Story
This handsome 5-year-old, 21-pound guy has a story that proves he’s a survivor! Ryan came to us after being found as a stray, carrying a large wound on his back and a little nervousness around new people. The wound was just a reminder of the tough life he’d had, likely from scratching due to flea irritation, and with some care and time to decompress, Ryan has shown just how resilient and loving he really is.Ryan is a one-of-a-kind dog. His goofy underbite, intense head tilt (especially when a squeaky toy is nearby), and overall spunky personality make him impossible not to adore. He’s the perfect mix of chill and playful content to lounge and nap quietly, but the second you approach, he’s ready to go go go! He loves long walks, playing with other dogs, and chasing his favorite toys. He’s also very food motivated and already knows a couple of tricks like sit and shake, making him an eager learner for more treats and training fun. This little guy thrives with patience. He’s not a fan of sudden hand movements or being restrained, so he’d do best in a home without small children. Older kids (12+) and attentive adults who give him time to feel safe and loved will see the best version of Ryan which is a loyal, silly, and endlessly entertaining boy.Ryan is more than ready to bring joy to a home that will appreciate his unique personality. Once he trusts you, he’ll follow you everywhere, nap by your side, and brighten your days with his quirks and charm. Could he be the loyal, goofy, and loving buddy you’ve been waiting for? Please inquire today!

Story
Elmer is 14 years old, about 20 pounds, and found himself back at square one after being relinquished to us due to someone in his previous home developing allergies to him. It’s a tough break, especially at his age, but Elmer hasn’t let it change who he is. He’s still a loving, easygoing, genuinely good dog who just wants someone to call his own again!Once Elmer gets to know you, he’s all in. He’ll follow you from room to room, always keeping tabs on you and happily soaking up any attention you’re willing to give. He’s affectionate, loyal, and just really enjoys being close to his person. He has a big heart and isn’t shy about wanting to be loved right back.Around the rescue, Elmer tends to hang back a bit and take things in. He’s not the type to push himself into the spotlight, but he’s always nearby, watching, waiting, and ready for his turn to get some love. He does great with other mellow dogs and is friendly with people of all ages, especially if they come with back scratches or snacks. He is very food motivated and eager to please, which makes him easy to connect with!We think he might be a pug and beagle mix, but whatever he is, he’s incredibly cute and full of charm. He enjoys his walks, likes being out in the sunshine, and is just as happy coming back in to relax and nap.Elmer is a great, steady kind of dog. He’s not asking for much, just a home where he can feel secure again and live out his golden years surrounded by love and a person who will stick with him this time. In return, he’ll be right there with you, every day, happy just to be included. Please inquire today!

Story
This charming little guy is about 6 years old, 18 pounds, and ready to steal hearts and maybe a few snacks along the way! Chops came to us after being dropped off at a local shelter by his previous owner. For some reason, no one scooped him up there, but luckily for him (and for you!), he landed at Pug Nation where we know he’s destined to find a forever family who will adore his quirky, lovable personality.Chops is a true attention magnet. He LOVES being close to his people, whether it’s snuggling on the couch, hanging out at your feet, or playing his heart out in the yard. He’s got a curious little spirit and explores the world with his mouth - not aggressively, just enthusiastically! That means he’s a little “mouthy” at times, so he’d do best in a home without small children, though older kids who understand boundaries would be just fine. He’s smart and food-motivated, and he’s already showing off his skills. He knows how to sit and is learning to give his paw! Chops gets along with other dogs and is always ready to make new friends, but his favorite role is being the star of his human’s life. Give him attention, treats, and some guidance, and you’ll have a devoted, hilarious little sidekick for life.Chops is full of love, personality, and charm he’s just waiting for someone to notice him and give him the family he deserves. Could that be you? Please inquire today!

Story
Meet Bentley, a charming 10-year-old gentleman who is looking for a loving forever home. Bentley's previous owner had to move to a memory care facility, and her daughter has been taking care of him since. Unfortunately, she isn't able to keep him long-term, so we are hoping to find Bentley a new family to share his golden years with.Bentley is up to date on all his shots and is neutered. He has a special fondness for the outdoors, so a home with a yard or a family that enjoys spending time outside would be perfect for him. Bentley might need a little refresher on house training, but with patience and consistency, he'll settle in nicely. This sweet boy gets along well with female dogs and would thrive in a home where he can be the center of attention or have a gentle female companion. Bentley's gentle nature and love for outdoor activities make him an ideal companion for a family looking for a loyal and loving pet.If you're ready to give Bentley the loving home he deserves, please inquire today!

Story
Like his namesake city, Croydon has character, heart, and a quiet kind of cool that sneaks up on you. He was originally found as a stray and brought into a crowded local shelter. When he came down with kennel cough and needed a quick exit, we didn’t hesitate to rush down and pull him and bring him to our rescue. This gentleman deserved better. Now that he’s healthy and feeling fantastic, he’s ready to trade rescue life for a cozy couch and a forever family. At 8 years old and about 20 pounds, Croydon is compact, mellow, and ready to accompany you wherever life takes you. He’s affectionate, easygoing, and just the right amount of silly. He’s friendly with everyone he meets, whether they have two legs or four, and he greets the world with soft eyes and a hopeful heart.Croydon isn’t just handsome... he’s smart, too! He knows how to sit on command and can spin for treats (which he accepts with the dignity of a true gentleman). He’s happy to join you for a stroll around the neighborhood, but he’s equally content soaking up attention and settling in for a relaxed evening at home. A few pets, a few treats, and your company? That’s his version of paradise. He would do wonderfully in a home with other dogs or respectful children, and while he’s entering his senior era, he’s doing so with grace. An adopter who understands and appreciates senior dogs would be ideal - someone who sees the beauty in a steady, loyal companion. He doesn’t need much, just a soft place to land, someone to love, and a forever home where he can finally unpack for good. If you’re looking for a sweet best friend with a lot charm and even more heart, Croydon is ready to meet you! Please inquire today!

Story
Avaric was pulled from a local shelter after being red-listed due to severe emaciation. He was in urgent need of rescue placement so he could safely begin gaining weight and receive proper care, and we’re so glad he’s now with us at Pug Nation. When Avaric arrived, he was dangerously underweight and had clearly gone a long time without consistent food. To keep him safe while starting to gain weight he started on multiple small meals a day to avoid refeeding syndrome, and he’s been doing great! He’s already gained some weight and continues to improve, though he still has more to gain. After thorough vet exams and lab work, there’s no underlying medical cause for his condition. He was simply starved. Now that he’s feeling a bit better, Avaric’s personality is coming through. He’s extremely food motivated (understandably), energetic, and full of life. He loves people, enjoys playing with other dogs, and has a big voice when food is involved. He’s also wonderfully unique looking, with one floppy ear, one upright ear, a big underbite, and long, deer-like legs. We think he may be a Chihuahua–Pug mix, and he’s as silly as he is adorable!Avaric would do best in a home with an active owner who isn’t gone long hours and can continue helping him gain weight and confidence. He’s ready for a life filled with regular meals, adventure, and the love he missed out on for far too long. Interested in giving this incredibly resilient dog the home he truly deserves? Please inquire today!
