Story
History: We received a plea to help a group of male adult dogs from a local hoarding situation. It broke our hearts to see the condition the homeowner and dogs were living in. The dogs were welcomed to a temporary housing situation by a local rescuer when the homeowner was hospitalized. Unfortunately, the homeowner passed away days later. It is a heartbreaking situation and we promise to give these boys fulfilling and loving lives. They are working on their trust and confidence and doing better each day! A Note from the Foster: If you're looking for a super chill guy that loves to cuddle, this guy is for you. He has had no accidents in the house and keeps his kennel clean overnight. He's on a schedule for his meals and potty breaks. Weather permitting, he loves to go for a walk. He's great on a leash and walks close by your side. I have not heard him bark. Only during his dreams! He has had all of his vaccinations. During his exam, they discovered he has severe cataracts on both eyes, which is causing some blindness. He's waiting for an appointment with the optometrist. His condition does not restrict him from being a content dog with his low-key life! However, he will follow you wherever you go. He likes to know someone is around!

History: Ashton is a super sweet boy who arrived to rescue in desperate need of a second chance. He is such a handsome and striking boy who is ready to meet his forever home soon! A Note from the Foster: Ashton is very handsome mini poodle. He just arrived to rescue but settled into his foster home immediately. He gets along very well with his foster toy poodle sisters and the other male poodle rescued with him, we believe they are brothers. He enjoys sharing a lap and toys with all of them. He has puppy energy but also loves to snuggle and get hugs. He isn’t a pro at leash walking but is learning quickly, loves praise and is food motivated. He goes out on a schedule and takes care of business right away. So far he has kept his kennel clean. He is not a fan of his kennel and cries when he is put there but everything is so new to him, I’m sure he will feel more comfortable in a kennel once he is more familiar with his surroundings. He so sweet and easy to have around, he will make a great addition to any family.

Story
History: 🧡 From Texas to Midwest 🤠—- A group of deserving dogs was recently welcomed as part of our Texas Transport Program! A program launched to make an impactful difference for our partner shelters in Texas facing the overpopulation of animals with limited resources and low adoption rates. We are excited to help these southern gems find loving forever homes to call their own! A Note from the Foster: Brandy came from Texas, and even though she has down south roots, she loves it here in Minnesota! She thinks snow is kinda fun to run and play in! If you are looking for a serious sweetheart with a playful and mischievous side, look no further! This girl is a bundle of fun wrapped in a sweet, tiny little package! She has energy for days, and will also gladly calm down for a good snuggle! She enjoys playing with her toys, and dashing around like a little rocket! She also will always brighten your day with her sweet kisses! Brandy warms up to almost everyone, but may have a negative history with men, as she is a little hesitant meeting new male humans. She is great with other dogs and likes all sizes of pals, she is also good with cats, though she has some boundary issues so cats may not like her. She just wants to be friends with everyone! While she likes friends, she also has lots of energy and some older, shyer, or calmer dogs may not appreciate her energy. She likes to be the dominant dog so keep that in mind when considering Brandy as a new family member! Brandy is learning the ropes of potty training. She is still young and it appears she was not potty trained in her previous life. We are working on it, but she will need someone to let her out consistently and have patience as she works through learning to potty outside. Are you looking for a nearly perfect companion with lots of love to give? Brandy may be the girl for you!

A Note from the Foster: Milton came from an unfortunate situation at a hoarder house where he lived with at least 4 other dogs. He now has a chance at a new life! Personality: Milton is pretty shy and is still learning that humans are kind. He likes to know what’s going on and will occasionally follow his adult humans around when they’re not looking and check to see what they’re up to. Otherwise he's curled up on one of multiple dog beds. He doesn’t like being cuddled by humans (yet) or being picked up. When he needs to be picked up sometimes he freezes in place and other times he runs away so it’s helpful to have a leash dragging behind him to be able to grab him. He seems like he’s starting to like itchies. He will move his leg out to the side to ask for inner leg itchies and leans into chin itchies. He LOVES being outside in our fenced in backyard sniffing around wagging his tail. Milton will need to be on a leash when he is outside or in a secure fenced in backyard with a drag leash. Potty training: Milton is doing great at potty training. He has had only one accident inside when we were too slow taking him outside after being kenneled all night. He wears a belly band just to be safe, however he’s not a fan and will try to pull it off when he thinks no one is watching. Toys: Milton isn’t interested in toys yet, but he does like dog chews and gnawing on bones. Kennel: He isn’t a fan of his kennel. He kennels intermittently throughout the day and every night overnight. He chewed on the metal bars of his metal kennel, so he has switched to a plastic kennel that he unsuccessfully tries to dig himself out of. Despite not liking his kennel he’s been vocally quiet in it (besides occasional digging sounds). We give him 4 pieces of kibble every time he kennels and he seems very happy with that basic offering. Leash: It doesn’t seem like Milton’s previous owner took him for many walks since he’s pretty new to the concept of a leash. He’s only been on two walks so far. He does some zip zagging and will of course stop you if there’s a good smell. Exposure to other dogs: Milton lives with a 3 year old 40 pound poodle. They follow each other around and sometimes nap on the same bed. I would highly recommend that he goes to a home with another confident dog because he is frequently looking to my resident dog for guidance. Exposure to kids or cats: none. He would be best in a home with older kids since he doesn’t like being suddenly grabbed.

Story
Elliana They gave me a fancy name at last! Can you believe it? I have been used as a breeder dog for years and years and then dumped at the local pound with a mammary gland tumor that you could play tennis with!! Who does that!!! At least that is what my foster mom thinks my life has been like. I sat there in a cage at animal control for 4 weeks before anyone would think about pulling me out of there but my foster mom said that she had to take me home so that I would have a chance to be a beloved pet before I die. Not that I am planning to do that anytime soon, but you never know. Anyhow, I went to the vet right away and had that big nasty thing taken off my stomach and the vets knew right away what it was and what it was from. They took out the baby making bits as well, so I won’t have to go through having my babies and then losing them right away to being just a baby and money making factory for somebody. Sheesh….get a job!! I have some issues, I won’t lie, but I am starting to kind of get used to being out of a cage, where I learned to circle around and around as there wasn’t a lot of space in those things. I can walk in a straight line and the more I get time outside, the more I am enjoying the fresh air and smells in the grass. I will revert to circles when I am nervous but Rome wasn’t built in a day and I have only had freedom for a couple of months now. I don’t have many teeth, as the ones I did have were rotted and broken from trying to eat the bars I suppose. I startle easily from the lack of being held and loved in my former life, and will try to “gum” you if I pick me up too quickly. But speaking to me and touching me before you pick me up will let me know you are there and going to be gentle with me. I am still getting used to the being held part, and sometimes can’t tolerate it very long, but I am learning and going slow is really helpful to me. I am learning what good food tastes like, and what a soft bed feels like, and while I have pretty limited vision to see things, I can follow my nose and it helps me to find everything I need to get around. Foster mom leaves me a puppy pad to potty on in the house if I have to go at night, and I am pretty good at using it. It took a while to figure out that is what it was for, but also, if I potty outside after meals, I am good if I keep to a schedule. So that is my story. If you are interested in giving a blind old lady a soft landing for the rest of my life, let me know. Local adoption in Texas only please.

Story
History and A Note from the Foster: Meet Shay, the most petite and charming Bichon you'll ever meet. She had a traumatic past and is working really hard to overcome that! When she first came into our home she would hide behind furniture and shake. We saw no signs of happiness and no signs of confidence. Shay has begun to blossom but will take a patient home to continue this progress. She is proving us wrong constantly and really is a happy gal! Shay has so many terrific qualities - crate trained and doesn't make a peep overnight, potty trained with consistent breaks, playful and goofy with other dogs and never aggressive with humans or other dogs. She is even starting to yip and play bow at me in the yard! I also get the most aggressive tail wag from her when I come home from work or let her out in the morning! She has not been around kids yet. While I know she would be gentle with them, they might scare her a bit if they chase her. Shay had a neglectful past which makes her fearful of humans. Her grooming and dental was also neglected for years. She did have 15 teeth pulled, but now she has the cutest snaggle tooth that her top lip is constantly getting caught on. It's one of my favorite things about her! Due to this she would love to eat wet food, or if that's not feasible you can soak her food in milk or water. She does take anxiety meds with her meals which will need to be continued as well. Her rust-colored fur around her paws and mouth is from nervous licking, however her nervous licking has really dwindled down! There are many "remedies" out there for rust colored fur. It's nothing bad, it just has to do with what's in her saliva. Some allergy testing might help as well! The perfect home for Shay MUST have: -No expectations for her. She may come out of her shell after 1 week or 1 year. It's impossible to know when (or if) she will become a "normal" dog. She may always be shy and progress isn't always linear. It has really been a blessing seeing her gain confidence and show joy. It's important to celebrate small successes! A home with experience with shy or shut down dogs is a huge bonus. She does not seek affection or touch from humans yet, however she has started to approach if I have a treat and beg for human food alongside the other dogs :) -Another dog (or two) around her size. She will look to your dog to not only be her safety blanket but also her teacher. Shay has 3 foster siblings. One is her size and shares her quiet temperament so they get along wonderfully and love to cuddle. The others are also the same size but a bit more aggressive with their play style and not quite the right fit for Shay long-term. Shay is always trying to play with her foster siblings! She play bows and spins in circles yipping in attempt to play. -A fenced in yard. Shay is still fearful of the leash and a walk is still too overstimulating. She loves to run around a fenced in yard as her primary source of exercise and is doing so fantastic with potty training! She has not had an accident inside in months. If you are looking for a quiet companion that needs some more patience and TLC then Shay is your girl. She really deserves the world and all we want to see is her be happy!

Good with dogs,
Story
History and A Note from the Foster: Hi, my name is Luna! 🌙 I recently found myself back with my previous foster family after my owner could no longer care for me — and I’m settling in beautifully. I’m 7 years young and have been told I’m just about the sweetest girl ever. My favorite thing in the world is being close to my people. I’ll happily follow you from room to room and curl up beside you whenever I get the chance. When you come home, I get very excited — expect happy wiggles, a high-pitched whine, and occasionally a joyful bark when I just can’t contain myself! My foster mom says I could stand to lose a little weight, so we’ve been focusing on building my stamina at my own pace. Right now, that looks like easy strolls and cheerful laps around the yard (unless is bitterly cold!), which I’m doing really well with. As I get stronger, I’ll be ready to work my way up to longer walks and new adventures. In my previous home, I was perfectly content being an only dog, but now I’m sharing space with two other pups and we all get along wonderfully. I’m not quite sure how I feel about little kids since I haven’t spent much time around them, but I do really enjoy older kids and their calmer energy. I’m also relearning that my crate is a safe and cozy place. I got used to being out all the time, but with a little reminder, I’m remembering that my crate can be a good spot to relax. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who just wants to be by your side, I might be your girl. 💕

History: Zipper is a super sweet boy who arrived to rescue in desperate need of a second chance. He is such a handsome and striking boy who is ready to meet his forever home soon! A Note from the Foster: Zipper is a Bichon breeder release. When I first picked him up, he was very fearful of the world. Each day though, he comes a little bit more out of his shell. In just a week, he has become comfortable in my house, and I can see the typical Bichon-like, happy personality coming through. He is happy whenever he can be with his people (or other dogs) in a safe space. His laid-back personality makes him easy to take care of, and he seems grateful to be in a home environment. He likes playing with my dogs, and is also happy to sleep on the couch. He doesn’t bark much and doesn’t like his crate. He sleeps at night in a dog bed in his own room without any problems. We are working on potty training. He wears a belly band, as he does have problems with marking. He is comfortable going out to go potty in the yard, and hasn't been interested in any walks so far.
