Story
Male, 5 months old, 33 lbs Good with: Other dogs Not tested with: Cats, Kids House trained: Mostly, with an occasional accident Energy level: High Noise level: Loud I'm Louie, and I'm a big ball of energy with a lot of love to give! I absolutely adore chew toys, playing fetch, and getting those zoomies out. A good game of tug is right up my alley. However, I have to admit, I'm not the biggest fan of my crate. My training level is a work in progress, and I could use some help with crate training and mastering basic commands. Despite the occasional accident, I'm mostly housetrained. My positive traits include being leash trained, loving toys, being playful, affectionate, and intelligent, with a touch of goofiness. I do enjoy vocalizing my thoughts, and I've been described as rambunctious and a bit mouthy. Separation anxiety is something I'm working on, so a patient family committed to providing structure and training would be perfect for me. I get along well with dogs who match my energy level, but I'm not sure about kids or cats. While having a yard would be convenient for my frequent potty breaks, it's not necessarily required if my family is dedicated to giving me the appropriate exercise. I'm looking for a patient and committed family who can match my high energy and provide the love and structure I need to thrive. If that sounds like your home, I can't wait to meet you! My foster guardian says: “Louie is a big ball of energy with a lot of love to give! He gives aggressive puppy kisses, enjoys spending time with his person and provides the best snuggles once he settles.” Likes: chew toys, fetch, zoomies, playing tug Dislikes: my crate My ideal home: I would do best with a patient family who's committed to providing structure and training, and a fairly active family who can meet my exercise needs. Please contact Rachel Durnin (racheld2@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Southern belle looking for a home!DIXIE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:   Dixie          Best Guess for Breed:   Lab mix  Best Guess for Age:   3 years as of February 2024          SEX:    Female   Approximate Weight:   60 lbs   Gets Along With:    Other dogs! We're not sure if Dixie gets along with cats or children but we can test her if you're interested!   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home   Dixie is Looking For:    Her forever home! Through no fault of her own, this gorgeous gal ended up in the shelter. She is out of the puppy yips and is ready to become the confident adult dog she was meant to be- and this smart lady even already knows how to sit and shake! All Dixie is missing is her own humans to trot alongside on sniffy walks, romps in local parks, and all the adventures they can dream up! Exploring all the toys sounds great too, as well as some delicious kibble and a cushy dog bed.   Most of all, though, she wants to know she's safe and loved and under her own roof every time the sun goes down. In exchange, she promises adoring gazes, cuddles, and loyalty for all her days.   What do you say? Is Dixie the companion you've been looking for? What My Foster Says About Me:    We will update this once Dixie has spent more time with her foster Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online   at   bit.ly/adoptaluckydog  .   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Please contact Courtney Nobles (courtneyn@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Brown beauty ready for her forever home!CLAUDIA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:    Claudia        Best Guess for Breed:    Lab mix    Best Guess for Age:    3 years old as of Nov 2023        SEX:    female Approximate Weight:    Approx 47 lbs Gets Along With:    Other dogs! We haven’t seen Claudia with kids or cats yet, but she can be tested! Currently Living at:    DC area foster home Special adoption considerations: Claudia is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the adoption counseling process. Claudia is Looking For:   An amazing family to love her for life! Claudia came into the shelter, no fault of her own, and is ready to move north to the DMV. She hopes to see what all the fuss is about up here and take trips to the dog park, daily walks around town, and show off at obedience training. As a lab mix, Claudia thinks she might like to spend a day at the dog beach in the summer or roll around in the snow in the winter. Most of all, Claudia is hoping to find a loving home – so what do you say? Is Claudia the girl for you? What My Foster Says About Me:    Will update when Claudia has spent more time in foster care. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. NALA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Name:  Nala            Best Guess for Breed:  Lab/Pointer Mix      Best Guess for Age:  8 weeks as of 2/20            SEX:  Female   Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!):   12.1 lbs as of 2/20   Gets Along With:  Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training.   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home   Special Adoption Considerations:  Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.  Nala is Looking For:   Hiya! I'm Nala! Me and my littermates, Nathan and Neena, have loved our time in the puppy pile, but we are each ready to pack our bags and find our very own forever home! I'm looking for a home that will let me play with toys and get my puppy zoomies out and give me snuggles in between playtimes. When I'm a little older, I can't wait to explore my new neighborhood on lots of walks, and I'd really like to make a bunch of doggie friends along the way. Oh, and I should probably take a puppy obedience class or two so I can show you how smart I am. What do you say? Do you have room in your heart for me? What My Foster Says About Me: Coming soon! Puppy Vetting Requirements:        Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.      Due to this puppy’s young age, she/he has not yet been spayed or neutered.  As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than June 23, 2024. There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit will be collected if you would like Lucky Dog to pay for this animal to be spayed/neutered at one of our low cost partner vets.   Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!  TO ADOPT:       The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.    If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
