Story
Current Location: Frederick, MD Meet Gambet: A Black Gentleman with a Heart of Gold Gambet is a big love bug and a real sweetheart with a kind and sweet soul. This gentle boy is happy to be in a home with people who care, and he's ready to bring that same devotion and joy to his forever family. Snow Lover Extraordinaire Gambet LOVES the snow! He romps in it, eats it fresh, sticks his muzzle in to sniff and taste, and makes holes with his paws to explore. He climbs partially up hills to leave his scent and manages his steps expertly where he falls in, eventually jumping out to the sidewalk. When a neighbor takes him for a run, you can tell he wants to race up and down the snow hills with pure joy. Walk Enthusiast Gambet loves his walks. The longer, the better, and the happier he is! He's easy to walk and doesn't pull, making him a pleasure to take out. He'd love to meet every dog he sees and will whine a little when he can't greet another pup, but he's always polite and gentle. Affectionate and Loving This boy loves being brushed, petted, scratched, rubbed, and kissed. He loves being with his humans and greeting other pups. He's been gentle with the children he's met, showing his kind nature with everyone. When family came over, he went person to person to get petted, then started over again! He just wants to be loved, fed, and petted. Gentle Companion Gambet is a gentle boy who loves to snuggle. He hasn't played much with toys so far, though he moves them around and is interested in squeaky toys. He does like chewing on Nylabones and enjoys a Kong or good treat. He tried to be a lap dog but couldn't quite fit in the chair, though he gave it his best effort! Well Behaved Gambet can be left out in the living room and kitchen areas where he's very well behaved. No barking or whining when left for several hours. He comes to see his foster when he wants attention and lays by her side sometimes. Other times he's happy lying in his dog bed, taking turns in each one. He lays with his head and shoulders on the floor because the dog beds aren't quite large enough for him to stretch out on, but he's a happy camper! Best Home Fit Gambet is a really kind and sweet soul who would thrive in a home that will give him long walks (especially in the snow!), lots of love and attention, and the companionship he craves. Whoever gets this lovely boy will be very lucky. If you're looking for a gentle, affectionate companion who loves walks, adores the snow, and just wants to be loved, Gambet is waiting to meet you! Story
Current Location: Silver Spring, MD Meet Kiki 💕 an adorable 2 months old sweet , an easy-going girl who loves the company of others. She has never met a person or a dog who she doesn’t like. Kiki is a very smart puppy who loves to learn new things about the world and about how to have good puppy manners. I'm searching for... * someone who won't leave me home alone for more than 4 hrs, at least not until I am older. The older I am the more I can stay home alone. I just don't want you to get mad at me if I have accidents or chew things I'm not supposed to when you leave me for too long. I'm a puppy, so I get bored quick and when I'm bored I could get in trouble. * I am looking for my forever home, not my for right now home. So as I get bigger I need someone to teach me how to be the best dog I can be. I am young and still learning. You may want to teach me some new tricks like sit, stay, etc. Professional training will help me bond with you. That sounds like fun! * I saved the most important for last. I am hoping my new mom or dad will snuggle with me, play with me and love me forever and ever! I'm making my way north in search of my new family. Is that with you? If so apply today because this cuteness won’t be around for long!

Story
Little Bear is a 5-year-old Labrador Retriever/Beagle mix with a mostly black coat and a heart full of love for his people. This sweet boy adores adults and thrives on human companionship. He's affectionate, loves to snuggle, and gets genuinely excited when visitors come to the home. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will make you the center of his world, Little Bear is ready to be your shadow. Little Bear does best in a calm, predictable environment where he can be the main focus. He's housetrained, does well in the yard, and walks decently on leash without pulling. He's treat motivated and enjoys all the pets and attention you can give him. While Little Bear loves people, he's much more selective about canine company. He needs slow, measured introductions with other dogs, as quick meetings can overwhelm him and cause him to cower or retreat. He may tolerate another dog in the home, but he tends to tire of them after a while and would honestly prefer to have his humans all to himself. When encountering dogs on walks, he'll pull on the leash to escape the situation. His ideal home would be with adults only or a family with older, respectful children who understand his need for a peaceful environment. Little Bear is looking for someone who wants a devoted one-on-one relationship with a dog who will give them his whole heart. Requirements: Calm home, adults or older children, ideally the only pet or very careful consideration with other dogs.

House trained: Yes Energy level: Medium Noise level: Barks occasionally My foster guardian says: My favorite thing about Luna is just how sweet she is! Likes: hiking, napping, chewing on bones, playing with other dogs Hi there! Im Luna! My foster family describes me as happy, gentle, playful, and curious! In other words, Im all the fun parts of a puppy, without the extra work of training and socialization, because Ive already been there, done that! My foster family also says that of all the dogs theyve fostered, Im the one that theyve come the closest to foster failing with! Hear that folks? Theres some competition! Youd better snap me up quick! I ended up at the shelter after my previous family left me behind on their property when they moved. That was sad, and I still dont understand why they were done loving me, because I wasnt done loving them. But its okay, Im not dwelling on it! Im looking ahead to brighter days! Life at the shelter was okay (I was everybodys favorite, so that made things pretty easy), but things really started looking up when I met my awesome foster family! Living with a family again is the best! I love them so much! One of my favorite things to do is follow my foster mom around the house to keep her company while shes doing chores or working from home. Im always happy to get some snacks or pets in too! I like napping near her, and being a part of whatever activity shes up to. When Im not hanging out with my humans, I love spending time with my 2 foster doggy foster siblings! We play at the park together, go for long walks together, cuddle together, and keep each other company when our humans go to work. My foster family says that Im super respectful of their space, and I dont have any problem sharing toys or snacks. In addition to being very polite and easy-going, Im also totally potty trained, dont chew on things Im not supposed to, can stay home alone outside of my crate no problem, and even know a few tricks! Allow me to astound you. I know sit and off! You may now clap. Id be happy to learn even more with my forever family, whatever makes them happy! Im a girl in her golden years whos looking for a cozy spot to land where I can get all the love I deserve. Im more than willing to give humans a second chance, so now I just need someone to return the favor. Ive got so much love and joy to give, and I just want to share it! Think we might be a match? Apply to adopt me today! Please visit our website www.ruraldogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing dog and to see other dogs available for adoption!

House trained: Yes Energy level: Medium Noise level: Barks occasionally My foster guardian says: My favorite thing about Winnie is how affectionate and curious she is! Likes: Walks, playing at the dog park, chewing on toys, riding in the car Hi, I'm Winnie, and Id be a Win-y for any family! Everyone I meet says how sweet, cute, and fun I am! Im super outgoing and friendly with all humans and canines, and I love to be part of a pack. If the group is going to do something, I want to be involved, no matter what! 12 mile backpacking trip? Let's go!! Movie marathon on the couch? Count me in!! Ridding the backyard of invading squirrels? Sign me up!! Im the life of the party and down to join in on any adventure, as long as I get to hang out with my people. One of my favorite things to do is play! I love all my toys, and Im a big fan of bones and chews, and playing tug and fetch, except for the part where I bring the ball back. Actually, I mostly love you throw the ball and Ill run around in a circle with it. Have you played that before? Its so fun, I can teach you!! I also love to chase and jump and wrestle with all my doggy buddies at the park, and Im always making new friends. Id love a forever family where I had a canine sibling! Being an only child would also be awesome, then Id get all the attention and snacks! Speaking of snacks, Im a true foodie. I love treats of all types, and Im happy to do tricks to get some. Im super smart and learn new things really fast. I already know sit, down, stay, and heel. Im good on leash, and Im comfortable with my crate too. One thing I am still practicing is being left home alone. I do really well with treats and eating food in the crate, which keeps me distracted and less anxious when my humans leave. I also do well with clear and consistent boundaries and routines. All that to say, if youre looking for a high-speed cuddle bug who will be your most loyal, lickey friend ever, Im your girl! I cant wait to be someone's co-pilot, and share all the love I have to give with my new family! If you think wed be a match, apply to adopt me today! Likes: Walks, going for runs, playing at the dog park, cuddling on the couch, chasing his tail, playing tug Hi, Im Erwin! My foster family describes me as a super smart, snuggly boy who loves to play! Im a curious guy, and like to be involved in everything thats happening around the house! I help out by following my foster mom from room to room to make sure she isnt lonely while shes doing housework, and sitting next to her while she's working from home. Once were out and about, I like to explore everything I can, and sniff all the smells! I also love stopping by the dog park to play, and I always have a blast when I get to see my friends at daycare too! I'd be happy in a home with another dog to play with and learn from, but I also would be happy flying solo too. I enjoy playing with my toys, working on food puzzles, and snacking on my chews. My special favorite are the yak cheese ones. Have you tried those? Theyre the best! I also love snuggling on the couch with my foster mom and getting all the pets. Ive been working with a trainer to help build up my confidence, and to become the best boy ever for my future family! I love training, and Im looking for a family who enjoy helping me keep up my skills and learn new tricks too! Im a smart cookie, and I already know a ton! Im potty trained and crate trained, and I also know sit, down, come, stay, off, heel, and place, and Im practising my leash skills every single day. I like when my routine stays the same, and I know what to expect from my day. A family who will be able to keep my schedule consistent is going to be the best fit for me! Story
Don't miss out on this gorgeous chocolate-coated boy! WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS: Meet Jupiter aka Juju. He loves walks, playing tug-a-war, and doing food puzzles. He's one smart cookie! He has made SUCH incredible progress in the couple of months he has spent with his foster, working very hard to be a good boy. His biggest struggle is leash reactivity. It has been so rewarding to see his improvement through patient time spent outdoors, lots of treats and affirmation, and space from triggers (other dogs and bikes). Jupiter's special talent is that he can also jump baby gates and lock doors! He aims to please, loves to snug and give little kisses. He will need to keep working on his confidence around other dogs. We suspect that he will make a great running buddy. He has a good handle on potty training. Juju is quite comfortable in his crate, but sometimes feels left out and will let you know about it! He is a big ball of joy and will make a wonderful addition to an active home! -------------- Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained.
