Story
*Woof* I`m in a foster home! Email my foster caregiver to meet me: caraballo07@gmail.comMeet Darling Dora, a gentle, affectionate girl who’s been thriving in her foster home after being one of the shelter’s longest-term residents. Dora has truly blossomed! Once a shy, cautious pup, she’s now a joyful, curious dog who loves exploring, playing fetch, and snuggling with her people. She had to learn how to fetch — at first, she’d chase the ball but wasn’t quite sure what to do next — but once it clicked, she fell in love with the game! Now fetch is one of her favorite ways to play and burn off energy. Dora is the ultimate snuggle bug — she gives the best welcome-home greetings, gentle hugs, and leans in close for extra love. She’s affectionate, expressive, and loves being part of the action, whether that’s lounging on the couch, following you around the house, or joining an outdoor adventure. She’s also wonderful with other dogs! Dora was co-housed at the shelter with a younger playmate and did great with chase-and-tumble games. In her foster home, she’s been excellent with an elderly resident dog, adjusting her play to be gentle and respectful — and she even enjoys cozy snuggles with her furry roommate.Dora is medium energy — the perfect balance of playful and calm. She loves her toys (there are stuffies everywhere in her favorite spots!) and would be thrilled to join her family on long walks or hikes. She’s also treat-motivated, intelligent, and eager to please, which makes her a quick learner and a joy to train. After playtime, she’s just as happy to curl up beside her people and relax. After all she’s been through, Dora is ready for her happily ever after — a loving family who’ll give her the stability, snuggles, and adventures she’s been waiting for.

*Woof* I`m in a foster home! Email my foster caregiver to meet me: alexcoplecounseling@gmail.comSweetie Petey is adorable! He has those sweet and oh so goofy ears and his silly tongue is always hanging out of his smiley face. Petey came to us from another shelter in hopes of being adopted soon. He`s a lovely young man and was so eager to be out of the shelter. He craves stability and kindness so he would love to be in a home where he can settle and feel safe. He recently spent time with a foster and they shared, `Petey has blossomed and brings so much joy to the house and is a natural comedian. He loves his toys. He`ll spend hours cuddling on the couch, loves a good sniffy walk, and self-entertains with his toys. He is really a sweetheart!` Meet this wonderful dog soon!

Story
Come visit me at 71 Oglethorpe St NW! Meet Caboose! A four-year-old, medium-sized mix with a lab face and adorable short legs. Caboose is a medium-energy pup -- he loves outdoor time and would be able to keep up on longer walks, but settles well in the house, and is doing great with a couple relaxed walks a day, after which he`ll happily snooze.Caboose is sweet, affectionate, and eager to learn. He`s attentive to and attached to people but not 100% a velcro dog; he`s able to nap while you`re doing something else nearby if he`s had some exercise. He`s also food motivated but not food obsessed and doesn`t try to table/counter-surf. He does well being handled and will seek out attention and frequent belly rubs.On walks, Caboose is unbothered by most dogs, occasionally barking at smaller dogs. He`s done well handling unexpected situations like off-leash dogs running up to him. He loves going for medium-paced sniffy walks and doesn`t pull excessively. One thing to work on will be giving Caboose time to get used to unfamiliar circumstances and people -- he can be uncertain and bark around strange kids, scooters, people carrying odd things or wearing helmets, etc. -- so he`ll need some patient exposure and lots of treats to help him learn that there`s nothing to worried about. Caboose does really well in the house. He`s had a couple accidents but is definitely mostly house-trained -- he understands to pee as soon as we get outside. He occasionally alert barks but does well with various apartment noises and is capable of ignoring or sleeping through them. Caboose is curious but understands quite well to only play with his toys. He doesn`t seem to be destructive or an intense chewer -- plush toys are still intact! He`s absolutely adorable playing with his toys and ball. He loves his ball, and will toss it for himself and chase it, self-entertaining for quite a while. Caboose is a very happy dog! He`ll make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a balanced pup: playful, sweet, engaged, and a great napper.

Story
Van is the rock star of dogs.  He is a showstopper!  But we all know it isn't (just) about looks - and Van has the whole package.  He is sweet, loving, smart and adores humans and dogs.  At a year old and 32 pounds, Van is a great size and age to join your household!  Van's foster tells us he’s such a smart pup and knows sit, down, crawl, paw, touch, find, and spin. He’s working on “eyes on me,” follow, place, and stay. When he gets wound up, he responds to “get it together.” If you tell him “get your toy” he’s able to redirect himself the majority of the time.  He is housebroken and will put himself in the crate when he needs a little downtime.  He’s been very friendly with dogs of all sizes and he wants to play with every dog he meets. He can get a bit overexcited during play but responds very well when a dog corrects him.  He is working on learning to sit and stay calm when a dog passes him while on a walk. As a young dog he will need a family who is willing to continue training and give him the exercise and play that a young dog needs.  Apply today - this rock star will not be around for long!  PAW adopts to northern VA, southern PA, DC, and MD. ##2532462##

Story
URGENT - needs foster! Meet Chuck – A PAW FAVORITE, Chuck is a loving boy with personality to spare!  Chuck is a handsome, playful 2-year-old brindle boy, who LOVES to play with other dogs. He is super patient with his canine friends, even littles! Weighing in at around 60 pounds Chuck is bursting with love. Despite his young age, Chuck developed cataracts and lost his vision—but thanks to the amazing team at PAW, he’s had eye surgery and is now discovering the world with fresh, bright eyes and a nose for fun. Because of his limited vision early in life, Chuck can be a little tentative when meeting new people. But he warms up quickly and shows his goofy, sweet, and fun-loving personality! He absolutely loves going for walks, exploring the yard, and doing zoomies (watch his video—it's guaranteed to make you smile). He’s patient, smart (he knows "sit" and is learning "down"), eager to please, and already crate trained and housebroken. Chuck would be fine as an only dog but he would love a brother or sister! Chuck is also very social—great with other dogs and people. His favorite things include peanut butter, music, ear scratches, and nose rubs. This oversized cuddlebug thrives on love and companionship and would make a wonderful addition to just about any family—especially one with another dog, as he’s been thriving in a foster home with canine pals. Can you be the one to help him continue adjusting to life now that he can see? PAW will provide training to support his adopter.  Let’s help Chuck see how beautiful life can be—with you by his side. ##2331889##
