN CUES: He knows to sit, stay, lay down, and is learning touch (come), leave it, drop it, and a place cue. He walks great on the leash and is very food-motivated which has made training pretty easy. KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: He is house-trained! He's learned to be comfortable in his crate after some initial anxiety, but he's equally happy to free-roam in your house when you're away. KNOWN LIKES: Food, cuddling, people who move at his speed. KNOWN DISLIKES: Taylor can be nervous around new people and prefers friends who move slowly with him and recognize signs of discomfort. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: HT has a number of dogs that need very special homes. These dogs have been failed by humans along the way, leaving them homeless and with issues from their treatment. We'll be honest. Some of them are real jerks. But not always. And not to everyone. Not everyone can be charming ALL the time, right? Others are just fearful and don't like other animals because they have had a bad interaction at some point. Some of them love other dogs but are just plain scared of everything. But all of them are good on the inside. And we believe that ALL of them deserve a chance at life and love. And we're looking to find the right human out there to make that happen. But competition is tough. And they're up against small, well-behaved doggies...so we are offering incentives for special humans willing to give these pooches a chance. WE WANT YOU! ***We are paying $500 to any approved foster or adopter of our REWARDS dogs.*** The human will also get ongoing training support, all supplies covered and a $25 Amazon gift card each month for 6 months. You will learn and grow. You will be doing a world of good for a dog who has really had it rough in life. Adoption Center staff considered naming him "Bear," because once he knows and trusts you, Taylor is just like a big teddy bear. When he tells you he's ready, he LOVES being pet, but is also happy to show off his many skills and sometimes play with toys. Treats are a BIG DEAL to Taylor and are a great way to win your way into his heart and get him using his brain. He's very polite on-leash, loving the opportunity to sniff but not pulling too much (unless he's sees a squirrel - ooops!). He also enjoys car rides and can be found with his head sticking out the window, taking in the breeze. Taylor would prefer to be in a quiet, kid-free home without a lot of foot traffic or hustle and bustle, so he can bask in even more of your love and attention. If you're interested in learning more about Taylor, contact us today.
