We rescued Ferdinand, affectionately known as Fern, from Animal Friends of The Valleys shelter a few months ago. He settled right in and has been loving life. Fern is around 4 years old with the heart of a puppy! He loves everyone he meets. He had the best time at the market event this past weekend and was making friends with all the people and dogs that passed by. He is incredibly social and will thrive in a social home, ideally with someone around a lot to give him tons of love and maybe even kids… He loves being the center of attention If you’re interested in adopting Fern please complete an adoption application on our website roversretreat.org 📍Ferdinand is being fostered in Huntington Beach but can be adopted anywhere as long as you can come to SoCal to meet/adopt and drive home. Unfortunate events brought this strong bonded pug family to us. Fani the mom is the glue that holds them together. She is sweet as pie and will always give you love when you are in need. Gumbo the father is the brawn and protector of the family, he will never let them down. Don’t let his older age fool you, he can keep up with the youngest in the pen! Pierogi the son, can be a little rambunctious and prefers to be the center of attention. He’s got an undeniable wild side, but he’s a mommas boy at heart. He loves to clean his moms ears and snuggle up close to her when it’s time to nap. And last of all we have Jilly Puff, the darling daughter and lover of dresses. Jilly Puff is everyone’s best friend and has amazing fun energy. She will be the first to grab a toy and say “let’s play”. This family lost their previous owner a little while back and were brought to us in hopes of finding them a new forever home. We like to observe bonded dogs that come in before really considering them bonded, and it did not take long to realize that this family needed to stay together, no matter what. They have all been examined by our vet with only minor ailments to address. As well as getting them on the right diet since they were quite overweight upon their arrival. We hope there is someone out there with a home and heart big enough to give this family the security and love they need.

This little fellow found his way into our care after being relinquished by his previous owner, who, unfortunately, couldn't manage his needs.Rift is a resilient soul dealing with skin allergies that require some extra TLC. His skin condition is manageable with a combination of a good diet, medicated baths, and occasional medication to handle flare-ups. The yeast on his skin has led to a skin infection, emphasizing the importance of consistent and attentive care. Despite these challenges, Rift's future adopter will find that with dedication, his skin issues can be kept under control.He's a sensitive boy who deserves a loving home where his health can be the top priority. He is also partially blind. Daily eye drops are essential to keep his eyes moist and healthy, as his dry eyes were not properly treated, resulting in the partial blindness. While he may see shadows, his vision impairments have impacted his confidence, especially around other dogs. As a result, Rift is likely to thrive as the sole dog in his forever home.But don't let these challenges overshadow the joy that Rift brings. Snowman was found as a stray before coming to the rescue. We can’t be certain what his life was like before, but it seems like it’s been a while since he’s felt kindness from humans. He’s timid with introductions, but if you’re calm and patient with him, he’ll warm up and become relaxed and comfortable around you in no time! He loves cuddling and receiving belly rubs from the people he’s deemed trustworthy. Snowman was recently adopted, but became reactive with his new owner's friend, so they needed to rehome him. Snowman seems to prefer women to men and isn't very warm to strangers. However, “Snowy” is incredibly food motivated and he wanted us to let you know that treats are the way to his heart! Snowy isn’t a fan of loud, sudden noises so he would do best in a calm home without small children. He is a very sweet and gentle boy once he’s able to collect his bearings. Snowy does well with other dogs and loves to play with his stuffed animals. We aren’t sure what Snowy’s mixed with, but there’s some suspicion he’s part Corgi due to his large chest and short legs.
