Story
Furrah Fawcett is a 2-year-old female Pug Terrier mix weighing 13 pounds. Sadly, Bakersfield continues to face a serious pet overpopulation crisis, with many dogs ending up in overcrowded, high-intake shelters where euthanasia rates remain heartbreakingly high. That’s why we step in early, taking in surrenders and strays from the area and bringing them to our facility in Thousand Oaks before they ever enter the shelter system. Furrah came from a home that simply had more dogs than they could handle. None of the animals were spayed or neutered, and the situation had become unmanageable, with 14 dogs living on the property. Shelter Hope stepped in and took in four adult dogs and five puppies so they could each have a chance at a better life. Furrah loves people, enjoys chew toys, and gets along well with other dogs. She has a medium energy level and is athletic, confident, curious, and playful, with that classic pug enthusiasm and a quirky, engaging personality that keeps you smiling. Now spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, Furrah Fawcett is ready to find her forever home. ---- Looking to Adopt? Step 1) Apply Online Submit a rescue questionnaire! Story
This is a very difficult decision, and it’s made with a lot of care and love for our dog. We are looking to rehome our dog because of changes in our family situation and lifestyle that make it difficult for us to give him/her the time, attention, and consistency that every dog deserves. Rather than compromise his/her quality of life, we want to find a home where he/she can thrive. Our dog is truly a sweet, loyal companion who bonds closely with people. He/she enjoys being around his/her family and loves attention, affection, and being included in daily life. Like many dogs, he/she does best when given structure, routine, and a stable environment. We are hoping to find a home that can provide: A stable, loving environment Time for daily attention, walks, and interaction A patient adopter who understands that transitions can take time This dog is not “just a pet” to us—he/she is part of our family. Our goal is to make sure the next home is the right long-term match.

Story
Cute and Cuddly....thats our Cosmo! This precious Pug is Cosmo and he is looking for his forever home! Cosmo is an approx 2 year old, male, 18lb Pug that is probably the cutest and goofiest dog you will ever meet! He came to us as an owner surrender who did not feel that she had the time for him. We gladly took him into our foundation and had him fully vetted including treating his skin issues he was left to us with. He is feeling so much better! We are looking for a forever home for him with another playful dog or we might consider adopting him out as an "only" dog if he gets continued socialization and playdates with other dogs. An owner that is home most of the day/works from home is exactly what he would love along with a safe and secure backyard he can run around in. Pug owners (prior and present) would be ideal as they know this breed well and all that comes with owning a Pug. Cosmo is such a loving and cuddly dog that just needs the right owner to guide him into continuing to be the best pup he can be! If you are looking for an amazing dog to add to your family, then Cosmo just might be the one for you! Cosmo is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped We only adopt in So Calif as an in person meet/greet, home check, and trial are required. Please contact us at gina@theforgottendog.org or 310-990-2020

Dave is fabulous. He's an owner surrender. Super snuggly and affectionate. Would prefer to Netflix and chill than run a marathon. Very food motivated (see 3rd pic). Not a morning person. Gets along great with people and dogs. He's a 3 year old CCC (Constant Couch Companion)
