Meet Nile, a charming boy seeking a loving home to enjoy his golden years. Nile is both crate trained and potty trained, making him a great companion for a tidy household. Ideally, he would flourish in an environment without young children and someone who is committed to continuing with his training. At the end of the day, he relishes the opportunity to cuddle up with his human to unwind and share moments while watching TV together. His affectionate demeanor and gentle presence make him a delightful addition to a loving home. If you have experience with dogs who need a little extra understanding and are prepared to provide a secure and consistent environment, Nile might be the perfect companion for you!

Story
Currently being fostered in West Point, VA Meet Reese – A Quiet Observer with a Gentle Heart Reese may be new to the world outside his litter, but he’s already showing signs of being a thoughtful and loving companion. He’s the braver of his sibling pair, slowly stepping into his confidence with each new day. Personality Reese is calm, gentle, and a little shy in new situations, but he warms up with quiet encouragement. He’s not particularly food motivated, but he responds beautifully to kind words and praise. He enjoys playing with his brother and meeting new people and friendly dogs at his own pace. While he has shown some mild resource guarding (with Kongs or toys), it’s limited and likely just part of learning to share. Energy Level Reese has a low to moderate energy level. He enjoys light play and short walks, followed by a cozy nap or some solo crate time. He’s not a high-energy pup and would thrive in a calm home where he can gain confidence and feel secure. Skills and Training - Working on potty training – off to a solid start - Crate training in progress – does well, especially overnight - Leash trained – walks well and enjoys a gentle stroll - Quiet – has only barked at donkeys (which is perfectly reasonable!) - Still learning – needs gentle encouragement for transitions like getting out of the car or going outside - Praise-motivated – loves being told he’s a good boy Companionship Reese would do best in a calm environment with older children or adults who can help him feel safe and supported. He would be happy as the only dog or alongside a submissive canine companion. He would not be a good fit for a household with a dominant dog. Love and Affection Reese is the quiet, steady type who values closeness and calm. He may not rush into your arms, but once he trusts you, he’ll stay nearby and soak up your presence. Thoughtful, observant, and quietly affectionate - he’s a hidden gem just waiting to shine. Included Veterinary Care: - Visit to veterinarian for health certificate - Up to date on vaccinations for his age - Neutered - Microchipped - Heartworm preventative - Flea and tick preventative - Worm/parasite treatments Reese is ready for a gentle, loving home where he can continue to blossom. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a quiet soul and a heart full of potential - Reese might be your perfect match.

Story
Currently being fostered in West Point, VA Meet Randolph – A Gentle Soul Waiting to Blossom Randolph is a stunning young pup with a coat like swirled chocolate and the most soulful green-blue eyes—eyes that speak of longing, hope, and a heart that’s learning to trust. Though timid and deeply sensitive, he’s already showing signs that, with the right person, he’s ready to open up and bloom. Personality Randolph is shy, submissive, and incredibly gentle. He finds comfort in quiet places—his crate is his safe haven—and when overwhelmed, he will retreat there to process the world around him. Though nervous about touch and leashes, he will follow you willingly once he trusts you, padding quietly behind you, hoping for connection. He’s not bonded to his brother and seems more focused on building human relationships than canine ones. He’s a soft soul, full of promise. Energy Level Low energy. Randolph is content with quiet surroundings and light activity. He prefers to snooze beside his trusted human, offering a paw of affection. He isn’t ready for busy parks or loud homes but will happily share space with you in a peaceful setting. A stroll through a quiet yard or lounging in the sun would be his idea of a perfect day. Skills and Training - Crate trained – finds comfort in his crate and keeps it tidy - House trained – no accidents and not destructive - Leash wary – will follow if leash is dropped, but cowers when led - Training in progress – responds well to gentle redirection and praise - Fenced yard required – he can jump a 3-foot fence easily and needs a secure area to safely explore Companionship Randolph would thrive in a home that is calm and slow-paced. He is not suited for city life or loud, high-energy households. Older kids, a kind adult, or a single person who understands how to give him space and time will be his ideal match. He would do fine as the only dog or with a mellow, non-dominant canine friend. Love and Affection Though shy, Randolph is so eager to belong. Once he trusts you, he leans into you - curling beside you in bed, placing a paw on your lap, staying close without asking for much. He is not pushy for attention, but deeply grateful when it’s offered. He’s not afraid of love; he just doesn’t know yet how to ask for it. Included Veterinary Care: - Visit to veterinarian for health certificate - Up to date on vaccinations for his age - Neutered - Microchipped - Heartworm preventative - Flea and tick preventative - Worm/parasite treatments Randolph is a heart still unfolding, a soul that needs just the right light to fully bloom. If you're patient, gentle, and ready to walk beside him at his pace, he’ll reward you with quiet loyalty and a love that runs deep. Could you be the one to help him write his story of courage and trust?

Story
Current Location: Alexandria, VA ABOUT SADIE: Meet Sadie, a lab mix with a big smile and a gleaming coat that catches the light to show off her many shades from honey to chestnut. PERSONALITY: Sadie is a good-natured and friendly girl. She loves running around and exploring the outdoors. Her playful nature extends to her love of water. With a kiddie pool, Sadie is one happy pup! Sadie is also a good listener and very smart. COMPANIONSHIP: Sadie’s foster mom reports that Sadie likes to be near her humans all the time, following them from room to room to keep an eye on everyone. Sadie is a great housemate and will sit quietly on her pet bed or on the floor next to you. Call her name and she’ll join you on the couch for a cuddle and a belly rub. TRAINING AND SKILLS: Sadie potty trained and does great with a specific routine for going outside. She is also a good girl in her crate. She will sleep quietly through the night in her crate and doesn’t make a fuss about staying in her crate during the day, when no people are the house. She even eats all her meals in the crate. Sadie has good leash manners as well. She doesn’t pull much and stays with her person and nicely follows their lead. She gets excited when she spots another dog or person so she may pull a bit in those situations. But her foster mom says she just needs to shorten Sadie’s leash a bit and let Sadie know to keep walking, and she does so without barking. Sadie is great about coming when called and is very eager to please. She is working on getting used to new dogs in her own home, and does best when allowed to be introduced to them slowly. Following this pattern, Sadie is now very friendly with her foster siblings. Sadie’s foster mom has not seen Sadie interact with cats or children so she isn’t sure how Sadie feels about those critters. LOVE AND AFFECTION: Sadie is a very sweet cuddle bug and wants to join you on the sofa. She loves pets and wants to be with her person to devote all her love and loyalty. TRAITS AND IDEAL HOME: Sadie's ideal home would be one where she has companionship. She would do well as an only dog, or, with a multi dog household, she would do best with an experienced, patient owner, who can slowly introduce the pups to each other. Sadie needs regular exercise in a yard or someone who can take her on long walks. Looking for a sweet and loving girl who is equal parts cuddle bug and play buddy? Come and meet Sadie! Included Veterinary Care: -Visit to Veterinarian -Health certificate included Vaccinations -Up to date for her age -Spay/Neutered -Microchipped -Heartworm Preventative -Flea and Tick Preventative -Worm/Parasite Treatments This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving at the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH’s heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. Read more about heartworm disease here https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basics#q12

Brandon is a sweet, smart, and play-driven young dog looking for a new home. He is amazing with kids, cats, and other dogs. Fully house trained, he loves to cuddle up on his dog bed after a good round of fetch. Rehoming him is heartbreaking, but due to ongoing tension between him and my partner, it’s the best decision for everyones peace. He deserves a home where he can be fully loved and appreciated. Brandon would thrive with an active, loving family who has room in their hearts and home for one very good boy. With his adoption I will provide two crates, his bed, and toys.
