You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Sierra is an absolute sweetheart, she is full of life and energy :) Sierra is obsessed with any toy that squeaks lol. She LOVES playing fetch and roaming her field. She lives in the pooch palace with Tank, they adore each other. :) Everyone who meets sierra falls in love with her and her goofy personality. She really is the biggest love bug and goofball. :))  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Story
Pancake is a stunning Rottie mix who found her way to us as a stray. The kennel can make her a bit nervous at first, but once she feels safe and comfortable, her true personality shines and it’s pure lovebug with a side of goofball. She lives for snacks (who doesn’t?), but she’d do best with a family committed to proper portions and regular exercise to help her slim down and feel her best. When it comes to affection, Pancake doesn’t hold back, she leans her whole body into you. Pancake would love a home with breed experience and a family ready to give her the structure, patience, and love she deserves. In return, she’ll give you endless laughs, loyalty, and the best cuddles around. 3159 Susquehanna Trail N York PA 17406 Kennel #: 3537

Story
Meet Dog Vader: Dog Vader is estimated to be about 2 years old (as of February 2026) and what looks like a miniature Rottweiler - potentially rottie / kelpie mix (best guess) that weighs 15 pounds. Dog Vader was a frequent visitor at a park in suburban Memphis and it took a team of park goers and Animal Control Officers to catch him and then he was taken into a dog shelter. Dog Vader is currently being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. Dog Vader is very affectionate and loves to be near someone. At the dog shelter, Dog Vader was an unwilling resident in some respects. Dog Vader had a tendency to not want to come back inside from the exercise yard once released for a potty break, but if he had a lap available to climb into, he was happy to come in and snuggle up. Dog Vader gets along well with other dogs and is a great companion. Dog Vader is currently house trained to a doggie door and may need some patience while adjusting to a new method. We would love for Dog Vader to have a home with a fenced in yard so he can play freely. Dog Vader is up to date on his shots and neutered. If you are interested in adding this long-legged friend into your life, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application. Story
We’re looking to re-home our Rotterman to a loving, responsible home. He was born in September 2024 and is in great health. He’s up to date on all his shots, neutered, microchipped, house trained, and crate trained. He has a very protective temperament, walks well on a leash, and is great with our kids. He also completed two weeks of professional training at Stateline Canine, so he has a solid foundation and knows his basic commands. Recently, he and our other large dog have not been getting along, and for everyone’s safety and well-being, we feel it’s best to find him a home where he can be the only dog or properly introduced in the right environment. He’s a loyal dog who would do best with a family or individual experienced with larger breeds who can give him the time, structure, and attention he deserves. This is not an easy decision for us, and we want to make sure he goes to the right home. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
