Story
Meet Kai! He's our super hero dog. A rottweiler in disguise! Can't you tell!? Look at that rotty face! This handsome guy has the A+ personality of the breed and is hoping to join any family to get his happily ever after. Kai is mellow, a couch potato, sweet, loves dogs and kids, good with cats, housetrained, and he loves to sing. You read that right! Kai will sing and serenade you for some good old fashioned belly rubs. Kai has the personality for a perfect family dog. It's all rainbows and sunshine when it comes to this dude. Except for when he is left alone. Kai has been in and out of the shelter numerous times by people who continue to fail him over and over... owners moving and busy work schedules result in sweet Kai going back to a high kill shelter. Because of this, he doesn't like being left alone in his crate. He does much better being crated next to a dog. It helps him feel secure and we hope it helps reassure him that he'll never go back to the loud stressful shelter. Kai needs a family that is ok with some barking and crying while left. Over time, we hope that Kai knows he has found his happily ever after and being left alone is a time to snooze and wait for mom and dad to come home. So what do you say? Would you like to take over Kai's last stop in his rescue journey? If you would like to meet Kai, please visit spotslaststop.org and fill out an application.

Just like the classic debate- Left Twix versus Right Twix... both sides together ARE THE BEST!!! I am the same way, I am sweet on one side and salty on the other- together we are perfect! I have a tale to tell, however, none of it matters anymore because I am here right now to tell you- the best is yet to come! I am a big love bug, and although I can be nervous at first- I settle in quickly to be just a big couch potato! I am good with other dogs and would love to have a friend for life in my forever home. I am good with calm older dogs, not much for puppy energy all.the.time... :) I love kids, and would be great with school aged/teenagers (and not many others LIKE teenagers so I can be their buddy :) and would be good in a calmer/quieter home. I want so much to please my family and will look to you for love and attention. I also need a strong leadership family- I have tried to take over control in my first adoptive home and it was not appreciated. SO, you need to be my boss, it's not hard- just let me know you are someone I can trust to keep me safe and take EXCELLENT care of me- with love and more love and I will LET you be in control. Simple as that :) I am a big boy, 4 yrs old and about 75#, with GORGEOUS colors and markings. I will melt your heart when you look into my amber eyes and into my sweet soul. So don't hesitate, ADOPT ME!! I need to stay in TX so my rescuers can keep tabs on me and see me every once in awhile, cause they are going to MISS ME!!! But, adoption is why I am here, so they will get over it! Adoption application: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/GDR/Dog Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Kenzo is a happy, lovable, rambunctious, goof. This 1.5 yr old, 72 lbs Rottie Mix is full of personality and life. Despite coming from one of the more extreme cases of neglect and abuse (being starved to the brink of death, outside and alone on a chain) he has flourished in his foster home. It was apparent at first that he had never been in a home nor known a kind touch but he is a very smart boy and eager to please. In a short period of time he's become crate trained and housebroken, learned "down", "sit", and "go to bed" on command. Kenzo has been great with the fellow kitties living in his foster home, and has done well on playdates with other large breed dogs (proper introductions needed). Kenzo loves to play, his favorite games are fetch and hide-n-seek. Due to his past, Kenzo is very sensitive to tone and can't handle harsh corrections without shutting down. He responds wonderfully to positive training techniques and will do just about anything for treats and praise. Kenzo is shy and wary of strangers, but with a little time and a few treats anyone can win him over. Despite his fears, he has shown no signs of fear reactive aggression, only avoidance. We recommended he goes a to home with Rottie knowledge, and/or experience with large breeds. Also recommend no small dogs or children due to his size and tendency to throw his weight around when excited. Name: Boogie aka Kenzo Age: 1.5 years old Sex: Male Breed: Rottie Mix Weight: 72 lbs Housebroken: Yes Crate-Trained: Yes Cat Friendly: Yes Dog Friendly: (Large Breed w/ Proper Intro) Known Commands: "Sit", "Down", "Leave it", "Go to Bed" Personality: Sweet, Playful, Goofy, Clumsy, Rambunctious, Cuddle-Bug, Wannabe Lap Dog, Shy and Timid of Strangers. Hobbies Include: Fetch, Hide-n-Seek, Cuddling, Belly Rubs, Eating (loves raw Fruits and Veggies as treats), Going for Walks, Occasional Zoomies, Following his Human Around, Playing with Other Puppers. He is located in Texas but can be transported in the US! Local (Texas) adoption fee is $200 OOS (Transport) adoption fee is $400

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please check below to see what upcoming adoption events I will be attending or apply here for a private meeting.  If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***   DOB: 12/08/2018 Requires another dog in home: No, if home a lot Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes, prefers similar size dogs Okay with cats: No, has prey drive Okay with children under 12 years old: No, because gets exctied Weight: 57.8 lbs Requires a fenced yard: No, if committed to continue leash training Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello, my name is Rye. I am a dashing adult male Shepherd mix who loves attention and needs a lot of stimulation, or I just might find my own entertainment which may be a bit destructive…I’m just sayin’! Hee, hee!! Playing with my people and other dogs is one of my favorite things to do but I can get a little too excited and nippy sometimes so foster mom gently helps me calm down, but I don’t think small kids are a good fit for me! In addition to playing, I love cuddling with my people; barking at anything that moves outside; getting baths and being brushed; chewing on and destroying anything I can find whether bones, chew toys or other things that maybe are not meant for me (hee, hee); and since I have a high prey drive, I love to chase rodents as well as cats so my new home should be feline free! I do pretty well in new situations if my people are there with me, but I can be a little shy with new people and although I warm quickly to women, I’m more reserved with men and make them work for my attention and trust! Hee, hee!! I also don’t like it when foster mom leaves the room because, quite frankly, I ‘demand’ to be a part of EVERYTHING!! Hee, hee!! Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention how smart I am…I mean, not only am I potty, crate, and leash trained but I know a bunch of commands like “sit”, “stay”, “come”, “kennel/crate”, “wait”, “leave it”, “outside”, “go potty” and will do almost anything for a treat! Hee, hee!! Anyway, I’m a total love bug who is simply looking for a furever home with a wonderfully patient family who will shower me with unconditional love and NEVER give up on me. If you are ready to welcome some joy and happiness into your life, then I we are meant for each other! I promise I am worth it, and I will light up your world! Love, Rye Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.       ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.   ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.   FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.   NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.   YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //     Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $400 plus tax Duncan is a super cuddly and affectionate pup. He is crate trained, housebroken, and muzzle trained, and knows several comments such as sit, touch, leave it, and back. He does have some anxiety issues; he is nervous when meeting people and needs to be introduced slowly and cautiously. He is working hard to overcome this anxiety which, if unchecked, manifests itself in reactive behavior. He has gone through a great deal of training (both private and group) and learns quickly.  He has made significant improvements but still needs work. His current family adores Duncan. They understand his personality and work with him to be a good little guy. He loves to cuddle with them, plays with toys, enjoys long active walks, and monitors the squirrel and bunny visitors from the window. Unfortunately, he doesn’t fit well with their elderly cat and frequent teenage visitors. He really wants to be in charge, but does much better with a human boss. Potential owners will need to be patient with Duncan and continue to work daily with him on training. He comes with ahis own trainer. He is very loyal and protective. No young children or cats. He hangs out with our friend’s dog often, but food/treats/toys must be kept separate. Duncan will make a great dog for someone who is willing to take the time to show him that he does not need to bear all responsibility for caring for everybody.     If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.   //

Meet Cyrus- The hunkinator of rescue. This handsome dude has been in rescue for FAR too long. Cyrus has a true boxer personality. He loves a good romp in the yard and loves to meet ALLLLLLLL the people when out on walks. After some training sessions and learning what helps Cyrus live his best lift, we are proud to say that Cyrus is gentle-leader trained. This helps with pulling and allows his foster parents to have control over this big dude. These days, Cyrus walks like a true gentleman and he is a "head turner"... we should have named him Channing Tatum or Mark Wahlberg. Unfortunately, he wants to be called Fabio but we just can't get ourselves to go there. Cyrus is great in the crate, is housetrained, and would do well with older kids who are ok with big dogs. Cyrus is a big boy with a big heart and he loves to show just how much he loves you (big or small!) Cyrus would love someone who can continue his obedience training with positive reward reinforcement. He has so much love to give and is ready to complete your home (paws and all!) If you would like to meet Cyrus, please visit spotslaststop.org and fill out an application.

Story
Meet Ace- Ace is a happy-go-lucky guy. He loves being outside exploring the yard, playing fetch and going on walks. Every dog he meets is his new friend and he loves play dates. Inside the house, he’s happy as a clam to collect all the toys near his bed and play with them. He’s fully crate trained – sleeps through the night without a peep and content to be there when you leave. He’s very affectionate and loves to snuggle with his humans. He’s picked up on training quickly (potty trained, sit, lay down, leave it) and will continue to excel with leadership from his person. Ace is catching up for lost time in his socialization and loving it. He’s still a little shy when meeting new people, but quickly becomes comfortable seeking out treats from visitors. Ace would love a home where he can continue to grow, has a fenced in yard and a confident resident dog he can learn from and play with. His ideal home will continue to patiently work with him on socialization to expose him to new environments and people. He’s soaking it up and it’s lots of fun to see him grow his confidence! If you are a home that is looking to add a love bug to your crew then Ace is your man. If you would like to meet Ace, please visit spotslaststop.org and fill out an application.
